Armageddon [LitRPG Apocalypse]
Community Rating
Description
There are over 600 individual muscles in the human body. Who has time to train all of them when the world's ending?
In the world of professional arm wrestling, there's only one part that matters: the arm. At least, that's how Chadwick sees it. His commitment to that idea has made him a freak of nature, one whose right arm is large and muscular enough to make weightlifters and strongmen do a double-take. Just how he likes it.
His dedication is rewarded when, just as the world goes to hell, he is granted the ability to exclusively strengthen specific parts of his body. What follows is gains. Lots and lots of gains. And with an ominous portal spewing monsters into his reality, it's not a moment too soon.
What to expect:
- System Apocalypse
- Strong to stronger MC
- Kinda dumb main character with smart sidekicks
- One particular number going BRRRR
- No harem
- A completely reasonable amount of puns and shenanigans

- zaifyrRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As far as arm based royal road fictions go, I think this one is the champ. It is off to a great start and I have nothing to complain about. Reading the story has given me several laughs and I sincerely hope it continues on for a long time.
The characters introduced are all extremely unique and memorable. They are also internally consistent and relatable. Even the parrot. I might not agree with each and every decision they make but I can understand where they are coming from. That isn’t to say that decisions made aren't dumb, but from the character's point of view they check out.
The style is good. I like the humor. A few times I laughed out loud but this is not the normal type of humor the story goes for. Instead of cheap tricks and trope subversion it's more subtle than that. I just read with a smile on my face, enjoying the absurdity that I didn’t know was possible.
Story so far is also good. There is clear direction and progression as the apocalypse unfolds. Its still new but I like the direction it’s going.
There is nothing to complain about grammatically so 5/5. - rrreaderzRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just finished, and it was exactly as advertised. Even if you find yourself screaming in your head at Chad to be more balanced, you can’t help secretly rooting for more arm strength. Funny and heart warming full of amusing and creative ideas, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. And, even better? It has an ending rather than overstaying its welcome. Well done, and many thanks!
- ATCkitRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Simply put if you like Dungeon Crawler Carl you will like this. one hell of a great start can't wait to see where it goes. fun and absurd yet quick and engaging action everything you would want from a story like this.
what do you get when a muscle brain who only focuses on building up his arm meets the end of the world you get this, hijinks with a talking parrot. I have high hopes for this series and want to see it go fare hopefully it's as fruitful as I think it will be. (and hopefully a better plot than DCC). - Andrew B. SalmonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0When the ARMageddon comes to town, this absolute Chad of a main character hits back, and hits back hard. A former arm wrestler turned one man punching army, Chad is on a quest to save his friends from the invasion of a system teeming with aggressive monsters. They don't stand a chance compared with his gnarly right hook, however. Shoulda seen that coming, huh?
Probably my favorite thing about this is that you get exactly what it says on the tin. Is it a gimmick? I guess, but it's super enjoyable all the same. Lots of fun, lots of muscles. Conquest by strength of a massive right arm. Who needs balance when you can min max your way to total victory?
Quirky animal sidekick is a bonus.
I'm not sure how serious this story is, given its tongue in cheek style and indulgence in memes and tropes. Will the author maintain the momentum long term? That remains to be seen. In the meantime, we know for sure that this story successfully riffs on the System apocalypse genre. It's too slick to be a true parody, but it's definitely poking light-hearted fun at many of the conventions of the genre. Regardless of where it lands in the scheme of things, it's easy reading and consistently entertaining. Give it a shot! - DedMan803Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a petition for a book #2. To reach the requirements of Royal Road’s minimum character limit for reviews, here is an excerpt from the MC’s Theme Song:
Where it began
I can't begin to know when
But then I know it's growin' strong
Was in the spring
And spring became the summer
Who'd have believe you'd come along? - HughgentRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is quite the humorous story.
Like "who's line is it anyways" where "the games are made up and the points don't matter" every class, skill, and point in this story is there to move things forward and provide a pun or joke. They could have had much more serious names, but this is part of the stories charm.
I particularly enjoy the 'specialization' that is going on. Focusing ONLY on the right arm is causing realistic 'gains' and 'debilitating injuries' that I can appreciate from a pseudo student of medicine and body building.
Come for the puns, stick around for the humor, but stay for the character interaction. - ObscureReflection8563Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Two things to start off. 1. There is not much content yet, so some things could(likely won't) change. 2. I have a hard time being objective about the things I like, and I like both this and the author's other story, so I am admittedly biased, but I will try my best to be objective.
The story itself is really fun, with the system being quite entertaining in its monsters, skills, and classes, and I am really excited to see how it evolves. But, I think the thing I like about the story the most is how the main character is written in a way that explains the absurdity of his actions. It would be simple to just expend a greater amount of disbelief in order to have fun, but the story is made better by how it makes sense for the character to perform some of these absurd actions. The justification just makes everything better. - RJBRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like this author's other work, so I came to check out this one. It reminds me of tongue-in-cheek fictions like 'Alpha Cultivation' and 'Mage Tank'. Such stories have to balance a fine line between being funny and laughing AT their main character too much. I think this one is nicely sympathetic, while leaving our Chad room to grow. The grammar is unobtrusively excellent.
It's early days, but so far I like how the story is developing, the main character and the tone. - TheTheoryBearRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm ngl this is one of the best fucking books I read on here the character writing and plot honestly amazing I do say maybe the descriptions of places, things and people/monsters could definitely use some work and maybe like past details and stuff better explained but honestly there is not much to complain about at all 10/10 story
- imraefiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Truly appreciate the author for ending the fic where they did. It's a crack-fic, which takes a very silly concept and plays it straight. This makes it very funny, at least for a while. They usually get pretty uninteresting and fall into the gaping pit of incomplete stories, but the author has gotten around that by ending the story at a healthy stopping point.
Kudos to the author. I've enjoyed this story and look forward to other concepts they have in mind.
