As of Chapter 27, I am enjoying Your New Slime God, Cid a great deal. To elaborate on each of my scores:
Style (8/10): The aesthetic of this series is one of its best selling points. The cover art does a wonderful job of conveying the tone of this series--whimsical and kinetic with a undeniable melancholy. I love the sci-fi/fantasy world that's been built here, and it really comes to life from the descriptions. Additionally, Cid's narration has many fun flourishes, such as his "fun facts."
Story (6/10): The plot so far is solid, with enough action and intrigue to keep me coming back. The mystery of Cid's origin is the biggest overarching mystery so far, and I am invested in seeing what is revealed in the future. The main corporate espionage and revenge plot is fine as well, though somewhat meandering at times.
Grammar (5/10): This is probably the weakest aspect of the story. The prose can feel dry and uninspired at times, and there are noticeable grammar errors and typos at points. The dialogue, while mostly fine, sometimes feels contrived and forced. However, there are more than a few memorable lines that really stick with you after reading, so I can't give this a negative score. Overall, it's amateur, but serviceable.
Character (7/10): The titular Cid is a wonderful main character. His straightforward and honorable personality is a perfect match for his unusal existence, and his unique perspectives on the role of a "god" are intriguing and amusing. He also has a great chemistry with the young Emmanuel, and I look forward to seeing how their arcs develop in tandem with each other. Other than that, no one else had been as memorable, but that will likely change as the series progresses.
Overall, I would recommend Your New Slime God, Cid to anyone with and interest in sci-fi, nonhuman protagonists, and found family. My compliments to the author, and I can see this becoming something really special in the future.
