Zhaber's Curse

Darvon Zhaber spent years refining a plan to get the most out of his sacrifice to his families chained Old One, burning through all the wealth his war hero parents left him in his preparations. Yet the moment he achieves his goal, and acquires the very power he was sacrificing to, he finds himself sucked into a brutal competition to defend his plane from the invaders who killed his parents a decade back. He is one of a dozen candidates with enough backing and talent to conquer a plane of his own, one with enough resources to save his home, yet that doesn’t mean he has it easy. There is enough backstabbing and kidnapping in the plane without an invasion to deal with, now its only gotten worse. Darvon will have to rely on his creativity and allies in order to crawl through the sea of blood that stands in his way.

Zhaber's Curse is a progression fantasy, though the main character doesn’t start at zero. The whole story will span many books, and half a dozen planes. There will be politics, warfare, crafting, and quite a bit of travel. It will mainly follow one POV, but I will scatter about a few other perspectives here and there, mainly from Darvon's familiar Saria.
