- CircusPonyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Our main character, Dani, is just starting her journey and looking for a reason to push forward. Her drive is really starting to come through in these latest chapters, giving us a hint at what her future will hold. Side characters have some personality, but could use some fleshing out. I figure that can only come with time and chapters.
Getting through the set up the story takes a minute, but it does help us with world building a bit. This story does not line up with the pokemon media, in a very good way. The setting and plot have a great spin and divergence on them. I look forward to more.
I haven't noticed many errors that threw me out of the story, but the flow could use a smidgen of work. Things can get just a bit stiff at times, and even though most people already know about pokemon we get very little description of their looks. Seeing them in real life has to be different than the anime or the games.
We have a clear literal path forward, of not a path through the story. I can see a bit what Dani may specialize in as far as typing goes, or it can all be an elaborate set up to give us a twist. Or something in between, a general leaning for her team without being overly specialized. - ThousandOdysseysRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story might just very well be the single most realistic depiction of the Pokémon world that I have ever come across. Including cannon. 🧐
The characters are all fully fleshed out and interesting, and the story itself is well written and engaging. ✍🏻
I am truly enjoying this story and intend to remain a loyal reader for as long as it is written.
My favourite part is definitely how the MC interacts with her Pokémon!! 🥰
MINOR SPOILERS
It especially answers the question of why the world is so sparsely populated, as well as being so advanced technologically in some ways, while also being so "behind" in others.
Why can you have space warping technology, but not cellphones? (Besides the fact that it was originally written in the early '90s?) Because wild Pokémon destroy cell towers and rip up phone lines!
Why are the towns so small and far apart? Similar answer.
Which brings me to another point. This story manages to both be one of the more darker Pokémon fan fictions that I've ever read, while also managing to keep the tone fairly light throughout.
Several towns have been mentioned by now that used to exist but no longer do. The MC was called upon to help repel a wild Pokémon stampede that was aiming for one of the towns she was travelling through. And other than that there have been a few genuinely life threatening moments. ..Fanatics exist....
Yet somehow, it still manages to remain light hearted! - Enderverse87Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good start. Like the characters and Pokemon and world building. Looking forward to more chapters. So far though it seems completely pointless for the main character to be from Earth. Hopefully it makes a difference soon.
Have you played Pokemon Legends Arceus yet? It has some fun Sinnoh stuff. - SupervivensRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Altough a bit slow at times and every so often it can be hard to tell what is going on, I can tell the author is trying and it is an incredibly unique story for its genre. Overall, a good read and can't wait for more!
I will say there were many reviews (especially on the earlier chapters) with grammar corrections. Although I can see how they could get a bit annoying, I recommend the author at least look at them and consider their suggestions.
edit: Seems like the author has since gone through and fixed all the problems since so feel free to ignore my comments and just know it is a good story - TabithaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have been devouring this story over the last couple of days, and have thouroughly enjoyed the romp of a story this has been.
I came here without any preconcieved notions (saw an add in royal road and jumped over to try something else) and have been very much entertained. So much so that I think this is the first actual review I have written.
I have not reached the current story up to date, but from what I have read, it will be on my list of favourites for ever more.
Thank you author, you're doing great. - mind2Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's one of the Pokémon fanfiction that I have read so far , the pacing and battles are pretty goodexplained / written .the mons she catches are quite interesting, her travel companion has a nice personality/mons as well . I personally do find the reasons ok for the time travel but for ppl who cares about the prologue it can be kinda weird
- P_FRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is lovely, the MC(Dani) isn't overpowering everyone, and isn't growing too fast to make things boring, the story is a little slow in the beginning. (The Prologue has three parts too, but it helps us knowing about the Mc too)
But makes sense since the mechanics are different from normal game verse, so to not make others confused, the explaining was good to enter the universe. - Chaos JesterRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have a love/hate relationship with Pokemon fanfic in that I love that there's so much, but hate that thr majority is garbage. So, it's a good day when someone is able to have a fresh take on it. Wandered off does that with ease.
The style itself is well executed, pacing fairly well while also keeping the reader hooked in. Some of the info gets a bit dumpy, but not so much that your eyes start closing.
There were a few moments of grammar that took me out for a moment and some syntax issues. From what I've seen in the comments, the author responds well to these and corrects them in kind, which is all I truly hope for in grammar reviews.
As I said before, the story itself is a fresh take on pokemon famfic, using original characters and the old isekai/light amnesia tropes to put our MC, Dani, into the pokemon world. Some characters from the games/anime appear, but they aren't used in a way that takes over. I'm excited to see where this story goes.
You get a good sense of the characters that are introduced so far, especially Dani as well as her Charmander. A person/creature combo can be difficukt to pull off without one or the other being static, but these two have threads of distinct personality that will evolve as the story progresses.
Overall, this is a good, fun read that I will be coming back to. If you like fanfics with fresh takes like I do, look no further. - That_One_GuyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5As the review title says I quite like this story thus far. I find it engaging and I'm anticipating coming releases and developments.
Style- This is the part of the fiction that makes me a bit confused. It fits into a whole slew of themes including Isekai, coming of age, and amnesiac protagonist. None of these are bad, but sometimes it feels like they clash with eachother. It's easy to forget that this is Isekai at times or that the protagonist is running on muddled memories because the protagonist feels too competent even with the beginning training montage. This could just be me though so take it with a grain of salt.
Story- The pacing after the first ~8 chapters is pretty smooth while not feeling rushed or a slog. The events feel significant to the characters involved and I like the world building quite well. It does give me something of a post apoc vibe with simultaneously haveing advanced technology and lacking some basic modern amenities. Tsaimath also managed to make Nincada terrifying, bringing to the fore the man against nature elements of this fiction.
Grammar- The grammar and spelling are consistently good especialy considering the fast release times. There are a couple of instances of button mashed garble, but not enough to get upset over.
Characters- The characters, for the most part, have believable growth, development and reactions to events in this fiction. As I mentioned earlier, there are a couple of instances of the protagonist presenting hyper competence, but it's temporary and I think it might be explained later in the story.
In conclusion this is a pretty good fiction with excellent pacing and fantastic world building. Many parts of it drip with flavor and make me wish to Wander Off at some point. I hope that Tsaimath keeps up their release schedule and gets the attention they deserve for this fiction. - thingsandstuffRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I'm enjoying this quite a bit. The world feels well built and the story makes sense in the context of it's world. I especially like how trainers don't just know their pokemon's levels but have to gain an understanding of their strength vs other pokemon. There's also actually training the pokemon to learn new moves instead of the 'mons automatically learning them since there's no levels. Dark type 'mons like Ghastly are a legitimate threat in this world, and it honestly makes a lot of sense. Overall, big fan of this!
