- BlurRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Amazing story. Got a feeling this would be good when I saw the cover and read the synopsis. Didn't disappoint. Everything flow smoothly though I wish it'd be longer for more characters exploration and development.
No noticeable grammar mistakes.
Style is easy to read and the pacing is very good for the form.
The world building is very well done. Believable and congruent with the plot.
Characters feel full and interesting. Everyone has a role. Very good use of one-off characters, charming and impactful.
Though I feel that there are much more potential to the premise this is a nice short and sweet read that's for me going to be quite memorable. - TiddleyWinksRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Interesting premise and romance. The story flows well and the pacing is solid. The world-building is subtle and minimal, and lays just enough of a foundation for the plot to wrap around, which I thought was really well done.
The Style:
The story shines here with how their synced speech was handled with double quotes. Simple but effective. The gender symbols initially caught me off guard and put me off. It slowly grew on me as the story progressed and I came to appreciate the clarification. I think it could be done without it (and maybe come out better for it), but there's something about it that just works. It clarifies who's talking and reminds the reader that our two characters are of the opposite sex. But it's worth noting that it does draw the readers attention and will take them a while to get used to this uncommon, syntax?
Grammar:
There are no major grammar mistakes I can remember.
Story Score:
I really enjoyed the start, where they wake up and have to immediately figure out their new routine with one another.
Overall the story is paced out well and always has a double-layer to each set of conflicts, one for each Elliot. The relationship drama...there's so much of it. I initially didn't enjoy it. But it's a nice set dressing for internal conflict and really drives home the theme of the story that I absolutely adore.
Character:
I don't know if I can explain this without spoiling. I felt both Elliots didn't have enough differences? Sure, that's the whole point, but realistically shouldn't they have been modeled after being "raised different"? It seems like this is just magic when it comes down to the reasoning for their identicalities, which is fine, just a bit confusing. I say more about the Elliots down in the spoilers.
The other characters had their own quirks and personalities, which came through.
Great rom-com, drama is served with a hearty helping, and internal conflict is constant.
Spoilers going further than this line:
