- Alex OliveiraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'll just say that it's not common for me to write a review due to my lack of time, so what I'm going to say here comes straight from my heart, with all the impartiality and care possible.
.The work at the time of this comment is being developed in a very slice of life style, which for some readers could be a problem as it would be difficult for anyone looking for a book about the supernatural/werewolf to be accustomed to reading more frantic, intense, full of fighting, etc. Even for me this is a problem, but I still saw potential in this reading, argely because of the MC and so far the only character - Lucian T. EinarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0**Overall:**

Christopher Scherrer's style stands out, resembling more a polished novel than a traditional web novel. The vivid and descriptive writing immerses readers in the wild, creating a seamless mental picture. The deviation from the standard web novel style adds a refreshing touch to the storytelling.
**Story:**
The story unfolds at a deliberate pace, initially prompting questions about its direction. However, the buildup proves purposeful, laying a solid foundation for the plot. Themes of man versus nature, nature versus nature, and man versus monster add layers to the narrative. The suspenseful moments are masterfully crafted, keeping readers hooked.

In summary, Wolves and Men is a work of art that defies traditional web novel norms (at least on RR). With its beautiful writing, carefully crafted suspense, and well-developed characters, it's a must-read for those seeking a uniq - Makoto NagaiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First off I have to say this isn't your traditional web novel. It's written very much like a full-fledged novel with its painstakingly detailed and beautiful descriptions. It's also not a train-crasher where you're pulled into an action-packed mysterious story. This is a more slow-moving story as the author diligently puts time and effort into every line they write.
Kinda did style already but I'll say it again. It's beautifully written. The attention to detail and smooth flow of the writing just brought the whole novel to life.
The story, while being more laid-back in terms of story progression has been something I sit back and enjoy my coffee with while intriguing me with some darker topics involving werewolves and survival. As the mysteries slowly unfold it is apparent that this story is well crafted in how it slowly unravels its characters and motives.
Grammar. Absolutely nothing to say except perfect.
The characters are just well-developed. While showing us the day-to-day routines of the MC in the sometimes cruel surroundings of nature we get a deep sense of who our main character really is as his past is slowly unwoven revealing why he acts and thinks the way he does. Fantastic job.
I'd definitely suggest trying this one out. It was definitely worth my time. - UgarrsvenothRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: Stylistically speaking this story is breathtaking. The detailed description of the valley made me truly feel like I was there. I could picture everything that was happening in my mind. The author has put a lot of care and attention into the small details of this story, and it shows.
Story: The story has been fairly slow so far, but it doesn't feel like the author is dragging it through the mud. It's a slow-burn that does a fantastic job of pulling you in. We get to explore the world through the main characters life and we get to watch the story slowly unravel.
Grammar: I didn't notice any problems as far as grammar goes, and if there was something, it didn't detract from the story at all.
Character: So far, the MC has been the only character in the story (Although I would argue that the wolves have enough personality and traits to classify them as characters too.) The MC is a very opinionated person, and he makes his dislike for society and rapid advancement at the cost of nature, very clear. He is a very strong character, which helps fill in for the lack of social interactions.
Overall, its a great story, keep it up! - mstephensRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The writing is beautiful and William is a fascinating protagonist.
It starts a little slow and introspective, focusing on developing William’s character and exploring his solitary life as a werewolf. But then it becomes very suspenseful, as William confronts the forces of civilization.
I look forward to reading more about him! - LAScottRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Stylistically, this is a beautiful piece of literature. The description of the forest draws you in as a reader and you can really feel the love for nature in the words. There’s also something very soothing to read in depth descriptions of survival. Though there are obvious hardships to living off the grid, the main character is very much a willing participant.
There are several themes at play in a short amount of time. Man versus nature, nature versus nature, man versus (apparent) monster. There’s also a very interesting difference in tone between the main character’s loving description of his mother (the moon) and his slightly disdainful description of his mom (his real mom). It provides an excellent juxtaposition for the maternal role and how it plays a role in the main character’s life. It will be interesting to explore this some more.
It’s also an absolute page turner when it starts to pick up. The tension builds masterfully and you genuinely fear for the main character when the stakes are figuratively raised.
There are no apparent grammatical issues, and it's apparent that the author puts a lot of care into their work.
Overall, this is an excellent story with great writing. Well worth a follow! - BeomJunKooRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5While it does require patience, the slow-burn pace successfully manages to keep the viewers eager to find out what happens next and what the big picture of the story could be. But that also couldn't have been pulled off if not for the good writing, which I must say does an excellent job at breathing a sort of lifelike energy into whatever it describes, from the look and feel of any environment to the inner thoughts of the main character. As my review's title says, you have indeed created a certified page turner here, very good!
- L.K. WinturRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall: 4 Wolves and Men is a meticulously detailed description of the life of MC as a werewolf. The authors dedication and thoroughness is evident throughout, painting a vivid picture which immerses the reader in the story. However, at times, the narrative tends to meander into the mundane routine of daily life, making it a slightly slower read. That being said, I'm reviewing at chapter 3D and could tell the story and suspense was beginning to build in a well paced way.
Style: 4 The immaculate and detailed description kept me reading on, and wanting to know what happens next. Having stopped at 3D I can tell the suspense was beginning to build.
Story: 3 I personally struggled with the pace of the story. It's very much a play by play of life for the MC. I know some people would enjoy this, but as its not my style I found it hard to maintain focus. Grammar: 5 I couldn't find a single fault in the grammar, it's obvious a lot of love and attention has been poured into the story.
Character: 4 You're able to easily and thoroughly put yourself into the MCs shoes. You learn a lot about him from his interaction with his surroundings and his reactions to certain events. It's obvious he has some trauma from his past, seemingly to do with his mother. I enjoy the description of the celestial bodies in a familial way, as it seems to indicate on some level the issues MC may have in his longing for a maternal figure. However, I'd like more specific background on the main character (reviewed at chapter 3D so this may come later but some earlier exposition would be nice). - nijinekoRoyal Road★★★ 3.0This story starts off with an off grid survivalist, and suddenly launches into conspiracy and hidden magical(?) world. An interesting premise, but the more one reads, the less one learns.
The story is told entirely from the first person perspective of the main character... normally not a problem, but the further this story goes the more of a problem it becomes. Having finished the first book and started on the second, I still know little about the world, the conspiracies, or even the place where the main character currently is. Most novel series by the end of the first book will have the main characteristics of the world established, providing a framework of understanding for the rest of the events of the story.
What story there is seems aggressively rooted in what the main character happens to be feeling about anything and everything, and little else. Which gets points as the main character is definitely the more instinctal type of individual, but stats to feel one dimensional the more one reads. The portrayal of the character's inner struggles at times reads choppy and disconnected, jumping from one state to the next.
This one feels the story could benefit by point of view interludes from the character's mother, the government agents, the apparent bad guys, the banished, and other members of the new community the character finds themself in.
All too often, the story is told in tiny side comments, not shown. Not enough meat on the bones. - SageofloreRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Struggling to enjoy this story, and found myself skipping 10+ ch at a time just to see if it was going to get better. Unfortunately, it doesn't, I wish it did cause I enjoy the supernatural genre but this just doesn't hit any of the marks and leaves me wondering what the actual point of the story is.
Our Mc is just an average Joe who happens to be a run of the mill werewolf. Nothing really to write home about him, kind of just there and exists as a character to be abused and tormented. He might be more interesting later but that might be 2 books later which is just not worth the wait.
Side characters would be a better focus if the Mc just wasn't there. I would be interested to read about them instead.
overall I give it a 2.5 below average.
