I like the mix of the party so far, particularly the friendly demon. Action is a little charge in, get almost killed, heal up, repeat so far, so hoping for more variety in tactics as they leave the tutorial. Hints at the larger universe of worlds and gods is also encouraging. Looking forward to seeing what’s next!

- VentesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Shawn Wilson (aka Dad's Bedtime Stories) has cemented himself as on of my favorite authors on the platform; he's prolific, writes good quality stuff, and has a range of stories. When he reccomended this novel (and I found out he's cowriting) I just had to check it out. Place holder 5 star rating as there's still not a whole lot published yet, but it's pretty good so far.
There's not a whole lot here yet, but what is shows a lot of promise. MC is the tortured kind that had a rough orgin pre-system and we're drip fed pieces of his past. Overall combat has been pretty solid, with a decent mix of MC vs monsters and MC and party va monsters. Stat ups/ the stat screen in general is still a little hard to parse (as it doesn't follow a integer system) but hoping to get more info on progression and classes soon. Overall no major spelling or grammer issues, side characters are likeable, only one POV so far (which is my preference outside of discrete vignettes), and some decent lore building already. Class and skill progression is still obscured but honestly with Shawn involved I'm not overly worried. I loved this storyline and that the character is developing as a person while getting stronger. I appreciate the depth of difficulty he goes to succeed, and it is just an overall great story. The author is great at relieving the tension after such scenes which tends to be difficult to get right. The relationship dynamics flow well and there's steady growth between team members which I always appreciate. I'm excited to learn more about the forces surrounding Zack and the world at large, as the author is also great about scattering little hints of the larger picture and leaving you eager for the next bit that comes along.
