Description

A geeky highschooler develops superpowers and is recruited to an international peackeeping unit at the same time as struggling with mental health problems.

*

Gonzalo Lopez, nicknamed 'Weakling' by his bullies, is just a normal teenager except that now he has superpowers.

Ever since that fight with the bully where his powers first manifested and he broke his attacker’s hand by accident, everything has been spiralling out of control.

Now all of a sudden he’s getting invited to parties, his psychiatrist’s started dating his Mom, and at least two different international organisations are trying to hunt him down.

Then there’s Ali--the new girl at school, the only other person who believes any of this is happening to him, who seems to be hiding a secret of her own. Is she really his friend like she says she is, or does she have some sort of ulterior motive for being so nice to him all the time? Should he tell her about Miracle Force, the superpowered United Nations peacekeeping unit he’s just been recruited to?

And is any of this really happening, or is it all just going on in his head?

    Now this is something epic
Loved the story, the plot twist and the twist of the plot twist, realy a rollercoaster of emotions, i would love a second book on this.
Story: Not your average superhero story, goes to some places that i never imagined, in the begining you dont know if the mc is a kid with some mental health issues or if he realy have superpowers, sometimes I thought he had and sometimes I was like, "this mf is crazy like hell" ant that's the charm of ir, until the twists wich made this go from 4 stars to five
Grammar: I'm not a native english speaker so i guess it's allright
MC: a little desilusional and with low self esteem, but its a teenager so it's pretty normal, made me remember my adolescence, so much uncertainty and sometimes I couldn't see straight the things right in front of my eyes, and mc is just like that, but he gets better I promise.
Cast: There is not much to it, it's short so there wasnt much time to develop the secondary characters, but they were enjoyable
My recomendation is read it, come on it's short so you not going to spend a lot of time, definitely a worth read, it took me one day and a little bit of the dawn to read (tomorrow I'm working hooked on coffe) but was worth it

The story has an unusual narrative style that you have to buy into. It's not as bad as a 'weird for the sake of weird' story, but neither is it a clean easy narrative. Early on I was annoyed by not knowing if the protagonist was insane, fictional, or conventional. It bothered me enough that I decided 'okay, I'm just going to assume he's telling things accurately.' However, I RP in the comments as though I think he's fictional and you should too (this will make sense if you read up to a certain point).
I'm giving Weakling a max Style score because it's trying something different and making it work, but some readers might not like it. Characters are sort of sacrificed to make the style work, though - the characters and plot deliberately have a fakeness to them. The protagonist isn't very other-oriented, and the story's pacing is pretty fast so characters aren't always developed. Both of these things are also used to further the style - two dimensional characters help the deliberate 'fake' feeling, and the characters can be more developed than the protagonist observes.
Grammar is all correct and easy to read. It doesn't get in the way and feels more edited than a first draft.
Weakling isn't a million-chapter drawn out webnovel, and instead has more of a novel's pacing, so I'd recommend giving it a shot. It's something different, and won't be a big timesink to read.
