Description

Born of war heroes and raised in the protective shadow of Joel Montecristo, Kiett and Claire Sigrid dream of becoming legends in the service of Averford.

They enter the mystical academies not just to prove their worth, but to carve their own legacy. As recruits, they train to wield elemental power, survive arcane trials, and face monsters that haunt the borders of the known world.

But as they climb the ranks, secrets buried beneath history begin to stir. Forbidden texts whisper truths long erased. Old names echo in the silence of sacred halls. And what began as a quest for honor becomes a descent into a truth that could shatter everything they thought they knew about their world, their family—and themselves.

Caught between loyalty and fate, Kiett and Claire must navigate a web of ancient lies, political unrest, and powers that defy mortal understanding. Because sometimes, the past doesn't stay buried.

Sometimes, it waits to be found.

I have to admit it, that beginning was unexpected and really caught me off guard. I like the style, the narrative, and the way the characters unfold around such an intense start. I’m a bit curious to learn more about the Scarlets; the general’s flashback was really well done. I’m impressed that the name of the one supposedly behind those beasts was revealed in the very first episode, some novels take a while to get there, but I guess this is just the tip of the iceberg. So far, Claire has definitely captured my attention, and Kiett intrigues me. I also like the use of German for the magical spells, and that power system based on vital links feels very original.
