Description
Xenia Worthy, Reincarnator Extraordinaire, has done it all. She's been a Hero (twice), a Demon Lord (briefly), and most recently did a stint as a magical talking sword. But it turns out there's at least one more type of life for her to live: the life of a sapient Dungeon Core. She's more than experienced with death, but no fan of it, so with the help of her latest SGA-assigned Guide, Guy, it's time for her to see if she can make life as a stone her best life yet. In this new world Dungeons exist to prove to mortals and gods alike who is worthy of power and who is weak. Many will challenge and some will fall, but none will remain unchanged by their experiences in Worthy Dungeon. The story features both occasional gore, and consensual funtimes of all flavors, so adult supervision is recommended. Product may contain slime girls. This story will contain standalone explicit chapters and sexual humor & references throughout. This is aside-side-project for me, however I plan on maintaining a 2-chapters-a-week schedule with updates on Tuesdays and Fridays. The story's introductory arc runs up to Chapter 26, I'd recommend trying it out up to that point if you find it interesting. I hope you enjoy! Reviews have to be at least 50 words long. - Maou RazonicaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, so. Let me start with the things that I love most about the book, And to do that, let's go over the things I claimed in the title of this review.
The pacing of this story is really well done. In particular, I'm talking about the dungeon aspects of this story. From how much time is spent in the dungeon building, to how much time is spent in the other stuff. It is something that I've noticed having read a fair few dungeon cores myself, but the amount of preparation they do can often either be to much, to be meandering or boring, or they could be not nearly enough, just glossing over the details, and failing to build up hype for the new features. This series is able to balance the dungeon building, with the time spent on other things.
As for fights. They have a more general and over the top view, not getting bogged down by the inticacies of every move and extending the battles to unreasonable degrees. This is specially important to nail for dungeon cores, which necessitates a great number of fights to occur.
I do have one complaint about the combat however, and it's how it can be difficult to follow sometimes. Particularly, because of how the book is intent to name every Challenger, usually in big batches like for a team, and then using those names as if the reader was supposed to have remembered five new characters all at once. Which hey, maybe that;s just me. And I do think the reason for that is to not so easily reveal who'd be spared or not, But still. It makes the battles so hard to follow at times.
The progression, I also specifically mentioned. It's simple enough to be understood, but complex enough for there to be something to understand. The creation of monsters is hard-magic enough to be pondered over and not be an asspull, but soft-magic enough to not be so rigid and allow for a wide variety of possibilities. Speaking of magic though. I don't think the Magic system is explained all that well for the Challenger side. The mechanics of how is missing in a - LurkonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Don't let the author's bio fool you, this is well-written, funny, interesting, and just fun to read. The smut, though not usually my thing, is also good, and is almost entirely skippable for those who aren't into the more explicit stuff. I'm currently reviewing during the inheritor arc, and a few characters may have fallen a little bit to the wayside, but I feel like the author has done a good job of making the world feel like a world and not a setting, and I'm confident that most characters will continue to make appearances as time goes on. Current arc feels like a climax to the story, but maybe there will be something with the larger world after it, excited to find out.
- BistreBlackRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Wowzers! I just caught up…and may I just say Thankyou for the epically long read, full of daring, dos, and a lot of dungeon ‘delving’ of many sorts. Loooove your character writing, and it’s very impressive how much variety you manage to maintain along with stakes that never falter, despite never leaving the premise of ‘a hole in the ground with stuff at the bottom’. Can’t recommend your work enough!
- AskalanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Worthy core is really a solid book in every regard:
- easy to follow and interesting writing style
- good pacing with engaging story arcs
-well integrated situational humor, where excellent jokes sneak up on you
- sympathic character with quite some depth to them.
- smut scenes are rich in variety and skippable,(and also well written).
All together I can't find a single point I dislike about this book. So 5 stars from me. - Jonathan ProutyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a really fun read! I binged it and now I'm waiting for more chapters. It really is well done. Now I'm just writing for word count. Now I'm just writing for word count. Now I'm just writing for word count. Now I'm just writing for word count. Now I'm just writing for word count.
- JustADudeNamedKyleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a weird freaking story... I love it but it's also full of some REALLY weird and wacky moments. It doesn't pull punches and will make you feel for our lovable mess of a main character. What really impresses me is how much it makes you feel for its minor characters, no matter how brief their inclusion. The ones they give voices to always feel like fleshed-out characters, even in flashbacks where we will definitely never see the characters again.
- Endless PavingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The first thing you need to know about this story is that it can bend towards being wacky a good majority of the time. The protagonist has a few initially unexpected attributes that makes the dungeon more powerful and stuff, but they are also used to add stuff like humour and awkwardness. In fact it made one encounter just the right kind of awkward that the dungeon was sort of made to spare a crazy lady (that had actual chracter motivationa dn depth mind you) that was explocitly trying to destroy the dungeon repeatedly. The first attribute is mostly used initially to just have a bunch pf delvers be really bad and death prone initially, but is also contrastingly used to empower another party in an hilarious fashion down the line. Like walking into the maws of Death in complete ignorance and coming out with loot because you accidentally tripped Death into a pratt fall style humour.
And Death there is. This is one of those confrontational but rational type dungeons where it isn't all MurderHobo and the mortals don't just invade in droves of instantly perishing masses in some dungeon breaking obsession. No. The dungeon is deadly. Highly deadly. And yet that's mostly the dungeon not pulling its punches in a fair fight. The dungeon is also not invulnerable and is frequently raided at tomes where the delvers could just pluck the life out of it. There is threat on both sides and that means there is tension from both sides with, frankly, improves the story compared to dungeon cores that end up as freakishly impenetrable bunkers as priority one.
There are many characters, and several of them are wacky, but the story does get somewhat half-serious at times like taking murdering a party of adventurers seriously as something that isn't just casually accepted first time. Though there seems little pitty for the adventurers that seem to love dying due to stupidity after like the second time. Literal amateurs.
Finally the worldbuilding. Its fine. There isn't really all that much but - Lord~RannRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall I really like the story!
thank you DaScoot for the hours of entertainment you’ve brought me!
I’ve a regular reader since approx chap 35 if I recall, originally from scribblehub and now here. On chap 176.
Regarding the story: It’s an interesting twist on things, with great setting fulfillment. The idea that the reincarnator is physically locked away, limited to their devices not knowledge, and that very early you set the scene for so many potential conflicts and situations are all great! So many stories I’ve read twist their own world settings in order to add content. So I Appreciate the commitment!
If I had one request, an interlude chapter about how other dungeons actually develop and operate would be nice besides all of the anecdotes we’ve gotten so far. Maybe from the domain or valleylands point of view.
Again, thanks for the story and chapters! - OnyxmnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a lovely story. It tickles my fancy quite well.
The characters are very interesting and they have some real depth.
The world building is amazing, deep and most importantly, entertaining.
Now, I must confess, I usually just skip the NFSW scenes and the author, being nice as they are, usually explains anything plot relevant that happened during it, so I'm not missing anything. But if you like these kind of scenes, give it a try.
Besides that, the power system is interestingly different from most other stories and quite fun.
Overall, I'm enjoying it quite a lot and would recommend it to anyone!
