Description

Ozren Grimbrow never planned on higher education — especially not at a sentient dungeon whose entrance exam is trying to kill him. He wakes up soul-shattered, dumped into a magical Gauntlet designed for elite students, and tethered to an alien voice in his head that won’t shut up about challenge ratings and flat-pack furniture. Gifted the [Delinquent] class — a title he resents on multiple levels — Oz has no gear, no guide, and no idea what he’s doing. All he knows is that if he survives, he’llearnhis spot atNoxarcer Academy, the realms most prestigious magical institution which may or may not commit war crimes in defence of educational standards. Even beyond the gauntlet Oz isn't safe. He needs to survive dynastic dungeon politics, master a class he didn’t choose, and wrestle with the new voice in his head that won't shut up. Worse, the dungeon didn’t save him out of mercy. Noxarcer has its own agenda, and Oz may be its next weapon. What to Expect: -Character-driven progression through grit, mistakes, and dumb luck-A satirical take on magical schools, dungeon administration, and bureaucracy of levelling-LitRPG elements that focus onflavour, not numbers-A man and his dog rampaging through the Republic’s worst problems-Memorable side characters, multiple POVs (but 80% from Oz)-Some light isekai/meta humour — without the full portal fantasy treatment What Not to Expect: -Harems-Edge for edge’s sake-Stat block bloat or “level up every chapter” pacing Updates Wednesdays.

I think the author’s description is a pretty fair summary of the plot and story.  Really hope this takes off!

I don’t review many stories, mostly because of how picky I am about reading them. For this one to merit my attention like this is a big deal for me. I’m interested to see the big mystery presented in chapter one unfurl, and I want to see how our Oz handles his [Delinquent] class. It honestly reminds me of Bully (video game) mixed with a classic D&D flavored setting, mixed with some Dungeon Keeper. So— basically my favorite kind of thing.

I came to this book because of the author's other and better known work 'Arthurian Cultivation'. I expected it to be similar to their previous work of an unorthodox bard in an old english cultivation world. The book, to me was full of surprisingly good songs and a number of well thought out power systems. So far this book, dungeon delinquent, proves to be more in line with the common dungeon delving litrpg native to royal road. The jury is still out on whether or not it comes with an Earthling reincarnation plot (I hope it doesn't). Overall, it comes with the well written characters this author is known for. The reasoning behind the mc's overpoweredness aren't too convoluted. The characters seem alive, their motivations and personalities are easily digestible. And even though the main character isn't super likeable, you can tell its by design. Just like the delinquent, I am looking forward to see how this story develops. The setting itself, at least what it probably will be for the first few arcs, is a dungeon school attempting to grow and mold young minds into the next leaders of the future. It's personality also seems interesting and I look forward to see how it gets the most out of Oz. It's motivations and the restrictions that come with it place him in a place to have an outsized impact on the world around him, especially with the under-the-table support that will come.

I binge read up until the most recent chapter at the time and loved every second of it. This is a really excellent slice of escapism, I highly recommend. Briefly, the general setting is that of an academy related to dungeoneering, but the protagonist is studying to be part of the dungeon system, not a dungeon crawler. The setting and author have massive potential that has not yet been reached I really hope this guy gets more readers and keeps his interest in this story because he's got loads of talent and some cool ideas to run with in this one.

This is a lot of fun so far. I am really enjoying the world building and the mixed soul elements are done well here.  Chops is also a great departure from the more "super special" animal companions most heroes get.  Just a good boy.
Looking forward to getting out of the dungeon and seeing more of the world/characters
