Description

On the eve of the release of the world's first true VR game, our protagonist gets isekai'd by truck-kun only to find himself in the world of Cyberpunk: Noir, the very VR game he'd been eagerly anticipating.

Good thing he watched every bit of beta tester gameplay he could get his hands on and read every review or bit of lore related to the game. He's going to need it.

His new name is Malcolm Reynolds. Purely coincidental that that's the name of the protagonist of that old TV show Firefly. But if that's the case then why the hell does he look like a young Nathan Fillion?

Mal will need to learn to navigate the complex realities of a world without police, where gangs and corporations rule a city over 100 million strong. And he'd best learn quickly.

There is a lot of potential in this story and the writing is generally pretty good. The story also starts out very promising so at the very least the author has some decent talent.
However a lot of this starts to fall apart due to the MC being rather inconsistent and unfortunately getting major cases of the stupids.
The MC stresses constantly about how this is a dangerous and scary world where everyone is out for themselves. And then proceeds to trust random strangers for no discernable reason other than it was needed for the plot? Basically the MC thinks one thing yet acts the opposite which is rather jarring.
The MC starts to get major cases of the stupids a lot as well which is sadly just frustrating to read and probably one of the biggest turn offs in a story for me. I don't mind MCs making mistakes and not being super smart all the time. But seeing characters make such obvious dumb dumbs (especially when it has already shown they should know better) is so upsetting.
I also think some clarity in the "system" would be jice as well as what things are classified as what seen completely arbitrary at the moment. Any good litrpg system works best when it has more consistency to how the system works. This could probably easily be fixed by the author sitting down and writing some rules for themselves on what makes something what and using it as a reference going forward.
There isn't much of the story written yet, so hopefully as the story progresses these improve. I think the potential is certainly there for a very good story with some tidying up.
At the very least the author has done enough for me to give it some more chapters before deciding whether or not the story is for me.
P.s. feel free to message me if any of my points need clarification Author! 😊
