Deathworld Commando: Reborn Synopsis- What happens when humanity's greatest weapon gets a second chance at life? Commander Kronos wasn't even considered to be a human but rather a weapon to be used for the greater good of his species. He was grown in a tube to be the perfect weapon, so he lacked many emotions/experiences most people take for granted. Upon experiencing some emotions for the first time he was quickly eliminated by humanity and was reborn into a world of swords and sorcery, getting a second lease on life.Of course, he didn't see it that way at the start and thought he was being fooled. It took a near-death experience and a lot of growing up, but he finally decided to keep his promise to his former comrades and give his new life an honest try.Embark on the story of the former Commander of Hades Squad as he settles into his new life as the Dark Elf Kaladin Shadowheart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kind Words From Some Of My Readers- I absolutely love your writing style, as it makes the world feel so alive. Every action makes sense, and every time something happens to Kaladin, my heart races, whether it's him fighting to his hard time understanding feelings and such. To the thrill of him escaping, to his recapture back to his escape again. And that heart-pounding experience as he meets up with the adventures, to when they betray him. Your world feels so alive, I am in awe, and I cannot wait till this gets an anime. Thank you for all you do - sincerely a book fanatic. - Fallenking101 on Discord. I just binged read from Prologue 1 in a period of 2 days. This right there has got to be one of the best stories I've read on HFY. Amazing writing with a captivating world and setting, relatable and "Human" characters, and a great conflict driving the story. I need to see how it ends, and I hope the end is far away.- Choice_Safe471 on Reddit. I've done exactly what Choice_Safe did, binged it hard. I gotta say, bro, I was a sobbing mess last night reading volume 1. I let myself get immersed, and I was completely pummelled by that last chapter. You've got another big fan!- Ronin-Vs-World on Reddit. I love your story a lot, and I love the effort you put into it to make each chapter long enough to take some time to think about what's going on. You've got an awesome twist on the normal idea of a reincarnation fantasy with the MC being a lot more serious than some other all-powerful godlike idiot of an MC. There are elements of soft-Sci-Fi but Sci-Fi is not the primary genre. This is a progression story. It starts from before reincarnation, then to his eventual rebirth, and will hopefully follow his life as he continues to change and grow. This story focuses on the rebirth of the MC and his new life in a new world. Although there is combat and adventure, this story is mainly about the MC's personal growth/withering as a person. It is about the connections he forms with the people in this new world, for better or worse. This is not a power fantasy nor a military/mil-sim story. Although the MC was a powerful soldier in his previous life that is no longer the case considering the circumstances of his reincarnation. However, this does not mean the MC is weak nor has he forgotten about his past life. He will become stronger in a "realistic way" through time, training, and overcoming obstacles. This is the story of a former soldier who was used as a tool by his species. He is attempting to live a new "normal" life on his terms. The MC openly rejects his previous life as he strives to be a better version of himself. However, the world has different plans. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello and welcome to my story, this is my first attempt at a fiction so feel free to leave suggestions/comments if you see anything. Full disclosure, this review is coming from someone who is is a longtime lurker, so I may not articulate my feelings as well as I would like to.
Which is unfortunate, because this deserves to be done justice.
Admittedly, (At first, of course) I had avoided this story because I had seen several similar titles around the web that all blended together to me into a big ball of cheesy lines and self insert powertrips. And I was so very, very wrong.
The author manages to check all the boxes for me, so I can't rightly say how it will match up for anybody else, but I can point out a few of the things that struck well.
The interactions and conversations between the characters is nothing short of masterful. Every character is complex; stable enough to be understood with rational ideas and legitimate reasons to believe or act on them, packed full of personalities fluid enough to feel alive.
I never once felt forced to read a chapter. Wonderful pacing, every release feels important. Never had that 'I have to read this part in case it's important later' feeling. And this story weaves such a wonderful web of heartfelt moments, tribulations, tragedy, and growth, culminating into moments that had me genuinely cheering and laughing with those in print. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here.
There is so much more that I can say, but I really would recommend looking at the other reviews and seeing what better wordsmiths than I have to say here.
If you do take anything from this, let it be the assumption I made right at the top of this review. Read this and see for yourself!

This story does well at combing both slice of life and action/adventure story telling. I was pleasantly surprised when I started to read this novel at just how well the story is being executed!  The author does great showing the growth of the character, though his lack of still not understanding certain things is taking a while!  I can't wait to see what happens to kaladin, the main character, in the future!

This story has done a better job with the reincarnated into a child than any I have read. Is it a perfect story? no, but it hits all the emotional beats it needs to, has strong worldbuilding, and generally is just alot of fun.......in a tragic kinda way :p
Have no complaintes on the grammer. Paccing can be a bit wonky when the story decides it needs to move forward. Action is handled quite well.

If you are reading this, stop now and just read the story. I personally lost a lot of sleep reading this, and I can only say that about a few stories. Even fewer have kept me reading after I caught up, but DCR definatley does.Honestly, there aren't many (if any) flaws to speak of. The grammar is exelent (but not overbearing), I don't feel many words or phrases repeat, and the dialogue and fights are smooth and easy to imagine. The world itself feels large and complete while still leaving questions/mystery to be explored. As a bonus, the MC doesn't whine, he has reasonable and serious flaws, he's powerful (but doesn't get to out of hand right off the bat), and makes logical and intellegent decisions that fit within his character.I find that the magic system presented is quite interesting. Although I personally prefer more open-ended/less restrictive systems, DCR's has a lot of potential for unique magic/creativity on the author's part (which is thankfully not overused). Many magic systems I've seen are quite cookie cutter, which takes me out of the story if not used perfectly, and DCR executes its magic use quite well.PS: I've read up to the current chapter (and a little beyond) before making this review.Team Silvia all the way

I really like this story. RangerFrank is a really talented writer and I think he managed the character progression of MC from emotionless killing machine to.... slightly more emotional killing machine pretty well. Some parts of the story get pretty dark but personally I like when the author tortures the Mc…the vengeance and the drive that follows always seem more real. The story flow makes sense and there are no plot holes that I noticed. Maybe just some small inconsistencies... like dude I still can’t get over the fact that you want us to believe he invaded 815 whole planets in 15 years... that's one planet a week! Like how??
Writing style makes it really easy to follow the story and you can tell how much the author has improved while writing this series. I literally binged it in a few days and I wholly enjoyed the ride.
I maybe only have one piece of advice for the author. Like if there is a big threat coming it really helps the story flow to give some hints about what's about to happen. Not just a single word said 20 chapter prior, but maybe some povs of someone witnessing what's happening. Suspence and stuff you know. That's said I know nothing about writing so you can do what you want with it.
Other than that it's really one of the few gems in this website. Just read it, it's good.

It's a nice story with a hint of everything within, albeit with a lighter tone than a darker one. I tend to turn my brain off when reading and just enjoy stories for what they have, a habit from a few years of reading xianxia, and this story has what i enjoy. Large chapters, a lot of chapters, bits of action and darkness, bits of affection and wholesomeness, an all in one story in my eyes.

To start this off, I've read all 2000~ pages of what's up of this story. The fact that it's kept me engrossed for so long means it's automatically deserving of 5 stars.
Beyond that, this is a slow-burn isekai story where the MC eventually gets OP. It feels very much like an anime in style, with the mostly oblivious powerful male MC and lots of female secondary characters who all completely fawn over him. The characters are all engaging and memorable, and the occasional shifts to side characters' POVs never feel annoying or unwanted. The grammar and style are, overall, really good.
There aren't really any terrible issues I have with this book, but there are a few annoyances. The MC is absolutely swarmed with princess-type side characters that are all the same age as him and are unreasonably fascinated with him. Probably the biggest annoyance is that each book (currently on book 6) features a different environment and new cast of characters...which isn't necessarily bad. But it's annoying when the characters I fell in love with in the previous book and who I want to see more of are discarded in favor of a new cast of side characters.
Book 4 is the first time any characters are actually repeated (aside from the MC), and in book 6 we're FINALLY coming back to some of the characters from the earlier books, some 1500 pages or so later. And other characters we still haven't seen returned, though their return has been foreshadowed since the beginning.
As feedback for the author, I'd highly recommend editing some of the first few chapters, as the first ~5 or so had quite a few tense-switching mistakes, which is one of my biggest personal pet peeves and almost had me dropping the story before it even started. Also, the use of italics in some places seems strange to me -- oftentimes it's used for the MC's thoughts, but then other times it's used on random lines or sometimes on dialogue that I can't see a reason for.
I personally wasn't a fan of the big finale of book 5, simply

I think, this novel is unique. In a sense, this is what every novel on Royal Road is supposed to be... We can see a clearly defined plot, character development and realistic dialogs. The funniest thing is, you can find a similar novel called Super-Soldier in Another World. It has very similar premise, but very different execution. I would go as far as to say, you can compare this novel to Super-Soldier in Another World and see how better not to write this kind of literature. Because, it always amazes me how different two similar novels could be. I mentioned different novel as a point of comparison to this one. If you want interesting plot, a real novel with excellent plot points you need to read it. There will be no action for the sake of action, as in every clearly defined plot everything serves its purpose. My only complaint is, mc got too many cool abilities. For example: he has about four different schools of magic available to him at the point of last chapter. He also learning many various different abilities. You could say he got so many magic abilities because of his nature. I say he just doesn't need them. He's got at best few spells mastered for each school. Why won't he explore more of each school, rather than search for something new? I'd say he's got too much on his plate already... He could learn more fire magic spells or more lightning type spells. Why try to combine them, if you know nothing about them? I get that it's a logical result of him needing to gain power fast in unstable environment, but i hope that's something we'll see in future chapters.

This is probably one of the most addictive stories I have read in a long time. The only real downside is waiting for the next chapter to drop. The reasons for that addictive nature range from amazing characters a world that while it takes inspiration from other media seems to be almost completely new (this preceptionmighr be becaus im a dunce idk). Anyways come for the action stay for the tsundere emotional suport vampire.

Hi, I have read this series since the start on Reddit, and I feel the need to shout at everyone here that this is very good, and it has become one of my favourite, it's fairly reagular with 2 chapters every week, and not at a low quality, it's got a really intersting magic sistem, likeable character, and I am very fond of the worldbulding that the author is doing and the protagonist is actually rather clever yet he still has actual character flaws.
In short, this is some good stuff, and you should read it.
