What's Magic For?

Chrysanthemum has just won her scroll as a full magician. What next? She can choose from lots of safe, secure magical careers, all providing a steady income and an eventual pension. None appeals to her, so when a friend invites her to go for a walk in the Wild, of course she accepts. It’s not safe, it’s not secure, and there is no pension. You could get rich, or you could die. In fact, you are very likely to die. It’s better than a regular job, right, but is it really what magic is for?
