A New Player in the Force

Description
A soldier wins an afterlife lottery and can live again in another universe with access to lite-Gamer powers. Not a full-on x-over, with only some elements of the Gamer genre. OC/Quasi-SI. NOTE 1: The story starts almost 4000 years before the Prequels but arrives in that era by the end of the Prologue. NOTE 2: I first published the story on Fanfiction.net 5 years ago. When I started, I felt a semi-strong GAMER/RPG style would work in a Star Wars setting, thus the early chapters have a lot of typical GAMER/RPG jargon/styling. However, after the first main arc, I started to see the flaw and the system is slowly pulled back from being a major driving force for the story. It is still there, five years and ~800k words later, but the OC drives the story, not the system. NOTE 3: I am well aware there are several issues of various quality with book one (especially the first few chapters and arcs) and while rewriting them was considered if I did that, then I'd all but start from scratch and I feel that would be a waste of the 5 years and (as of this time) 800k+ words I've written. Not to mention the time I've committed to it.

- Loki's ChildRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a Gamer Lite story, but as the story goes on that means less and less. There are some Grammar issues early on but they get better and are never to the level of not readable unless you are really OCD. The MC is pretty Badass he is nowhere near the strongest but, he is getting there. There is angst but it is plot driven and not just because the author is a Masochist that likes to see he MC suffer.
I love seeing how the MC changes the Star Wars universe all around him, even when it is not always for the good.
Grammar starts out a little choppy but gets better.
Story is very engaging I personally can't wait for the next chapter.
Possible pairing in spoiler down below.
Pairing seems to be multi, it doesn't bother me but I know it is a stopper for others. - TheShadowScionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is absolutely AMAZING! - GenPowerEveryNightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This novel has alot of great elements that I enjoy in novels. It involves a cliche (but well used and balanced) stat system similar to a Gamer interface, where the user grows stronger through experience and level-ups. These are well written and integrated into the different chapters, and despite him growing at a rapid rate it feels just and his opponents over time are equal in strength to him or greater. He is not beyond failure and it isn't written so badly that you want to drop it because the MC is so strong or so cringe. I found a great balance of him working to get stronger and equally suffering because he underestimated his opponents or thought he was strong enough to ignore important aspects of what he was getting into.
The plot is great, mostly custom while involving tidbits of Starwars lore and making you connect plot points to each other. The system-creators are in the writing here and there and its a funny / realistic fourth wall break as he interacts with them as the system updates and changes.
The romance adds an extra element of interest to the story/plot and keeps you entertained where in a classic grinding gamer-type novel you would find yourself getting bored or un-interested in the stakes at risk.
Definitely an amazing read so far. Give it a chance! There is a lot of material and don't feel bad pacing yourself. - BooktheDMRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been reading this story on Fanfiction for a while, but seeing it posted here I thought I best leave some love.
The good:
Well written narrative, with steady but meaningful progress made throughout. A little bit of a power fantasy, but sometimes that's exactly what you want, and it does so tastefully.
The bad:
Slow releases, which while not a criticism of the work itself, is the biggest downside from a casual readers perspective.
The Ugly:
Nothing ugly, just felt it needed to be added. :P - SoldiergeneralRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There aren't enough novels like this imo where you have an enjoyable system where one is interested in how the character progresses in it a while seeing how the story will unfold differently as a result of the characters actions while having a dark tone. If you are a sucker for fanfics and exploration of serious consequences for how dark the star wars universe with the force could be give it a read.
- NiksolRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is awsome.Peak Star Wars fanfiction!I have been reading it on ffnet for a long time. Glad to have it on RR.The story is epic. The characters i interesting, the power scaling appropriate. It is the rare combination of a well done SW fic and a well done LitRPG.
- Baron_TAKRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Wooooow! I have long sought for a really good AU of Star Wars. I finally found it... especially with Gamer elements which made it be the cherry on top.
There are some grammatical issues, but nothing an editor can't polish out, just in case Mr. USSExplorer intends to publish in form of a book on amazon. I, for one, would most certainly buy it.
There is a slight issue with how long the chapters are, especially if you get kicked out of the page as you read it on the phone as it is hard to find the correct passage again. Most of the time the limit of 25k word per chapter is reached, which is why there are only 52 chapters even though the novel has 3000+ pages... just in case you wonder, my dear readers.
Whatsoever, I dearly hope you won't discontinue the novel at no point. I shall swear my fealty to you if the Force accepts ;) - A morteRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This Fanfic amazingly good, every character is well developed and the MC is not overpowered as he has weaknesses that often are made clear, the story is developing very well along with the MC choices.
Also i wanna make this very, very clear as i feel the author need recognition for this cause holy shit are the chapters long compared to others stories ive read, it feels like ive read 400 chapters and the story is still a long way to finish so kudos to the autwfor making a veryyyyyyy fucking long fanfic and still be enjoyable to read. - DreadstoneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really enjoying this story so far. The writing is well done. The main character is fun to follow as he learns the force. Interested to see how his efforts divert the Canon story line.
First time for me reading a star wars isekai but I really like it! Looking forward to seeing how the story develops. - ThefurbRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is massive and clearly a labor of love for the author. Each and every character is well thought out and has indidvidual personalities. The lore from Star Wars is integrated perfectly and obviously well known and researched.
The only criticism I could possibly come up with is a very rare typo here and there. By rare I mean a misplaced letter mixed in with thousands of words.
This is such a great story that I would be willing to say if you enjoy Star Wars and don't read this you are missing out. The only true problem with this story is that I doubt it could ever be published as it is more of a complete rewrite of canon than fan fiction.
This story is awesome, in that it feels like someone watched the prequels and sequels and like the rest of us was so thoroughly disappointed in them they wanted to punch someone. Then instead they started writing a story to fix all the things they didn't like about them.
My favorite thing is that the author uses Star Wars stuff from all kinds of sources. Games, movies, comics, and novels. I loved reading the Star Wars novels right up until all of them were destroyed by the sequels. Why Disney didn't just use the Thrawn trilogy or any of the incredible books to base the sequels on is completely beyond me. This author seems to have a better plan for his story by far than those wackadoodles did for the sequels.
The depth of the authors knowledge on Star Wars characters and events adds a true depth to the story that it's hard to believe. Read this!
