Book 6, 'On the Hunt' is currently underway! Chapters are posted every Monday at 8:30 PM EST. Join the CosmosisDiscord! Caleb hasn't had a good day ever since he was abducted into outer space. The food sucks. Nobody understands a word he says. The aliens won't even let him leave his cell. Best he can tell, he'll need to fight to escape and survive. Confronted with hostile aliens, intent on holding him prisoner, Caleb chooses to dive headfirst among forces he can't understand. He'll either learn the eddies of the alien worlds he's stranded in, or else he'll never make it back home. If his hallucination of one of the other abductees can be trusted, maybe they can make it through the trials before them. At least there's no homework?

Why do reviews have to be 50 words long?
Be excellent towards each other.
Peace on Earth would be great, thank you.
Don't eat too many carbs, saturated fats won't kill you
I think that's at least 50 words now? - NewbageRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Believable main characters. Extremely realistic and thoughtful depiction of the first contact language barrier. No magic bullet that let the MC instantly learn the language, but it is handled in a way that added dramatic tension to the story, making it more interesting and compelling rather than onerous to read.
The language barrier necessitated alt povs to understand the supporting characters. And I am someone who hates being pulled away from the main/favourite char so much that I deliberately exclude "multiple lead characters" tags when searching for stories to read. But even I felt that it wasn't too onerous.
The action is generally good as well, although the MC spends the vast majority of the first book fairly helpless, and reacting to an encroaching antagonist. Looks like that will be changing in book too though, which is good because that pacing was starting to get exhausting. Looking forward to reading more in the meantime. - BullerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Can't actually say that much more than that since, you know, I haven't read much more than that. I have had trouble actually understanding a few parts of this novel, but I suppose that's where it gets it better parts from. The mild mystery of how it all fits together.
I don't normally like this type of story, but I personally think that it's very well-written. While there might be changes to how I think of this story, later on, I do think it would be a good idea to give it a try. - 71M073JRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A great mixture of cosmic horror, survival and action in a single story.
The pacing is fast, but that just adds to the feeling of urgency in the chase. Characters all feel real and incredibly fleshed out, and no complaints from me about the grammar. All in all would recommend to anyone. - ConfusedscistudentRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Cosmosis is a well-rounded, satisfying story with a large cast of characters that are very fleshed out. The story transitions seamlessly between a thriller-mystery and an action novel, and does justice to both genres. The world-building is very thought out and gives consideration to the seemingly mundane (such as logistics and infrastructure) in an alien world and makes them as every bit interesting as the fantastical.
The story places the onus is on the characters' own creativity and ingenuity, which along with the unique skill-sets that characters in the story have, makes a very refreshing approach to power scaling and presents meaningful, engaging challenges. The story also writes unreliable narrators very well.
The style of the story is very engaging - the approach the author takes to 'fight scenes' creates very entertaining and smoothly flowing prose. However, my only critique is that the pacing can be adjusted, as some parts of the story can feel slightly slow-paced when in between the arcs' major climaxes. The grammar has no major problems - only the occasional typo.
Overall, this story is a 'complete' one, not in the sense of it being finished but in that it is wholly satisfying no matter what angle you attack it from. The author is very friendly and is happy to chat in their discord, even if the readers do run their sanity dry at times. This is an underrated gem of Royal Road, and one I'd be very happy to recommend to any who are willing. - Maddened InvaderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0tl;dr: It's in my top 5 webnovels, no idea where in that 5. If you like mystery narratives and a world that make use of unique power system, this is for you.
A great read, with a completely unique power system. Adepts create matter within a certain range around them, with whatever properties they want, and the author takes this seemingly simpel concept to its extremes whilst simultanesouly imposing limitations on what can be done to prevent the protagonist from just steamrolling everything. You can give the stuff you create properties that don't exist in our real world, so the limit's your creativity.
I loved all the characters I was meant to love, and enjoyed most of the major antagonists. Caleb, Tasser, and all the other ones were great (no spoilers), and there's a feeling of stakes in most dangerous encounters, which is good.
The plot is amazing and makes use of the unique magic system very well, but my only real criticism is that it feels a little slow around some parts, as if too much time is spent building events up, but then again i'm more of a stickler for chaotic narratives, so take that with a grain of salt. - Devin RussellRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Cosmosis is currently one of my favorite webnovels. It has great character development and interaction. A powerset that has well defined rules while still leaving space for surprizes, and some pretty engaging galaxy building, which provides a nice backdrop for the small amounts of political manuevering the story features as well.
Very glad to see it updating again and will be tuning in for the future updates. - EricSRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good relationships. Interesting world building with dynamics between various factions. Protagonist with a special power. Great fighting scenes with clever applications. What more could you want in a story?
Most of the story (especially the beginning) is fast paced as the MC is trying to figure out what's going on and settles into a mix of "magical" training, interaction with other characters, and dangerous challenges - Grognard61Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I found this story to have one of the best cast of characters and one of the most dramatic starts of all the stories I have read on RR. The characters are fully fleshed out, they make mistakes, they have realistic reactions. This combined with an interesting story makes for one of the best stories on RR. A huge thank you to the author for writing it!
- NixoliumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What an excellent story!
I lost so much of my sleep schedule reading this novel. The MC isn't anyone extrodinary, but its obvious that a lot of thought went into each character. The interactions are interesting (and more importantly, believable) enough to quickly draw you into the story.
Definitely worth a read.
