August Intruder [SOL Progression Fantasy]

Description

This story is an SOL Litrpg but the Litrpg elements start showing up around chapter 20, so please be a little patient. It is also a slow burn story. Melmarc Lockwood dreams to be a Gifted. And even if he's lucky enough to be one of the minute few to develop Skills and a Class, and go into Portals to seal them, his goal to be a Delver so powerful that fights would end with his very presence before they even begin is still very far in the distance, so far that it's almost an unreasonable dream. With an uncle with an odd penchant for collecting 'civilized discarded items,' and a murderous portal chibi, who knows what he can achieve. Average to strong MC Schedule is Tuesday and Friday

    Read this. It's excellent.
This story is a perfect balance of action, and an organic unveiling of the world.
We are learning along with the main character, and it creates an amazing sense of immersion.
If you enjoy a story with characters that feel like real people, and a world that feels like a real world, but one unlike our own, with much to discover, then this is the story for you. It starts from a well known premise, but develops it and gives it layers.
Style score: 5/5 the pacing keeps you reading. Any time there is a change of perspective it enriches the story, and enhances your understanding of things.
Story: My favourite part. My biggest complaint is that I wish it was already finished so that I didn't have to suffer the agony of waiting for the next chapter. You won't know where the story is going, and not because it's deliberately unpredictable, but because the world is layered and full of moving pieces.
Grammar: No complaints. The story flows well.
Character Score: very close to tied for first place in my heart, the characters feel like people, and characters beyond the main one receive enough development that the relationships feel meaningful.

This series is really good, in my opinion one of the best story on RR. The world building is complex, the plot develops slowly but without useless detours, the secondary characters have interesting personalities and the MC and his family members comfortably occupy center stage.I advise everyone to try to read it because, also if isn't perfect, has been so far a very pleasant reading. However, since every rose has some  thorns, let's look at the things that in my opinion could be improved:- A better division in volumes and self consistent arcs, that is an help for a possible future publishing and a little safeguard for the reader in the event that the author must quit the series.- Reduce the use of complex numeric percentage in the description of the skills of the MC, they are difficult to read and probably difficult to use consistently by the author.-When the MC acquire the August Intruder title he became "sapient", which according to the creature of the void is a monstrous intellectual evolution,  but we don't see a so great suddenly increase of MC intellect.

Very well written with a real professional vibe. No grammar errors that I have seen.
The story is very slow to unfold and I would like it a bit faster but that is a taste issue.
Told from the MC perspective but there are a few POV switches at times.
So far I would highly recommend if you don’t mind slow burn.

I've been entranced reading this story so far, fascinating MC with excellent supporting characters and an interesting family dynamic. It is very cleverly written. I wouldn't say this is slow paced. I would say it is paced perfectly, always just enough to keep you invested and when you think the story has plateaued, that is when the author hits you with an big event! Just can't wait to see how Melmarc progresses!

This story has a lot of depth and I've been reading it nonstop since picking it up. It's a cut about a lot of the other works on here and I regret to have waited so long to start reading it. The characters are complicated and fleshed out and leave you're not just reading about another MC gaining levels but rather an intricately woven story.

IF YOU STILL ON THE FENCE ABOUT READING IT AND WANT A REVIEW, I'LL FLESH IT OUT TO YOU --- ABSOLUTE BANGER, GO READ IT!
Based on the description, this is not the sort of story I would read. In fact, I don't even know how or why I got to read it. The fact is that I did, and I'm very thankful for it. This is, by far, one of the best crafted stories here on Royal Road, so far (Chapter 105), is definitely on my top 3, and depending on how the author weaves certain threads and hints of possible directions for the story, given the magnitude of certain topics the author may pursue, it should climb even higher in my list.
It's important to say that even though it's on chapter 105, I believe the story is still well in it's initial chapters, meaning it seems to be going to be a fairly long, slow-burn story.
This is the first review I write and the only reason I'm taking the time to do so is because I'm truly enjoying this story and I definitely believe it deserves a higher rating. I can't understand how it's not in the very top of the list as one of the best rated stories on RR.
By reading other reviews you might think this story to be too slice of life, too slow, etc. Trust me when I say it, it's not. I'd say it's actually on point. The first 20 chapters or so are not immediate action but they set and flesh out the world and some of the characters really well while also building up on certain mysteries, storylines and threads that get really, really interesting later on, weaving the story trough "show, don't tell". This is something the author does really well by the way and is a staple of this story throughout it's entirety so far. Although the first chapters may have more of a slice of life to them, the fact that you, the reader, knows that it's just the introduction and that things are gonna change quite a bit from there on, make some of the critics to this aspect of the story in other reviews seem a bit nonsensical to me. When I'm reading a story I want to stablish a con

It started out a bit slow but the build up was worth it! The characters are interesting and the banter is witty. The plot is familiar enough to draw you in but unique enough to make you stay. It's the Nigerian slangs that sealed it for me though. “Dey Play”

Well written story, whwrre the pacing was very appropriate in foreshadowing many things. The author planned the early chapters very well and they were relevant to the story. The grammar and spelling has been top notch and the the taken on perfecting each chapter is apparent. This is definitely one of the higher quality works on the site, hence sometimes the long wait in between chapters. For those who enjoy a quick dive into special powers off the bat - this isn't that kind of tale. However, with patience, you will find that there is something for all types of site readers. The main character is very interesting to learn about, the way in which he develops is quite interesting.Every character you're introduced to is generally shrouded by layers which slowly get peeled back overtime, leading to amazing realizations. The comic relief is generally with great purpose and done really well, I have grown fond of a particular character that I think most readers of this novel have grown to love. The mc's journey of growth leads to a lot of questions and the answers evenore like a revolving Merry go round. Each chapter later on continues to create suspense and anticipation the whole way through.Overall I would definately recommend this.

I think this is one of the best stories to have ever graced Royal Road. I really enjoy its magic system, and although the chapters are a little slow to come out I’m always so excited to see a new one. I highly recommend anyone who likes fantasy to give this a read.
