Only about 20 chapters in, but I'm really liking it. World of Crime, Urban Druid, what's not to love? Also, apparently a review needs to be 50 words long? That's fifty words I could be writing in my own fiction. Fifty words I could be using to tell my kids I love them, or to help my dog figure out who is a good girl- but no, I have to spend them on this review. Still, the fact that I'm willing to do so is probably a pretty good indicator that I really liked this story.

There are few books about druids, and there are few books on magical prisons.
The nieche of a druid fighting for his own freedom and expanding Natures domain upon the world is one I know but two, maybe three works of. Each of wich I enjoyed greatly.
I sadly do not remember the other works name, as it migrated to another side a few years ago.
This one re ignited a passion I feel rarely even for my own works.
I am not in a position to judge grammar, thus my rating on it may be influenced by that.
The characters are relateable, and we meet them through their actions and influence on the MC, with his thoughts guiding our impressions to somewhat expect their actions.
I was confused by the stile at first, taking a while for me to adjust, though it is something I am growing used to.
The story works slowly but certainly to a clear goal, with the protagonists powers slowly growing as he creatively utilizes it, every single inch of power something that will certainly be utilized later on, with a lot of subtle foreshadowing.
Reading it has me actively empathise with the protagonist, rooting for him even as the stakes are presented, and the world around him adjusts to his existence.
Just adding to this: book 2 is everything book 1 was but even more awesome. I love this authors work, the best I ever read.

    ✓ Author of Deadman
✓ Good writing quality (but I repeat myself)
✓ No stats and boxes - instead, an actual story
    ✓ Underdog, gritty MC
    ✓ Friends in small places
✓ Unusual setting (sprawling underground prison filled with criminal gangs)
    ✓ Preliminary evidence of a thought-out plot
Of all the stories currently on Rising Stars, this is by far the most appealing. I expect good things.

Brother I don't know how the fuck it happened I was reading this here on RR and now I own it on audible. What the hell happened?!? My guy this story grabbed me so fast holy shit I think I went blind with something when I came to I had it up on audible already paid and downloaded. This has quite an interesting take on the Druid class, he's not your typical "I love nature types", in fact it's one of the last classes you'd expect the MC to gain. He in effect links up with the vermin of the city, starting with the rats. It works though and makes for an enjoyable read.

if i had picked this up already finished i would have loved it. reading it as it was written was a little rough, kind of made the ending seem sudden.
but seeing as its done now im not factoring that in.
i think this story has many of the things i look for in  a book.
good main characters and side characters.
    good world building.
    good druiding.
well written, no real obvs poor grammer like mine or bad spelling over all.
    other things.
ill be honest i dont like throwing my opinion around but seeing as i got to read this wonderful story for FREE and the author asked for reviews i felt i had to.
it is a very good book and i really did enjoy it sorry im not capable to share more of the why i like it.

    Loving the series so far!
I typically read stories that follow a "good" aligned character, so the anti-hero nature of Dantes is different than what I'm used to. However, the author has written this character with so much heart it has been very enjoyable ride! It helps that Dantes, while ruthless at times, is NOT an edge-lord or cringey thankfully.
The writing and world building has very enjoyable. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Such a great end to a great story. Loved every character. Great dialogue. Great powerset.
It's funny when it needs to be. It's sad when it needs to be. It's dramatic when it needs to be.
The Anti-hero theme was followed to the end. Not like other series where the hero suddenly develops a conscience or morals are only selective. The story establishes quite early that the MC is a criminal and he follows through on that. There's even that small chapter at the end where you can glimpse "the after" of the story.
    Great Ending.

    Awesome story go read it!
The story arcs are great and flow together nicely.
The action is tight and exiting.
    The grammar etc. Top notch.
The best part is how the story grows and changes without losing the core parts that made me love it from the beginning. Best (and worst) of all. Its a completed story with a satisfying ending. Thats both rare and brave here on Royal road.

Grammar: There not really much to what I can say about this. It really is a bit subjective but I never encounter any sentence or line that is breaking the novel and mistake are quickly fix within the first hour of publishing of each chapter.
Style: The word flows well and it is really smooth. The description are the perfect amount of word, not overly detail but not too little to the point of not being able to imagine the scene. The author like to explain thing more in detail when we actually approaches a scene that require those thing like the mechanic of his power or scenery of the bar he frequently visit.
Story: The story is a revenge plot that is based of the count of monte christo but just because it is based on something doesn't mean it not original because I really enjoy the pacing of this novel. There is always something to progress the plot further during every 5 chapter. I feel that it is actually quite properly pace compare to what other said. The first arc is meant to break out of prison Afterall.
Character: The character really feel ingrained with the rest of the world, like they belong there. This belonging translate really well into helping the story feel more immersive. An example is the changeling we meet at the beginning, we don't know what her crime is but when act 2 come around, we are given a really good reason why changeling should be all in prison. Well turn out, those character we met earlier play an integral role in the Mc life.
    ----
TLDR: The book is cool because it explore the concept of an urban druid who must contend with both his criminal life and his druidic power.
