Description

Welcome, Climber! Reach the top or die like trash! Gary was a disillusioned programmer, alone in a new city, burning his time on videogames but feeling unfulfilled. Trying to escape loneliness. Just when he mustered the courage to talk to the girl he liked, the Network arrived to Earth, slaughtering billions.A planet collapsed in an instant. Before the survivors could recover, they were uprooted and thrown into a vast, alien trial: the Cosmic Tower. Finding himself in a forest teeming with crippled orcs, jesters who feast on beating hearts, and mysterious cultivators, Gary's scared and alone -- again. The only way to survive is power, to grow stronger with every kill, but even stats aren't enough. He needs the power of Aura. To climb the tower, Gary must work harder, act smarter, and risk more than everyone else. But he will do it, as will the other survivors of Earth, because their planet got slaughtered. They will rise, floor by floor, and demand an explanation from the Emperor or die trying. “If the System has rules, we will break them. If clans and monsters get in our way, we will break them. If the heavens block us, we will break them. Until we’re all dead, we will reach the peak, and we will have our revenge. And Gary Steel, the Champion of Earth, will do it for us.” They will not break us. We will break them. One floor at a time.

If you like action packed litrpgs with some training arcs in between then I recommend it!

Valerios is back with another story, and I'm liking it as much as any of them. I've been around since the Road to Mastery days, and I have come to love the action packed, witty, creative and funny stories that Valerios writes. Cosmic Tower looks like it is shaping up to be a great story, I like our main character and the supporting cast and can't wait to see them grow. The world is a giant tower in the middle of the universe and I'm exscited to experience the many floors of it. This story has also made me literally laugh out loud a few times which is something that does not typiclally happen with me during progression stories. Overall I definitely reccomend checking this story out if you like any of the things mentioned earlierin the review.

it’s a slow burn for sure, but that just means there will be even more chapters to read. i went in knowing valerios work and im still pleasantly surprised by this fiction. i recommend you give it a try. i dont know what else to put to reach the word requirement.

Haven't yet figured out what part of the story is supposed to keep me reading. I felt like it took forever to get anywhere and at this point i just dont care anymore. I always try to stick around until we find out how the power system works since that can be a game changer but the bits we've seen give me zero hope and a tower story where the power system isnt up to standard is a failure waiting to be experienced

I will take the time to explain the problem. Honestly, it is a problem of the genre, exacerbated by middling and bad works in the category.
I DESPISE the whole "arrogant young master confronts someone and it spirals into infinite conflict" trope.
It's inconsistent with the world building. It's forced BAD writing. I don't care if it's part of the genre, trash is trash.
    So, context.
Either you lean on the "might makes right", or you lean on the "honor and family". The two are incompatible. You cannot be worthless scum who takes everything by force and underhanded methods while being part of a group that pushes honor. The other families of the group would hunt yours into extinction because you act like filth. You are generating problems, and in these stories the solution is usually death.
So either the group is dog eat dog trash, OR they are honor coded. Can't have someone brazenly act like the rules of the world don't apply to them while hoping the reader forgives it for the expediency of creating "villains".
Especially when the member of an "important" family is publicly mocking the death of the heir of the MAIN family. WHAT. In a culture where slights are answered with death, how can someone be so arrogantly stupid? If the author didn't forcefully change the rules for them, their whole family would be genocide. But no, they get to do whatever they want because they bad and story need bad.
    Just... No. Consistency please.
Less xianxia trashy forced situations. You created a world with many different cultures, like mages and robots. Lean on THAT.
Because in a world with alternatives to power, cultivators that act like garbage level cultivators would not exist in the first place, and be put down like the rabid dogs they are.

started real srorng with a good potential and what i thought would be a good writing about trauma and its affect for the mc.
next chapter it turned out to be such a generic litrpg story: the mc "finally feels alive", the system is "funny", the fights are meh and the characters are shallow

The writing isnt bad, and the world seems to have some depth to it,  but I just couldn't get past the unlikeable MC. Then there were multiple alternate PoVs introducing new characters that seemed like they could liven things up, then to just kill them all chapter or two later leaving me with the MC again, whom I still don't like. Maybe it gets better further in with a full support cast, but I couldn't make it.

Starts with "I will tear down the system that ruined my life", and quickly turns into "someone was nice to me so I'll join a group who wants to preserve the system".
It seems like the moment that happened the author completely forgot the core draw of their MC. By the point I've read up to it literally is picking a fight with corrupt clan recruiters and arrogant young masters.
Genuinely wasted everything that was interesting so the story could fall back on boring xianxia plots, don't bother.
