This story is a fun take on the concept of the dark Lord's army and the type of management is needed to run such a diverse species.
The MC kip is a loveable coward who shows what would happen if you have a low level worker suddenly put in charge. I can't wait to see how he grows into his role and how different his style of leadership will affect the army.

I am up to chapter 17 in this story where a weak trap engineer becomes the Dark Lord of the dungeon. So interesting to start with what is normally a minor character and make him the main one but don't give him any enhanced abilities and instead write as he learns and grows.  I do like that he is succeeding because he was already a friend to so many in the dungeon.  It's also very cool to be on the dungeon side instead of the adventurer's side.  I'm looking forward to continuing this story.

a fun romp of a story that follows a gentle kobold in well over his head. If your looking something that you can sit down with, and enjoy a bit of wit and cleverness in your lit rpg you are in for a good time.  I think that this story does an excellent job of setting its premise and following through on it.

The story is even funnier than the blurb promises.
Kip is a very likable, bit naive character, that comes in to an extraordinary situation and makes the best out of it.
Love the banter between the characters, love the storyline, the humour is great.
Can highly recommend to read this.

The Dark Lord Left For Cigarettes is a fun story about an under-leveled kobold who is suddenly made the new Dark Lord when the previous one disappears. We follow Kip as he learns how to manage the dungeon and grows as a character. He doesn’t become instantly powerful or know everything. Kip makes mistakes, a lot of them, but this also makes him feel like a real character. Every time he fails, Kip learns from it and becomes a slightly better Dark Lord. I think that this is one of the story’s greatest strengths. As he grows stronger, we can expect greater threats to continuously challenge Kip and push him to grow, or die.

The world feels lived in.  The characters feel well-thought out.  Excited to keep reading!
    I wonder...
what kip's level ups will look like?  How will he grow as a dragon?  Will we see the Dark Lord at anytime during this story?
Excited to see him level up and to meet more fine people from the castle!

It is exactly what it says on the tin. I would prefer it had the same title as an ad about it, the one that said "This is Kip. Kip is cooked." because it would (to me) seem a lot more interesting — the story isn't about the dark lord going out for a cigarette, it's about Kip tryna turn off the cooker.
So far? Pretty damn good. I'll admit, I wrote this in hopes of being mentioned as a character, y'know, stroke my ego a bit. But regardless of that offer, I say that it's worth your time to read all about the wittle cute lil kobold praying to all that is unholy that he will not get his ass kicked.
To reiterate, or as the kids call it, TL;DR:
Unique concept, executed well. Worth your time.

    Ok, lilTwerp,
I am a dragon from the island nation of Singapore, a land far from here. I came here to explore.(Singapore too small) and wanted to have fun.

First off, this is not a story with “quick pacing.” It’s already novel-length and barely anything has happened other than show that while Kip has the mindset to care for a dark lord’s minions, he lacks the everything else to act on it. This includes the support of the minions.
It pains me to no end to rate a kobold story this low, but when I’m 34 chapters in and am rooting for a pig more than the main character - who’s supposed to have been head of traps before his untimely promotion to Dark Lord - something’s wrong. In the length of a small novel, we’ve gone from nothing no nothing, with as of my point in the series THREE challenges to succession, and minions that do their best work when disobeying their dark lord (when they aren’t just straight-up leaving.) I’m going to keep reading for the kobold, but dear lord is it rough.
The grammar and style, however, are on point. The story teeters on the edge of just being funny (again, see my frustration with the character) without going fully into absurdity. There’s a bit of a mean stroke to the humor, where the previous Dark Lord appears to have been seeking to foster community over just being despicable.
As for Kip, the main character? He was supposedly the head of traps. He’s supposed to have a good head for problem-solving. That’s allegedly his shtick. If he’s so good at it, then why is he so bad at it that it takes him constantly having others nearly die in his place to barely-survive an encounter? Maybe in the next 20 chapters it gets revealed, but I’m tempering my optimism.
In short, unless you (like me) REALLY ENJOY seeing kobolds do kobold things, this ain’t it, Chief.
