Born to Be a Pacifist, Forced to Be a Villainess [Otome Game + Romance LitRPG]

Description
She played otome games. Now the otome game plays her. Mira, an avid player of otome games, suddenly finds herself in the world of the stat-raising otome game she’s just finished. As if that on its own isn’t bad enough, she’s become the game’s villainess, Blythe Ridge, destined for execution once the heroine attains the good ending of whichever love interest she chooses. As a connoisseur of isekai web novels, she’s convinced that all she needs to do to escape from certain death is to turn over a new leaf and stop bullying Daisy Willoughby, the heroine of the otome game. Easy peasy. Unfortunately for her, she soon finds out that she has no say in the matter—her body moves of its own will whenever certain game events have to take place. Everyone around her is bemused by her frenzied scrambling to claim that all her malicious actions, and even some of her speech, are accidental or a misunderstanding. Mira—no, it’s Blythe now—just wants to escape from the ‘villainess’ label to keep on living! ❀✿❀✿❀✿❀ Note: Anotome gameoften refers to a romance visual novel, targeted at women, with a female protagonist and male love interests. Some include stat-raising aspects. What to expect: ♥ a slow-moving character-driven story that is friendship-centric and romance-centric ♥ a focus on school slice-of-life, (extremely) eventual slowburn romance, low fantasy (It’s more like an urban fantasy, except more … modern-medieval fantasy.) ♥ litRPG system reminiscent of stat-raising dating sims; the system will (gradually) become important to the story ♥ multiple love interests, no harem ♥ as the blurb indicates, some body horror/loss ofphysicalagency at certain points. MC retains control over her mind at all times. This is the premise of the story. ♥ inspired by Hamefura [My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!] and other similar isekai'd-into-a-villainess JP light novels (no court politics) [Cover art by me. - CirinaSeaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've read MANY stories about the FMC being reincarnated as the villainous, but this one is definitely my favorite so far. Too many of them have an incompetent, overly emotional FMC that reads as more like a caricature than an actual person. This story does NOT do this. Mira reacts in the way that you'd want her to react, for the most part. I don't read a lot of third-person stories, but I was pleasantly surprised with how this one was written! I've also been enjoying the PoV changes, which I haven't found to be jarring whatsoever. I also found it interesting that Mira inherited Blythe's muscle memory! The story definitely moves a bit slowly, but I don't find it to be an issue whatsoever. There isn't a lot of filler, and it instead focuses on building each character. Too many stories neglect character development in exchange for pointless filler.
I'm really interested in who Blythe/Mira ends up with! I think she'll have an easier time dating one of the other love interests, but part of me really wants her to end up with Magnus. I'm also excited to meet the other love interests! Hoping to see one that especially irks Mira! - Coffee_ShadeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have enjoyed reading this story so far and am excited for new chapters. I find the idea of not being in control of your own actions kinda terrifying not gonna lie. I am rooting for Blythe to find a way to resist it somehow though I'm not sure if she can repair the budding friendship she had with Daisy. Anyways this story is a good one and I encourage anyone to read it! Sorry if my sentences seem off or halting I don't type long paragraph stuff unless its for reviews.
- CurseofGladstoneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Thoroughly enjoyed whats been written so far. Really hoping that when the next event comes around she is actually able to do something about it.
The first one makes sense, the second where her half-hearted measured don't suffice is also fair, but hoping she does derail things soon in some fashion - DKArthas23Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Finally decided to write this one out. Seriously, if you are here, you know the deal with these otome villainess isekai shit. Either the heroine gets outed as some sort of secret villain to make the mc look even gooder or they get romanced (or befriended)! I don't have much liking for the former but I can totally dig the latter. This story at least avoids the first sin and as a result the heroine seems like a fairly interesting person! Totally looking forward to getting to know them better either as a rival or friend of the villainess. Now, where was I? Our erstwhile villainous is fairly sympathetic gal, someone you can root for. Not an overly-impressive hypercompetent isekaid ultra-genius that leaves einstein weeping on the ground humbled to the core (which some people may well dislike!) but a normal person. The side characters mostly have their own distinctive personalities, with flaws (according to cowards who can't appreciate excellent minions) and good sides. Though, I can't quite keep all the male characters that have been introduced in my mind. There are a lot of them! The female characters are much more memorable and fun according to my objectively superior opinion and taste. So all in all, this has all the ingredients for a good slice of life fantasy highschool drama stuff and sometimes that's all you want. (But maybe there will be a bigger plot at some point?) I assume there will be romance eventually. So if you like this sort of shit, I would totally recommend this. It's definitely one of the better ones in the genre.
- Dale NivekRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Mira is doomed :). She keeps sinking deeper and deeper, and I feel so bad for her. Hopefully, her change of scenery will turn things around! All the characters are distinct with unique voices (I don't like them all: Magnus I'm looking at you), but even Sophie and Jessica are starting to make me understand them a little at least. Well written and fun. I look forward to every chapter.
- FavoniusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Im a sucker for any good Otome, so finding this was a nice surprise. The main character isn't a hypercompetent genius isekai'd person who know everything that's about to happen but rather an actual person. All the characters are great, fleshed out, and have distinct voices and personalities.
I have one tiny complaint. There aren't enough chapters :(
I need more!!!
10/10. - John FighterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like it. Personally I think it's interesting to see how someone deals with being forced to act a certain way every so often. It would be nice if there were more control over mitigating the episodes during when they were happening, but if I may make a comparison to mental issues in reality, sometimes life is just not that convenient.
I like the character interactions and descriptions of the setting. Always nice to see a main character getting waited on hand and foot. I imagine it's why people like the idea of maid/butler cafes.
Also a good lesson if you wish to take it that way in how the friends you surround yourself with can make it hard to change, but if you find yourself unable to make new friends, do you truly dare to live out your days friendless than to do the perhaps morally right thing? Perhaps in such a situation it would be wiser to hedge your bets so to speak and spread your attention among a larger number of people. For reality is often a case of not just what is most 'correct', but also ensuring your own decisions don't impede your ability to live to the next day.
So do you believe it? Do you believe something like Mira/Blythes situation is possible? Surrounded by people deluded by their warped perception of reality, and unable to control yourself at key moments that aid in the construction and further strengthening of this deluded and warped reality you live in? - Mori FriedmanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is fun read. The jokes are very light and situational based, like the water from a pleasant stream in a forest as opposed a series of passing squalls. I find myself smiling as I read.
The grammar is solid for the most part and non-distracting with only a few places that didn't quite land right, probably more for regional dialect diferences than anything else.
The author isn't kidding when they say this is a slow burn. It's a delightful slow burn working through the day from breakfast till bed. However, It's not boring. Something is happening at each and every turn. Having the isakied person with a patchy memory of the game is a great bonus and wonderful trope inversion that really makes this work. I can feel the confusion of the MC and I understand her motives perfectly.
I also enjoy the brief out of character moments. These are strongly used to add character and humor to following scenes that might be lost otherwise.
Mira-Blythe is believable character that requires very little suspension of disbelief making for a very easy, mentally relaxing read. Characters are also fed in edible chunks to the monster (just checking to see if you were still reading) to the reader and helpfully color coded to ease in keeping them straight in your mind.
I effectively got this far on a Saturday afternoon and will keep reading. - Random person 39Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fun story in a gnere I like, one of the nice things about the story is the fact it doesn't feel like the protagonist has a knowledge about the world beyond that of a actual person casually playing a game they like.
The characters feel multidimensional and not just have a black and white morality.
I would recommend reading the book it is funy and relaxing - scarney5545Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Good writing over all but just cant get past the will of the game thing. Characters seem to be great but mc is really inconsistent or maybe its just me. Flow of the story is abit up and down and overall feels like more of a railroad then a road trip.
