Description

In a dark future, the demonic Grim Horde rules most of the Earth, and Britain has just fallen. The last survivor of the island is the young wizard Soren Marlowe, the newest student at the Nagoya Academy of Magic. To all appearances, he is a normal enough young man, if a little girl crazy.

Little do they know that he's an exiled devil, one of the very same demons who helped destroy the fallen island! Now thrust into the middle of someone else's romantic comedy, Soren will need to think fast to keep his secret and, just maybe, find a little romance.

Note: I used to have the Mature tag on this story, until I realized that I was never going to go past about a PG-13 or light R rating.

I’ve very much been enjoying the undercover/invader/magical academy stuff so far. The characters are all fairly decent. As of chapter thirty the spelling and gra-THIS DUDE GONNA GET THE DEMON STABBED OUTTA HIM SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s really to bad they don’t have romance-horror as a genre in demon land. That or he’s got a list of contingencies a mile long.
*edit. Gave that final .5 star. I no longer have reservations based on the genre and eagerly await the sequel

Nice alternation and pacing between slice of (school) life , action, and drama.
Apart from our protagonist Soren there are all other casts (both girls and guys) with interesting personalities and pasts as well.  Best part is the fact that not every girls are just going to fall for MC for cliches reason like "he saves me in a pinch etc etc".

I have been with the story since I first discovered it, I basically found it already 30 chapters in and binged it to catch-up and now I read every update that comes out.
I really enjoy the writing style of the story, its fun to know that everything’s going to be ok; because it’s a memoir, but still get blindsided when the author tells us how the hell our main character got into or out of a certain situation. The characters in the story seem pretty relatable to what you would expect from kids in school (yea the characters are all of age but their technically just kids in school). I constantly find myself thinking, yeah I could see that happening, or I could see this person doing that.
As far as the spelling and grammar go in the story it is spot on, I really enjoy catching errors..and realizing that it makes sense because of the language fabricata that the author created in the story :P
Characters themselves seem to be pretty fleshed out in most cases; I like the consistency of how the characters act, unlike most romances where someone makes a really stupid choice purely to advance the plot. It feels more to me like we have some real people, making real choices…..with a lot of influence from anime culture.
100% would recommend reading, thoroughly enjoyable, also the magic system is really neat, affinities and runic spells. Definitely my jam.

It's great! Now, i wouldn't say this is the most perfect novel for other people, though as you can see i haven't actually found anything at fault with it either yet when you consider the score of stars i give in the review, but something on this story just pulls me in and makes my heart and mind shove everything else asside for it. As it is repeatly said by some people i actually listen to though, you don't give a devil ammo, so ima gonna try to hold myself a bit.

    Where to begin here?
So I feel like transparency is needed. This story is not new to me. Infact, I can say that I know just about everything that happens in it, will happen in it, and is going to happen in it. Because DB has been my friend for a good decade plus at this point, and has used me as a sounding board for a lot of his ideas and concepts.
One thing you need to know about me going into this, I am not a harem anime guy. I'm not. I typically roll my eyes or worse when they cross my path. So a lot of my initial suggestions for his idea were to take things in a very satirical, meanspirited direction. DB though, that's not how he is.
He has a genuine love for the genre, even if he wishes it could be done better. And that's what this is. His attempt, often successful if I may say so, to make this genre the best it can be. This does not mean that this is a by the numbers retelling, either.
Infact the whole premise of the tale hinges on this fact. The true 'harem anime' gets derailed in hilarious, and often dramatic, fashion by the lead character. Soren is an outsider in all respects, even in regards to his own nature. The people he meets may appear to be familiar at first glance, but have a depth and scope to them uncommon to the genre, I would say. Soren himself is a hedonist, not because he wants to be, but because it is what is expected of him.
His journey, how he copes with having to deal with humans and human nature, is sure to be an enticing one. I can't say much more on the plot, having an insider's eye as I do. Know that there's hardly a lull in the adventure, even as it's more slice of life than heavy action. If you have an eye for Ara Ara big sisters, petite quiet chicks, energetic fun loving girls, and forceful, Student President ladies, you'll find someone for you.
And that's just this first outing! Give it a read, and let him know what you think. I think you'll find it well worth it.

Full disclosure: I've served as an editor for this novel. I know quite a bit about what is going to happen in this book, and the ones that follow. (Obligatory shameless plug: If you are interested in my services, feel free to PM me. Rates are in my bio, though I can be flexible)
Do you  like waifus? Do you like half-human, sex addicted, kleptomaniacal protagonists whose idea of commitment is paying for an extra hour; causing chaos and laying waifus on their culture shock journey of self-discovery?
Then this is the story for you.
It is written in a memoir style that sticks mostly to the present, presenting events as they happen, with occasional anecdotes thrown in about future events that happen much later. It blends comedy with a serious, sometimes somber tone as the characters deal with the major conflict of the series: humanity's potential extinction.
It's grammatically solid with no glaring issues to break the immersion (You're welcome). The pacing is tight, so events flow quickly. The timeline moves faster than the average Persona 5 play-through, despite the shared high school setting.
The characters at first glance appear to be the standard, stereotypical cutouts of the genre. This is proven false as the plot advances to reveal hidden layers of depth to the cast that keep you emotionally invested.
The plot is character driven; unsurprising given the high school setting. The characters may be in a combat school, but much of the conflict is internal as the protagonist wrestles with doing what he believes is expected of him, and fully embracing the culture in which he has immersed himself.
Overall, this is a story that is filled with many standard tropes and cliches of the genre, told in a way that deconstructs, analyzes, and subverts them in several surprising, thought-provoking ways.
And this is just the beginning.
As an editor, I missed several nap cycles to this book; but as a reader, I don't regret any of them. You won't either.

What really sets this book aside is its witty one liners and humor. There really aren't too many fictions this site that have actually made me laugh. This one is one of them.
+Decent plot that doesn't move at a snails pace
    +Interesting Characters
    +Humor
    +Magic school (love this genre)

A easy and refreshing read. Every character has it's personally, and the mc is really funny and consistent.
If I had to point a thing that I don't like is that the author jumps all sex scenes. But the book is his, he can do what he wants.
