Description
Unable to satisfy its directive to obtain perfection, the most powerful machine lifeform in the galaxy finds itself at the end of its life cycle. When the sun consumes it, that should have been the end.
In another world, an unusual sword appears in the Seven Killing Swords sect and the battle over it causes such a calamity that it sets two entities on an inevitable, destined collision course. One of them is Lan Xiaohui, a disciple of the sect who is betrayed by the man she is engaged to and left for dead in the sect's ancient and deadly hunting grounds with a broken cultivation. The other is the sword that is the source of great calamities due to its aura that compels all intelligent creatures to own it — an awakened treasure that possesses memories of its past incarnation as an autonomous weapon platform.
With another chance at life — one of them now a cursed, demonic sword, and the other an exiled cultivator seeking revenge — will they be able to reach the pinnacle this time and become immortal?
What to expect:
- Mature, semi-realistic storytelling with no repeating arcs.- Fast cultivation with increasing LitRPG elements as the story progresses.- An MC that is more tactical and strategic than outright just powerful.
What not to expect:
- MC that becomes human.- AI that acts and talks like a GPS.- Rampant smut or romance.

It has compelling characters with actual stories behind them that makes the plot interesting. Also the pacing of the book is excellent and overall I'd say to give it a read.
- drake_azathothRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So, I've seen some interesting criticism of the story in reviews.
Let's put this out there - this is the story of an AI reborn as a sword. Obvious given the title right? But there's something to that which frankly people used to a typical protagonist with full agency ignore.
The core of the AI's identity is that it was a tool, it was happy being a tool and being used, and this has carried over to it's existence as a sword. If you are looking for 'evil sword rebels against master, takes over their body, and goes around acting as normal asshole cultivated' because you think that's how an AI would behave you will be disappointed. The sword wants to be used as a sword. It's a fairly passive protagonist in that sense, it's goals are subordinate to it's owner.
All that aside, the MC still has agency and is frankly a more interesting character for it's limitations - it's very cool to see a new riff on a classic well-written xianxia. - Xzero314Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0"Sounds neat" is what I said before jumping into one of the best stories on the site
As you can likey guess from the title. The main character of this story is an " A.I" that has been reincarnated into a sword.
The story opens similar to many others. We witness the demise of the MC in the previous life and rebirth. Following this we get right into the meat.
The story is from the first person POV of the sword. We the readers are only made aware of the things the sword can see in its radious or things the sword is able to calculate are nearby.
Using this style, The author introduces his readers to his world through the unique perspective of the A.I Mc. Additionally to the fun way of learning about the world. The author has truly blessed us. So far there has not been a single perspective change. I typically as a reader find it unbearably boring when the author uses POV switches at all. Double so when done right after a cliff hanger. So far you will find none of that silly writing style in this story.
If there is one critisicm I could give, and this is an ironic criticism given my feelings on authors holding the readers hand like its their first lit rpg: its that I had no idea what the heck alot of the cultivation terms were. This is entirely on me, though a single time explaining what a DAO is for the benefit of readers like myself might be helpful. Google resolved this issue for me though.
The story
The prologue of the story all takes place without the sword moving an inch and yet it captivated me. As the Mc was an AI in their previous life, you can surmise a large part of the story is based on how the MC will respond with a brutal but calculated logic. The MC Couldent care less who weilds it, only that he be bathed in blood to further evolve. Yet, despite being an A.I. . The MC has character development. Due to factors we readers are unaware of. The A.I mind of our MC slowly changes over time. The concept of emotions and why it might be feeling them in itself or ot - Coldfang89Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not normally someone who enjoys heavily eastern inspired cultivation stories, but I've found myself thoroughly happy that I found this one.
I'm not sure if it's the AI, the premise, or the author's style of writing, but this fiction just "does it" for me in all the right ways. What is extremely clear though is the author has been very thoughtful when building the world and characters within it.
Definitely a Diamond in the Rough, and I highly recommend giving it a shot! - Sigfrid KorulRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Will need to read more carefully and attentively, but if you enjoy slightly indulgent, slightly nihilistic, very creative and delightfully vibrant writing, check this one out. Author clearly has a high concept and might be a tad bit to proud of themselves, but I'm here for it !
Curious how this develops
To show an example from chapter 1:
"As an object of metal and gems, I have a peculiar quirk. I have observed that my physical manifestation has a strange effect on these lifeforms. I remember vaguely, during those cycles of long hibernation, that my existence has caused much strife and discord in society, but I do not remember the exact nature of these disturbances." - Marshall75Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am enjoying the story. I like the AI's style of narration, the way he makes sense of the world and changes. The style of the prose is also very good. Pretty funny how he describes things either mundane or humane. I really love his growing relationship with the girl. I like how they come together and the things they share and the way their different. I love that he's from a futuristic world that she couldn't begin to comprehend, yet she is accepting of him in a way hos old world never could. His more humane moments are also pretty sweet, and I love how she grows stronger and looks forward. The action scenes are suspenseful and brief. Not just a string of fights that go on and on.
- DickySanchezRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have been reading this for a while and It felt rude not to leave a review.
I love the point of view of the AI, sometimes it is confusing but that is motsly when it began, author has grown with the project and the solemn poetry is true xianxia like and less "MC kills and MC gets stronger" - Astral CrystalRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Style: The style is good, the perspective of the mc is very good and the way the story is told is nice. Although in some of the action and Magic shenanigan scenes I get a bit confused as to what's happening.
Story: The story is good the concept is quite interesting with the mc being an AI which became sword. The story starts off slow but its gets better throughout. In the second volume things are still good although it takes a lot of time to make progress in some parts. All around progress is always happening but I fear with the amount of Realms it may take a lot of chapters to finish which I fear may burn out the author if it does.
Grammar: The grammar is excellent I don't remember seeing any errors.
Characters: The characters are great the mc is an AI and acts like one, he takes actions by logic and even rarely lets emotions get in its way, it's a great AI character which acts like one. But even so he does start feeling more emotions and connections throughout the story forming a connection with his user I quite like this aspect since it's character growth, although I'm a bit conflicted about his goals since it seems he wants to become the apex just because and for knowledge but I would expect a bit more. His user is also a great character she's a protagonist in her own way, she's very likeable and a bit silly, she's also a bit of a deviant. What I especially like is that she faces hardships that a cultivation protagonist faces. She doesn't have it easy and a lot of her progress is fought for in blood pain and sweat, she goes through a lot which I appreciate since the story doesn't treat her differently just for being a women she still faces hardships. The other characters are likeable and interesting but I do think sometimes the story goes with the everyone is selfish trope and she makes friend with some characters way too quickly in the second volume. - Ult the DreamerRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5There's some clunk but it's a very good story.
However you need to temper your expectations. The sword is AI, it is amoral, mostly inhuman, and it's emotions are through a simulation. However it's not accurate and the "simulated" emotions effect its decisions more than it realizes. Its past life fades in and out. Some of the things are reiterated more than necessary, and others the logic is background and can seem like leaps.
There's a few other issues where the author attempts to write what is a largely passive object character and AI while also managing to tell a story. It's not going to work for everyone.
Some of the implications of the dual cultivation scenes are things I personally wouldn't write given the stated age of the female lead, likewise Lady Yue's attentions. I read a lot of adult stories though so maybe I'm reading too much into the dual cultivation.
In universe Yue may be fine but she's creepy when you back out. Immortal of how many centuries or millennia old kissing a 17 year old in the naked hotspring, really? Granted not the worst thing I've seen glossed over in a story, or even reality, much less a Xianxia. I doubt I'll be the only one who finds the lesbian groomer master an issue though. - InslayerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I'm going to preface this review saying that the progress is fun enough and the fights are very enjoyable.
That said, the novel has too many once in a lifetime moments. So much so, that they become common and what is common is not once in a lifetime. It ends up being annoying after one point if I'm going to be honest.
However, one thing keeps me reading, and it's the characters. Both the unique dynamic and how it plays out, as well as the character development are very well written and enjoyable to read.
If you wanted to read a novel with a sword companion, this takes it a bit more literally. It's not half bad. Could use some editing though.
