Description
Just a fun portal/Isekai litrpg slice of life. It's my second attempt at writing a story not sure how it will go.
Our Mc is killed off in our world or one close enough to it that it doesn't matter. He then meets a being powerful enough to let him reincarnate in a fantasy world but as a squirrel.

- ThrillianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I admit I'm knew to the isekai genre as a whole but...one with a squirrel protagonist is a new one to me...and also one that's winner for me regardless.
The story features an MC who is killed in a different world and finds himself a squirrel in his new life. What I like is that the MC still has a competent - if challenging - listing of stats that give him a compelling fight in this new world.
It's mostly the character's reaction to this new world - often with obscenities - that make the story so fun to read. The action is fast-paced and frenetic, but also very easy to read.
I also like how the author uses the LitRPG to entice the MC to move forward and keep trying to challenge himself, despite his very small size and obvious disadvantages. The stats themselves seem realistic yet easy to follow, for the most part.
The main character has a very relatable and engaging voice, and it's easy to both sympathize with him while also being amused by his antics and reactions.
Overall, this is a very fun isekai with a unique twist, and I can't wait to see where this squirrel goes next. - rgreadsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0At less than twelve inches tall, our Sciuridaen protagonist is definitely one of the more unique isakaied LitRPG adventurers. Previously a neckbeard with a distinct lack of common sense and self-preservation, after a close encounter of the truck-kun kind, he's now a squirrel. Same lack of self-preservation, which may be the only plausible reason he's not curled up in a fuzzy ball of terror when it appears:
1. Almost everything else out there is bigger than him,
2. Has more levels than him and,
3. Wants to eat him. Alive or dead doesn't matter much, they'll cheerfully get started either way.
It's still early and the author is definitely still finding his voice, but a coherent story without idiot balls getting passed around (with one glaring exception to kickstart the story) descriptive, well written prose with few if any grammatical issues, and the bones of a comfortably standard, cohesive LitRPG system and society, A Squirrel's Tale has a good base to launch from. More than one Rising Stars story has struggled to reach that mark.
The storyline itself is just past the first minor arc, with many potential ways to move forward. There's enough already written to be a fun, lightly crunchy LitRPG fantasy read for a few hours. Time, and the recently introduced possibility of interaction with characters beyond the protagonist, will tell if it continues in that vein or develops into something more. - librarysmilesRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Guy gets isekai'd into a squirrel after being hit by truck-kun.
This is a standard light fantasy with magic, blue system messages, monster evolution, and the Adventure Guild.
One interesting mechanic is that currently the main character has a rather small limit to his inventory. Makes me wonder what steps in the future will be taken to squirrel away his treasure.
