What happens when a mortal becomes a God?

When despair consumes him, a mortal is thrust into divinity...

Jalen started his last day of high school like any other 18-year-old, ready to face the world with dreams of making it big with as little effort as possible. However, things took a tragic turn when he received a devastating call from his sister, stating that their mother had collapsed again. His mother’s death, coupled with a gut-wrenching betrayal, plunged him into despair, and soon he found himself alone, abandoned, and consumed by the hungry streets of Hermosville.

Just when all hope seemed lost, a mysterious golden-eyed monkey appeared, offering a way out. “You are traversing on a path of self-destruction, mortal. Follow me, and I’ll make better use of you.”.

Faced with no other option, he must discard his humanity and embark on a journey as a newborn Cosmic God, or else, everything he holds dear will cease to exist. The Cosmic God in charge of Earth has gone missing, and without a God at the helm overseeing things, its divine energy, the very phenomenon that grants superpowers will end it all.

What to expect:2,000-word chapters, anti-hero protagonist, superhero heavy, slow rise of his power base on Earth, and divine conflicts.

Imagine everything that could go wrong in the course of a day. Especially a day that should have been a celebration. In Birth of a Cosmonar, the author absolutely decimates the high school student Jalen and brings him to his lowest point.  But to quote one of my favorite shows: "When we hit our lowest point, we are open to our greatest change."
Birth of a Cosmonar is a YA style urban fantasy with Marvel like elements of Gods and super powers. A prize winning formula and one that gripped me immediately. The author has captured both the gritty darkness of the realism side and the fantasy side of other worlds.
All of the characters have distinct personalities and even Jalen's classmates at the start are clearly defined and I could picture them in my head. But my favorite character is a certain golden monkey that whisks Jalen to another world.
The grammar was quite good. I didn't see much mistakes at all if any really. While mistakes aren't a deal breaker for me on fiction, this one had nothing at all that took me out of the action and the drama.
There is a hot market for the genre this author is writing in, and having fully enjoyed it, I implore them to get it published one day as I could see it selling plenty! This is a huge compliment and I have added it to the list of books on here I plan on reading

Picture a day filled with unexpected challenges, overshadowing what was meant to be a joyous occasion. In "Birth of a Cosmonar," the author thrusts high schooler Jalen into a whirlwind of adversity, testing him in ways he never imagined. Yet, as a beloved show once said, "When we hit rock bottom, we are poised for our greatest transformation." "Birth of a Cosmonar" delves into the realm of YA urban fantasy with a unique blend of gods and superpowers reminiscent of Marvel's storytelling. This fusion immediately drew me in, seamlessly interweaving gritty realism with fantastical elements. The characters are vividly portrayed, each with their own distinct personalities. Even Jalen's classmates are fleshed out, making them easy to visualize. Yet, it's a certain golden monkey who steals the spotlight, propelling Jalen into a world of adventure. The grammar is impeccable, with hardly a flaw to be found. While minor errors typically don't bother me in fiction, the flawless execution here kept me fully engaged in the unfolding drama. There's a palpable demand for the genre this author has skillfully tapped into. I sincerely hope to see "Birth of a Cosmonar" published one day—it has all the makings of a bestselling sensation. This glowing recommendation has certainly earned its place on my list of must-reads.

Birth of a Cosmonar starts out really good... or really bad if you're the MC lol. Jalen, our uh... rather unfortunate mc gets sucker punched by pretty much all angles of life in the span of 24 hours (on his birthday no less!). But I guess it's all worth it because then he's offered godlike powers, it kinda felt like those slideshow options you see on ig or tiktok lmao. Anyway, I got heavy vibes of inspiration from Marvel and other various fictional universes, so if you're into that stuff, check out this story. Definitely feels like an origin story so far. Ok, let's get into the categories...
Style: MY WORD, let's talk about the imagery, AND the pacing. This author knows how to write a story, and the visualization is incredible.
Story: Each chapter flows well from one to the next. The worldbuilding is well established and the mc is very rootable
    Grammar: No issues at all
Character: I think I'm more intrigued by the story so far but the characters are definitely a close second. I'm excited to see how Jalen develops moving forward.
Overall: I'm definitely excited to continue reading from where I'm at. Top score for a top story, I highly recommend Birth of a Cosmonar

Get ready for a wild, action-packed adventure with Birth of a Cosmonar! This super cool book mixes awesome fantasy worlds with real-life struggles, kind of like fantasy movies. From the first few pages, you get sucked into main character Jalen's crazy day that just keeps getting worse and worse. Poor guy can't catch a break! But then out of nowhere, a golden monkey appears and whisks Jalen away to an amazing new realm filled with mighty gods and incredible superpowers. Talk about an epic quest!
The story moves along at a face-paced, exciting clip, making it a total page-turner. But the writing is so clear and filled with vivid details that it's easy to picture everything unfolding vividly in your mind's eye. All the characters, even Jalen's classmates, feel like real, fleshed-out people you know. You'll quickly find yourself rooting for the flawed but likable Jalen as he gets in over his head.
What's really cool is how the author perfectly blends real-world drama with imaginative fantasy scenes. It's got tons of eye-popping action and wild magical battles, but also deeper emotional arcs as relationships get tested. And props to the author for nailing the grammar - there are no distracting mistakes, just pure immersion in Jalen's superhero-like origin story.
With its creative worldbuilding, cinematic visuals, and gripping narrative, Birth of a Cosmonar brings the thrill of comic book adventures to life on the page.  I can't wait for whatever comes next after this!

I loved the concept and the author's take on it. With each chapter, I find myself engrossed and wanting to read the next chapter. So I would say it is a win for me as for the chapters I read
I didn't find any significant grammar mistakes as I am a non-native English speaker trying to learn more. Since the story mentioned the AI assistance, at some part, the usage of words made me reread to get the proper meaning as I am not familiar with many significant and high-level words, but it's just me.
The Characters and plot are excellent, and with the author's description and story flow, I could understand it easily.
The pacing could have been a little bit slower since I find it is a little bit fast and could have been added more layer if the pacing is little slower. I am not complaining, but a suggestion
The writing style is straightforward to understand and overall something new to read and like.!!!
Hoping to see other chapters in future to read and see how the story evolves, as there is so much potential to this. And hoping that the author would keep on getting better and great.

This story, as the first of this author's novels, alone has shown how competent the author is. From the fact that the characters seem actually human to the fact that this isn't a damn cultivation novel where the mc is fighting a uphill battle (FOR NO REASON) to get stronger and is strong from the beginning. But one thing I don't like and can see probably happening in the future is the mc stuck pretending to be mortal or "superhuman" thereby completely shunning his actual identity and existence which most mc's in these types of novels do. I just hope that's not the case and the author goes the route that very few ever do. All in all from the first chapter alone this novel had me hooked, from the 2nd and 3rd chapters already had me saying that we might be seeing the rise of a new George RR Martin.

In general, the events of Birth of a Cosmonar progress pretty quickly. The pacing is a bit fast for me personally, but it's not a huge issue since the generally clear writing helps to smooth things out. The storyline and universe is very creative as well. I didn't find myself being confused or lost at any point. The imagery the writing provides is also great! You just get tossed into the deep end quite early.
The characters themselves are pretty good overall. There's a decent amount of separation and distinctiveness amongst them. However, I do wish they were more developed – this perhaps is an effect of the quick pacing. There isn't zero development, of course, but I felt hungry for more, especially in such an inventive world. Although I'm aware that I've only read 4 chapters, so perhaps things flourish further on in the story. I simply felt as though the dialogue and interactions, though not necessarily repetitive or boring, left room for more nuance or genuineness.
There are also some grammar and spelling errors throughout. Nothing terrible, but they broke my immersion a tad. The protagonist himself also did that on occasion. He's kind of chaotic, and felt unnatural at worst (particularly with what happened in Chapter 1), but not unenjoyable. Perhaps the author intended for that. He's written to be an antihero, after all. The situation he's found himself in is a strange one indeed, and the story could go in countless different directions.
In summary, this is a fast-paced but interesting read with lots of potential!
