Each year, teens around the country are spirited away to other worlds to fight on their behalf. This department has been empowered to take all necessary action toward their recovery. Cole had his entire career planned out. Another year in the Airborne, then Ranger School, then applying to Special Forces—until his fireteam was plucked from a war in Syria and thrust into a world of demons with an endless appetite for human hearts. Suddenly, Russian mercs and loyalist fighters didn’t seem so bad. Barely getting his squad to safety with the aid of an enigmatic government organization, the Department of Otherworld Rescue, Cole gets the opportunity to repay the favor by joining as an elite operative responsible for venturing to other worlds to retrive stolen children and teens. These dying, desperate worlds run on strange rules enforced by vindictive gods and omniscient systems, and they’re filled with monsters, demons, and worse. But playing in their sandbox lets Cole and his team share in their rewards. Rewards that could elevate even an ordinary soldier into a one man army, if Cole can overcome the challenges each new world brings. The author has clearly put some thought into the structure of how such an organization would function and how it would be funded, as well as the complications inherent to rescuing summons from other worlds.
    There's some amazing action, but the real gem is in the character development and the relationships.

    I am very intrigued by this story and looking forward to how it plays out. And that's despite me being really not a fan of the military theme, but this one just works for me.Probably because it acknowledges that people have emotions but mostly are able to push them back as long as there's shit to do and don't need to analyze them immediately. That's not how my brain works I fortunately, but it's a realistic way to depict people used to dealing with high stress situations.Also: Many military stories "try too hard" and this one seems very relaxed in it's ways which makes it feel like the author knows how things work in the army and also how people work.Thanks for writing this wonderful story. I hope you'll keep up the good job for a long time!

    The story is well paced and easy to follow. Characters are distinctive with each easily recognizable by their quirks and actions. The details on the armaments and the military activities are not overdone but instead are reflected through brief description or conversation. Cannot wait to see where the story goes.

    It's a fresh take on the isekai idea without being an Isekai? I don't know? I can't throw it in a category, although I'm sure plenty of people will have an appropriate label for it beyond just litrpg.
    It's just a cool take seeing how the military mindset might handle ending up with monsters and starts

    This is a GOOD one, y'all, and so far at least it's been consistently excellent and continually creative. The premise is great, the characters are interesting and multidimensional (in more ways than one 😁), the settings work really well, and the author is genre aware in a way that opens the door to break the rules, in a good way, while keeping that sweet, sweet dopamine flowing. Plus, you get to learn all kinds of shiny new military acronyms! Who can argue with that?

    Most stories with a military twist have no actual idea how things work. This author has either done some actual combat, or is a god of research. Either way, the foundation of this story is rock solid.
    The actual story so far is pretty darn good. A lot of the weird issues cropping up in these stories are decently handled, and the ones that haven't could be explained later.
    It's still early in the story, but it's a guaranteed RR 5 stars, and around 8/10 real world score so far. If it keeps the quality I could see this ending up very highly ranked.

    unique concept, amazing writing, no AI bullshit and obvious AI written allegories.
    Obsessed with this POV of an Isekai, it’s so freaking cool.
    only complaint is i need more chapters, so please come read this. If enough of us band together and read it or go get the Patreon, maybe we can one day kidnap the author and force them to churn out chapters in a communal basement.

I like that it gets right into the story with action, and just enough back story to give reference and not an exhaustive recap of what levels are, etc. looking forward to future chapters since I managed to read all that’s released in one go.
