Description

Farm girl Ashley Hart inherits her family farm—and the mountain of guild debt that comes with it. Unable to coax a single carrot from the dying fields, she does the only thing she can: pen a forbidden grimoire, theMortis Agrariae(“Of the Dead Fields”), and begins her descent into necromancy. What starts as a simple bid to sell carrots and scrape together a thousand goldspiralsinto ablack-marketagribusiness just outside the city where she grew up. Bone-hands till her rows; dirty coin from vampires, slavers, and other night-things fills her purse. Ashley’s public face is spotless. Her ledgers are not. And the Inquisition is watching. Adrian Skye—childhood frenemy, now a newly minted [Inquisitor]—has always had an eye on her. When her plan to secureherfuture threatens the order he serves, the next knock on her door might be a confession… or a trip to the gallows. Farming was never meant to be this lively. Expect slow-burn progression, morally gray choices, farming/life sim flavor, and a steady descent into necromancy. --- New Chapters Monday - Wednesday - Friday, with occasional updates Tuesdays and Thursdays! The side characters are all on point and the atmosphere and world building are incredible.the MC is kinda dislikable at the start but i think it really works for this story where for other stories it may have made me drop it.The dialogue is very well written and i feel like i can hear each character’s voice in my head very easily.5 stars no notes.

Great Novel! Just finished arc one and I am loving it, the emotional conflicts of the characters feel so real and they are not just 2d, not 3d but frickin 4d. My only gripes are at the start the math parts do feel info dumpy, but it leans off that as you progress, and my other gripe is that there isn’t more chapters yet!!! Keep up the good work author😊

So the story starts rough. It's really hard to feel for Ashley she just isn't a likeable character. The world is well built however and has an interesting magic system. If you like breaking bad you would like this story. The big thing is the story really starts picking up and is a great read at chapter 7 So I would highly, Highly, HIGHLY recommend you get through chapter 7 before you make a decision to drop the book.

Ashley is a complicated girl in a complicated world. The Gaming Mechanics make it so much worse. Her slice-of-life cosy farming is a poverty grind, her debts ruinous, her personality atrocious, hygiene is a greeting and her social skills non-existent.And she has to do things her way.On the positive side of the ledger, she's fiendishly smart and has a singular focus that will get her through to the other side...which is kind of the problem. For this is a world with Gods, systems, skills and classes. And some Gods, ONE god in particular, has taken a liking to Ashley and has chosen for her a particular gift, one that, well, will see her rooted out by the Inquisition and burnt at the stake as a monster. If she's not carefulCareful? Ashley is the epitome of care in what interests her, or things she's aware of. Ashley isintelligent. Ashley is notwise. So let's go for a walk in the dusk, listen to the increasing buzz of the carrion insects, the gentle creak of bones collecting farm produce and the sound of the most neutral Necromancing Farmgirl that cares not for world domination or destruction or power, but to get the harvest in on time.Score: 5 - It's fun, it's original, it's a disaster for everyone involved.Style: 5 - It's a slice of unlife and farmlife. Think Stardew Valley with SlaughterStory: 5 - Slow, measured, an absolute mess. But that's due to the characters, Ashley in particular, but everyone is their own worst enemy. I'm including the Gods in this. They know what they did.Grammar: 5 - If there are mistakes, they're fixed quickly.Character: 5+ Everyone is their own protagonist in a web of associations, relationships and responsibilities. And Ashley is a razorblade in the fluffy candy-floss of life. Forget the vampires and "Forces of Evil vs the Forces of Light", there's bland, banal evil here that creeps in and stains everyone, until the flaming Molotov of Ashley's Logic brings excitement. And flames. And Screams. And Silence.

A Farm Girl's Guide to Necromancy is what happens if you take a light GameLit that is thematically similar to RuneScape and treat it seriously, with an antihero lead. Ashley is irascible, difficult, and sometimes unfair. She's also working with scant resources in a bad situation, and doing so with admirable grit and determination. Side characters (Adrian, say) are fleshed out and meaningful. Dialogue incorporates the GameLit elements naturally, and worldbuilding isn't forced. As we get to know her a bit better, Ashly even has a sympathetic core under all that hurt. Worth giving a read.

This story is a fun read, and the main crew so far are charming to see interact with each other. So far it is nice seeing someone further travel down a forbidden path with generally good intent and to see carrots be the initial catalyst for a conversion to necromancy.

I'm only at the beginning so it's perhaps too early to say much, but the characters have depth, even the ones we've only met a little , and it gets much better and deeper through the chapters. I look forward to giving 5 stars when I read far enough to get really gripped

This story follows a nasty little girl who had too much pride for her own good. That is not to say it's bad, her being morally a bad person is kind of the entire point, if you came expecting a goodie two shoes MC then my only question is: why would you expect to find that in a story with a necromancer as the MC? MC is prideful, rude and stubborn, only time will tell if she grows or regresses but I like the story so far.

The world building is interesting, and the style of prose and description are well written, my primary gripe is that the main character is insane, and the world doesn't react to her in a believable way. She will code switch mid conversation, blow up over nothing, immediately switch emotional stances. It's jarring to the point of being nonsense. Ill be dropping here.

I am suprised with the amount of 5 star reviews, i just could not see what soo great in this story. System? Half-baked and half-explained. MC? Edgelord bumpkin with pride higher then heavens. I don't like her, and i usualy all hands up for selfish MC, but she is just not right, anoying, shooting herself in the knee every step, unknown motivations, unknown goals, she just drifting on the currents which is not what a selfish person would do. Why she even stay on this farm anyway? What binds her to this place? She hate being farmer and still stay, it's illogical and stupid. In a world with the System just sell your farm, buy the essential and go do whatever you like. I guess this story really nailed it in one thing, "Like father, like daughter", both are idiots.
