Kalin always dreamed of helping people. When the undead scourge wiped out his village and destroyed everything he knew, he saw what he needed to do.

He enrolled with the Order, whose mages roam the land with their partnered dragons, healing the sick and defending the weak.

The only problem is, Kalin didn't bond a dragon. At his ceremony, nothing happened. Without a dragon, Kalin must use his wits and the basic magic he's been taught to make a difference however he can. Along the way he'll learn that combat isn't the only way to fight, and power can come from the most unexpected places.
