Story
Zero the Hero is genuinely incredibly entertaining. It follows a boy, George, who's whisked away by mysterious means to another world, with danger around every corner and mysterious factions vying for his freedom and life, but with newfound friends he might just make it out okay and make the world better in the end.
The story does have some dark elements, but it's not depressing, and there is an underlying theme of Hope in the Darkness. It would best be described as Nobledark, at least in my own opinion.
Immediately from the get go, there is a mystery, and as the story develops past its starting point, there are more and more questions being added in a way that really makes me want to turn pages, and mysteries that are slowly unveiled in ways that leave you guessing what's real and what's fake.
Style
The story starts out a bit rough in it's writing style -- though it's still a leg up from a lot of stories -- but the author quickly improves and adds a lot of depth to their narration. The style is quite gripping and dripping with feeling; quite evocative and filtered through the lense of a characters' emotions and perspective.
Grammer
The grammar is spot on, and the author is rather attentive to fixing any mistakes that are pointed out.
Characters
This is where the story really shines. Each character has their own set of beliefs and feelings about the world and other characters and way of interpreting things that determine how they act and think in a way that's consistent and never lost my immersion; even when I don't know why something happened, there's an internal consistency that is paid off later down the line.
The character relationships are also really well done. The protagonist and his main friend are just super endearing, and grow closer through trials of fire.
