A Smarter Potter (HP)

What if The-Boy-Who-Lived had a little context before going into the wizarding world?

the famous Harry Potter learns about the wizarding world from a legacy he stumbled upon while escaping one of his daily beatings. What does this change?  Would he even have the same personality? Will he still be he same malleable puppet that would accept everything and sacrifice himself for the greater good? Will Dumbledore ever get those wool socks?

I've read about every halfway decent fanfiction on most sites for the HP world, decided I wanted to try. I'm really only posting to keep myself motivated to keep writing, I have a bad habit of reading or writing the beginning of something and getting bored and dropping it. Most of this is thought on the spot so take tags and warnings with a grain of salt. I take no responsibility for character or plot inconsistencies, blame the caffeine.

Typical (new to this, pls advise) spiel. Haven't wrote anything past like high school that was meant to be read by someone. This is a test for writing in 3rd person... mostly.
