Description

NOTE- Based on an internal discussion, please be advised the earlier chapters of this novel [Arc 0 and Arc I] is going through a major revision and rewrite to gap the 8 years experience since the first draft of this novel.

[Arc 0 - The Prologue]

Airen and Yuelei Casteya - Two twins separated in act of revenge not of their own doing. One is sent to the frozen north, where she is adopted by a frost phoenix and taught to survive in the harshest of conditions, eventually meeting with the forces that govern nature itself. The other is sent to the southern deserts and is saved by a band of slaves-turned-raiders who take him in as one of their own, where he eventually came into contact with a being that calls herself the History Eater.

The two sought power and the forces of the world would soon listen, but not without their own aspirations.

And perhaps if the two were to meet again, they would be so warped by their own hands and would not even recognize the other.

[Arc 1 - Disciple of the History Eater & Knighthood]

Under the guidance of Fieluri, the whimsical being from the Archive, Airen moves south to the Red Slate Republic to attend Stonewall Military Academy. There, he finds himself wrapped up in the History Eater's ploys, and at the same time, learns of the somber side of society in the slave-driven republic. Eventually, under Fieluri's instruction, he descends into the depths of dungeons where he eventually reunites with an old acquaintance.

Yuelei, who has grown used to living in the snowy mountains, moves north to the Holy Land of Ecclisa to attend the Royal Knight Academy. After Lin leaves, she slowly adapts to living with humans again, but not without ceaseless caution. The thinly-veiled peace is eventually broken, for the monsters that haunted the nights in the Whitefrost Mountains are returning once more. In response, the Holy Land of Ecclisa slowly prepare for war, but Yuelei is not just a mere bystander.

All paths eventually leads to conflict. When it arrives, one can choose to deter it away, or to revel in it.

This is by far, one of the best fantasy works i have read so far on Royal Road, and also the one that needs more popularity the most.
This story has one of the most well-built worlds i have read so far in Fantasy Webfiction. With every chapter adding more to the overall world and its massive history. Most of the world and its history is interconnected in some way, with more being hinted in some chapters.
The characters, how they interact with eachother, how they are related to eachother, all is written with much care and a high quality standard. Overall it has been very fun to read about the characters.
Overall this story has 2 main characters, who appear in their own Sides, named A and B, with all other viewpoints happening in the C Side chapters. Both of the main plotlines are already worthy to be a story on their own, and could be read as such, but its highly recommend to read all of the story, since the backstory from both sides does intertwine to those who notice.
Sadly even a story as excellent as this has flaws.
First the writing style, while overall being very good, there are some annoying sentences, and sometimes theres a sudden timeskip without even any incidator for it.
Secondly grammar, its mostly flawless, but there are small mistakes throughout the story.
Those two flaws through did not hinder my reading experience at all. Mostly due to how well the story is written.
Third flaw is release rate, and i would want more chapters, right now! (So please increase release rate, even if its by a tiny bit)
I would thank the author for being able to create this amazing story, and the editors for making it readable to us all. Please keep on with your work!
By all means, this story rightfully deserves to come in the spotlight, so more people can read this amazing story.

A longtime lurker on this site. In an era of predominating wuxia, lit-rpg, and isekai novels, this is a beacon of hope for something different. Even though a prior claims that this is/was an rpg game script, I will say that this is strong enough to stand on its own.
Author, please don't make it into a lit-rpg just to follow the current meta. You have something unique here, and it was that which compelled me to make a throwaway to leave a review.

Let me preface this by saying that I have been following this since it has been first uploaded on a different site, as well had having seen some of the unedited drafts.
Style- I don't think the author mentioned it here, but this originally started as an rpg game script. The Side A and Side B is well done in my opinion. I personally like to read all of one side then the other as I think that's how it is supposed to be read.
Story- Very, very ambitious. Can't say much without spoilers. Looking forward to volume 2.
Grammar- Some typos and grammar mistakes. I'm surprised that there wasn't more since each chapter is around 10k words.
Characters- The strongest point in this work. Each character is developed eventually with their own story, and some of those stories make the main characters feel as if they are only a small part of something greater.
In conclusion, those lucky enough to find this work will be in for a ride.
If I had any complaints, it is that the author doesnt have more time to devote to this work. This review is my little way of giving encouragement.

this novel is really good, usually I don’t like the split stories like this but I thought u did a very good job. Maybe you could have someone from one life go to the other but not realize who they are. Also it doesn’t seem like Arrin learns any new techniques lately just the same over and over. But the fight scenes are done extremely well. I like this work a lot please continue to write! You should also sell on amazon I think it would do good.

My onlycomplaint is that this doesn't update enough. author give us more please.
It's unique in the way it tells two stories at once, and BOTH sides are very indepth. The problem is which is is also part of my complaint.
The author usually alternates between A,B,C. So you have to wait for TWO OTHER CHAPTERS before you go back to the story. If you tend to forget things you read because you just read so much like me, it feels like a break in the flow of the story.
On the bright side, each chapter is so long that it outshines those 300-400 word chapters I see on webnovels. i think the author said each chap was like 10k word or so.
tbh i rather he/she just split it into 500-1000 word chapters so he/she updates daily.

I have spent a total of 4 years reading from this website and this is the first novel to compel me to leave a review. Simply put i think this NOVEL DESERVES A REVIEW AND MORE RECOGNITION.
Style- This novel has a unique style. The novel centres around two main characters Airen and Yuelei. Chapter labeled A are about Airen ,chapters labeled B are about Yuelei and chapters labeled C are feature events which neither protaganists is present for. After each A chapter is a B chapter which allows you to easily compare Airen's growth to Yuelei's but this can break emrsion because of the sudden shift between stories, especially when you are anxious to know about one character only for the following chapter to be about a different one.The C chapters come randomly (they dont always follow B). The author does not go into much detail while describing the setting eg we dont know exactly how Airens military uniform looks or certain plces like the training fieild in the village.
Grammar- Overall solid with a few mistakes here and there nothing to complain about.
Characters- This is the strongest part of the story. We are introduced to the main characters at the age of 12 they are 14 as of Arc 1 chater 1 A, and they actually act there age which is very pleasant as alot of novells on this site seem to forget that children dont act like adults. Airen and Yuelei are very likeable yet different, they are their own people eg the author shows through action that Airen is a bit shy, caring and has a sense of humor. Yuelei is  confident, outspokenand caring. The side characters really make this story. Most feel fleshed out and MOST of them feel like stand alone characters who have their own sense of agency completely independant of the MCs, especially in side A  this side character's are interesting and feel like they can be a hero of their own story particularly Eullina, Fieluri and keri. In side B the side characters are slightly weaker with there in my opion only being one standout that fe

I think this is the first review I write on this site, so the structure might suck. Deal with it. It is easier to critique something than do it properly yourself
    Style- 4/5
Personally I like the style this story. There are 2 main characters, and each chapter focusses on one of these characters. The chapters are quite long and each chapter focusses on one lesson or story point for one of the main characters. The C chapters focus more on world building, although a lot of it is done in during the A and B chapteers as well. I like the fact that the characters themselves are not really OP, they are little guys in a world where survival is hard. They need to learn and grow. And both characters develop themselves differently depending on the circumstances and environment they have to live in.
The only critique I have regarding the style, is the fact that sometimes it is difficult to read a chapter about main B or A, when the last chapter ended with the other main on a high note and you want to know what happens next with that main.
Now try to understand what I mean with this without reading the story yourself :)
    Story- 4/5
The story is fun. The characters develop in an interesting and realistic way. The world does not revovle around the main characters. On the background others are conducting politics and powermoves, that the main characters are not (directly) involved in (yet?).
Same critique as before, so I will just copy it: Sometimes it is difficult to read a chapter about main B or A, when the last chapter ended with the other main on a high note and you want to know what happens next with that main.
    Grammar - 4/5
Probably better than mine. Have seen some spelling mistakes or sentences that used words that did not completely make sense, but it never was annoying.
    Characters -5/5
    The highlights of the story.
The male main: Acts like a spoiled child, and his mentor has to make sure on multiple storypoints that he has to act less spoiled and be thankful for what is given

The story is well written, compelling, and openly ambitious. It multiple POV works well and both characters are interesting.
    spoilers ahead......
I got frustrated and quit, for now, due to Airen's power system. Yuli at least has to work and earn what she gets aside from her early advantage and the endless help she gets. Really both of them get pretty extreme levels of assistance from everyone around them.
For Yuli I'd like to delve into her processes a lot more. How is it she can invent a unique spell after only a few months of practicing magic? And this just shows up with no explanation or process...so the magic is fantastical and isn't a system...things just happen...how? why? You don't get to see that part as the reader. Frustrating, but at least she is working away at it, even with insane OP MC level learning speed and progress.
But Airen and his history eater...she is way way way too powerful and can bestow decades of knowledge to him in moments on her whim.
Supposedly she wants him to give her books or other key knowledge and that's why she needs the MC....it is the basis of her deal with him to give him a one man system of power....then in the same or next A chapter she's constantly stealing things on her own. So umm...what's the point of the MC? He somehow got her out of a prison of some sort?
Does she have any limits? Is she attached to him in some way besides a shared dream? She has a book, but she moves it around and into her world. Is there a distance limit on how far she can go from him? She supposedly can't be seen, but then fights some old monster who can see her. And she casts buff magic on Airen...so umm...she can just instantly win any battle she so chooses? If he is her ticket to the world and she will otherwise be imprisoned again....why would she ever allow him to come to harm? She's like a triple strength divine being...
The history eater is what...depent on the dream ritual? But our MC is told that he got the very last dose of an ancient and l

I don't often leave reviews, but I felt obligated to after dropping this story (Arc 1 chapter 7), because none of the reviews I read mentioned the prevalent grammar problems and just general writing mistakes.
I kept reading because I enjoyed the story and world and I assumed the writing would get better like a lot of stories on RR with a rough start. I thought at some point they'd get an editor and those problems would be gone. But after reading maybe 1000 pages, I just can't keep reading it.
Judging by the regular mix-ups of past and present tense, and the overly-stiff writing style, I am guessing the author learned English as a second language, so I feel bad being so harsh, but this is exactly the kind of thing an editor is for. At the moment it reads like a poor translation of a Korean web novel.
If you're fine with that and can overlook a bunch of grammatical errors, misused words and phrases, then I recommend giving it a read. The characters could use some more depth, but the world is interesting, the power system is cool and unique, and both plots are engaging. I'd bump it up to at least 3 stars if the syntax and diction were improved. As is, the errors are so common and often jarring, it is incredibly distracting.

No idea how many pages I read, the chapters are really long -- maybe 50-75 pages?  So I think I gave it a fair shot.
The plotting feels childish, with a prince and princess kidnapped, and *instantly* artificially bouncing into vastly different power-building situations with no setup.  More troublingly, the proofreading is attrocious and there is a complete and utter lack of thought given to transitions.  For example, if the prince is fighting/flirting with the girl his age helping him train, and you are expecting a witty comeback from the prince, the next sentence will be about him falling out of a tree while on a hunt, or eating the best desert he has ever tasted.  Its incredibly jarring.
I've tried almost everything in the first few "top rated" serials, and this is the most poorly written by a huge margin.  There might be a cute story in here, and there is a LOT written apparently, but its just too hard a slog for me.
