Anime but in written form—be warned, this is a SLOW BURN.It is a slow story set around building up the character and those around him. Also, the writing is only so-so in the beginning because I'm new to this craft. It drastically improves as each part happens and gets better and better with each book. - tienunrealRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A Mushoku Tensei-esc isekai story where MC is reborn in a new world and becomes OP with previous life's knowledge. In this case our MC's rebirth comes with a price 3 favors that they will have to repay. So far the world building has been pretty interesting and with the start of the academy arc, we are getting some good charcter development/interactions. One minor gripe is that the MC's system is locked, which limits some aspects of worldbuilding as a lot of mechanics are yet unexplained. However I think the foundation is there for a great story.
- FirstNexusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0You have a lot of people, both on this website and others that say they write a slice of life, and either it gets too boring or it's really not a slice of life. That's not BTBK. This might be one of the best slice of life tagged stories I've read so far.
Style: This is in the first person POV and handled with care and perfection so far, as the reader is able to learn about the world as the MC does. It gives just enough description without sounding too flowery and is able to go hand in hand with the world building. The quotes are also very well chosen and inputted
Story: Again, this is a slice of life so far, but the story never gets boring. The MC is always doing something interesting and it's been very fun to read so far what different plans he comes up with. It also seems like it will gear up soon and the preparation for that is written perfectly
Grammar: Nothing much to say here, there are a few places where I felt the sentences or phrases could've been attached together to form longer flowing sentences, but that also feels like it could be up the the author and it was never something that detracted from the story
Characters: I love the MC, the Queen and the introduction of the gods and goddesses. It feels like an epic tale unfolding slowly, creating an epic foundation held up by the supports of the characters' amazing personalities. I am a huge fan of an OP MC so this has been an incredible read for me so far - T B CarterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is the literary equivalent of watching a world build on YouTube. This is a slow burner of a novel, an iseki where the MC's main foe is his age or rather lack of it.
Born as the only child of a powerful, almost God like queen, the MC not only has the knowledge to remake the world as he wishes, he has the opportunity... and he does so, from a very young age.
There is no great evil (yet), no action scenes and their isn't even a system in the first few chapters but this novel remains eminently readable.
The first few chapters could probably do with another editing pass, not because the grammar is bad... they just lack the polish the later chapters have.
If I were to level any criticism at this book, I'd like to see a bit more mother and son interaction to give a bit more of a human edge to the story... and that one years old is maybe a bit young to start your education.
Altogether this is a good read with great potential. - bchammerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a solid story made worse by inconsistent overuse of bolded words. Not only are way too many words bold, but the bolding also emphasizes several different things at the same time, which makes it extra frustrating to read. Unless we are supposed to understand sound effects, the things gods say, the convictions our main character holds, and locations with the same amount of emphasis. I'm not saying context doesn't provide us with a framework to understand this, I'm saying by using bolded letters the context is pushed aside. Like I said, good story so far, just a pet peeve to see any typesetting abused for emphasis when context can suffice.
- luminouslionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is the story that made me finally make an account so I could leave reviews, which should show how much I enjoy this story.
The pacing for me is enjoyable and understandable, as with rebirth I feel like there are certain cliches that make me hate other stories that this book finds a great way around, ie: a 7 year old being stronger than 99% of the population.
The grammar and style are fine, and you can see the amount of effort the author has put into this story with the formatting and extras at the beginning of most chapters.
Law is a great mc that has already begun to change and grow into himself, as well as the supporting cast that actually are characters in of themselves.
The world building is also well done and clearly shown since the beginning, with the later chapters adding context and complexity to the world. The only issue I have with this is visualizing the scale, as large measurements are given but we haven’t explored most of the alleged immense space.
the system is not ground breaking, but unique in all of the best ways to be interesting and makes the progress the characters make feel more realistic and tangible.
The only gripe I have is more of a knee jerk reaction to golem stories, as I normally bunch those up with necromancy stories in the way most are used poorly and make the personal agency and relations of the MC suffer, but so far the golems have been refreshingly used well and the story hasn’t suffered immensely because of this decision. - redaktedRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An excellent story with humor interwoven makes this a nice read. Every character has some personality built into them so you don't feel like they're just here to further the main character's agenda. I wonder what the Mars has in store for us. Can't wait to read what happens next!
- HippioScipioRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As other reviews say, this story has a humorous element that makes the world far more interesting and the characters endearing.
The character focused plot is interesting and suits my own personal preferences rather well. So I liked the style.
The world building is pretty good.
Overall, I recommend you reading it. - Killgrave1000Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I don't necessarily read that many fantasy genres nor do I expect much from them as they usually have some deterring quality like the story being too linear, too easy to guess what's going to happen and more.
However, this story is quite literally everything I want from a story and more. The action, detailing, background, character development, external view of the main character.
I don't personally believe there's many stories that can rival this master piece.
100+ chapters all of which contain incredible information and heart thumping details.
This story is the epitome of what all Fantasy authors should strive for when creating a Fantasy story.
All in all, this is by far the most well made story or at the very least top 5 in this app.
Do the author and myself a favor and read this you will not regret it. - SaxifrageRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0With all the chapters already published, we can already appreciate the immense potential of this story. The chapters are long, the world is coherent for the moment and the path taken by the protagonist is really exciting! For me it's 5 stars although I can't judge the grammar as English is not my native language.
- Genuine55Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5So far, this story is a slice of life adventure with solid lore and deep world-building. We follow an intelligent reborn MC who uses earth knowledge to grow and build businesses. I do kind of wish for more significant developments in the plot.
As the story unfolds, the initial rebirth casts a shadow on the character's personality, although the story promises growth and transformation as the protagonist matures. Crafting an adult mind within an infant's body is a hard thing to pull off, but it's got a lot of potential for growth and change.
At the heart of this are the characters - the MC, the Queen, and the various courtiers, priests, gods, and goddesses. As the story unfolds, it hints at an epic tale slowly opening up, although we've only got hints so far.
The storytelling's first-person point of view allows readers to experience the world through the MC's eyes. The author strikes a good balance between vivid descriptions and concise language. Dialogue might sometimes lean towards declarative phrases, but that doesn't detract from the overall story.
Grammar may occasionally stumble, but it doesn't distract from the story's flow
In general, this is worth a read and I certainly enjoyed it. But at the same time, I'm mostly following because it promises to become great once it gets past all the worldbuilding and our MC actually enters adulthood.
