Descending Hell

On Lleria, everybody knows what a dungeon is. They’re big, magical holes in the ground filled with similarly magical monsters. How are dungeons formed? Simple. Purified mana collects underground over centuries, slowly condensing into something that eventually becomes a sentient rock. A very, very, dumb rock. That’s why so many dungeons are under the control of the civilized races — they’re one-trick ponies.

That’s also why control of dungeon cores is so strictly regulated. When you add actualintelligenceto something capable of bending the world to its will so easily, you get an utter nightmare.

If normal dungeon delves are like spelunking in a beast’s belly, delving a mastered dungeon that didn’t want to be delved would be akin to descending the circles of Hell itself.
