    I am personally not a fan of the steampunk genre, but I gave this story a shot because I like grimdark and progression more than I dislike steampunk, and I was pleasantly surprised by the book. I think guns are pretty lame, but the rest of the sorry has been high quality. The magic is not unique but I think the author does a great job adding their own twist/take to magic. I really enjoyed the descriptions of the scenery, monsters and magic all are cohesive and engaging.

    If the synopsis speaks to you should try it. Its's pretty good. Almost gives me Lord of Mysteries vibes. If LoM was written better and had a somewhat less interesting premise. So yeah. Go for it.
