Description
A new hero with the deck stacked against her... All Lexie wanted was to go to an elite college. But life deals her a bad hand and she's transported to a new world instead, where she's the ten-year-old daughter of a once-beloved hero turned supervillain. The system wants Lexie to be a hero, but she's only focused on finding a way home. Lexie’s not hero material; she’s not particularly brave or strong. Not to mention, her deck-building powers are too weak for hero work. But as an overachiever with a passion for studying, she’s confident she can ace this problem-set. After all, there’s nothing empirical research and a number two pencil can’t solve. As unstable dungeons spawn and new villains arise, Lexie needs to be more than just book-smart to survive. So, she digs deeper into her power mechanics and reverse-engineers a winning hand, one that may not beentirelylegal. Maybe Lexie will be a hero after all. But it won’t be like any of them expect. - 2ndclassnerdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have to say this is not what I expected from a DeckBuilding book. Which is why I started it, but it is so good I can't help but love it. It would be best compared to Beware of Chicken or Super Powered with its combination of Isekai, Superheroes, Mages, Magic cards and so much more. The story is a slow burn adventure with deep characters and hyjinx. I'm not sure how the book will end, I think we just got into the true rising action of the story. But I will definitely be on edge for each chapter to see how it goes.

The story is mostly slice of life with slow progression but if handled correctly this could be one of the greats.
The characters are fleshed out, the pacing is great in my opinion and best of all the dialogue flows perfectly naturally. It feels like reading real characters.
I am excited how this story progresses. - AjfluffyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story delivers a fresh take on the superhero genre, blending a slow-burn progression with deep worldbuilding and a unique power system. Lexie is a relatable, competent protagonist who relies on intellect over brute force, making her journey all the more compelling. With engaging father-daughter dynamics, school life, and a touch of superpowered bureaucracy, this is a must-read for fans of methodical growth and strategic thinking. The deck-building mechanics add a fun twist, and the steady pacing keeps you hooked. If you enjoy weak-to-strong arcs with a slice-of-life charm, this one’s worth checking out!
- Can'tBeSeenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This novel has many things going for it. Good world building, an interesting magic system, intriguing plot, and cozy interaction between the MC and her father. At times, I feel that the author tried to do too much, but it is still a fun and enjoyable read. Worth a read!
- DatateqRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall, I am really enjoying your story. The MC is likable and engaging. The world-building is complex and cleverly twisted from common tropes. For me the push/pull of the story revolves around the card magic. The only puzzling bit for me is how crippled the card magic system is. It was supposedly the foundation by which the Fae gave magic to Earth-9 that allowed them to throw off the Guardians…it just doesn’t really compute for me. Maybe I read it too fast or maybe there is a missing piece yet to be revealed, but it is a little bothersome. At any rate, thank you for sharing your time and creativity.
- DragonPaddlerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is a good story. A bit tedious on the mechanics of mana. The story is tight. No obvious way to make smarter moves. I like intelligent MCs. No Grammer problems. No spelling errors. No harem. No graphic violence. Just adding more words to hit the absolute minimum minimum minimum.
- JanxiusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been following this story for a while. Everything about the story just draws you in, makes you want the next chapter so bad that you find yourself refreshing royal road every second of the day. Lexie and her gang of friends, learning to use their powers, overcoming their weaknesses with real world threats looming on the horizon. This world feels alive, with hidden secrets at every corner. I can wait to see where it goes from here.
- KingViewRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is probably one of the best written I've seen. It doesn't have much fighting or at least not so far instead it focuses on the world and magic system. It takes time to make every character feel real with their own quirks. Its a bit slower pace because of how complete and real they make it feel but with a unpredictable and countless things to figure out and explore that holds your interest captive and doesn't let it escape.
- KukoriRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I had a lot of fun reading it. Possibly because this is exactly the type of story that appeals a lot to me - I love stories of protagonists who are smart and like research. I also think that the magic system of the story is so far very well developed and detailed, and is intermingled well with the superhero aspects of the story story. Right now my only complaint is while most of the characters are well-written, Luther Firebringer, despite having a whole chapter from his perspective, doesn't feel that way. He is supposed to be a prick, but much of the rationale behind the ways he acts feels kind of cliché and not well thought-out. Other than him, not too many other characters seem to contribute too heavily to the problems with society and heroes that the story often highlights, and there are quite a few examples of counter examples to the story's narrative, like the saintess and the telepath or Stella and her son all seeming like good people. So, it just doesn't feel like there is much to latch on to for the societal problems that the story often talks about, especially since those characters that we do know about don't seem like they are contributing all that much to any problems.
Anyways, as I said, I did like the story. I gave 4.5 stars because even though I had those criticisms, they felt kind of small with the rest of the story being so good. - MachomachoteRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Starting this work, I have to say that what surprised me the most is how long the chapters are. It’s impressive how the story develops, not only in terms of the plot but also in emotional depth and detail. Personally, I like to write reviews at the beginning and then update them as I progress, but with chapters this long, I’ve decided to do it right after finishing the third one.
The length of the chapters really gives the plot room to unfold at its own pace, allowing for a deep connection with the characters and their emotions. It’s not often you come across a narrative that takes its time to explore every aspect of the story, and that’s something I really appreciate. The story doesn’t rush to give explanations or resolve everything right away; every step feels well thought out, and each event has weight and significance, which enriches the reading experience.
The story introduces us to a world full of emotional and physical complexity. Aiden Sparrowfoot is a character whose internal struggle is as important as the action surrounding him, and the way his relationship with his daughter, Lexie, develops is heart-wrenching. Despite being an ex-villain, Aiden carries an enormous burden of guilt for not being there to protect her, and the work makes us feel the weight of that guilt in every decision he makes.
Lexie, on the other hand, is a character caught between reality and fantasy, trapped in a video game dimension that challenges everything she knew about her world. The uncertainty and confusion she feels are effectively conveyed through her inner monologue, showing us a teenager who, though stuck in incredibly strange circumstances, continues to fight for purpose and, most importantly, a way out. The contrast between her normal life and the surreal situation she finds herself in adds a layer of tension and sadness to the plot.
The pacing of the chapters is dynamic. Despite how long they are, the work keeps a good balance between action, introspection, and world-bui
