- schoobalubaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Review for Seasons 1-3, Improvise, Reboot, & Adapt
Voidwalker of 3B is an absolute rollercoaster.
Season 1: Improvise, hooks you in with all sorts of crazy things happening around our protagonist, Stefan. This poor kid gets kicked out of the house, finds a striped hoodie that acts like a power storage, and is forced to fight just about anything that moves. There's a clone of him, there's a cat that can engineer just about anything, and there's "elementalists". The latter piece of worldbuilding opens up the door to what is unquestionably this novel's greatest strength: its intricate and supremely creative combat system, gracefully and fluidly acted out in this story's abundant fight scenes.
You do not need to personally know the LEGEND that is this novel's author, RequiemBrother, to know the man is obsessed with writing fight scenes. If you are not seeing the combat happen in front of you as you read this novel, you are reading it wrong!
In Season 2: Reboot the novel adopts a cyber aesthetic, and we get to see the story's thematics slowly build themselves. But it pales in comparison to Season 3, Adapt.
The third and (for now!) latest installment to the novel is where the story really starts to shine. It's...just really epic. The character roster expands, the worldbuilding opens up, and the stakes are high as hell - literally. Yeah, this story has hell in it. Alongside robots with souls inside them, a psychotic panopticon, Grand Wizards, hatred, trauma, despair...and evonly, a recently discovered material.
The ending of Season 3 has also got to be one of the most satisfying conclusions to any story i've read. Just so you know it finishes off strong.
I challenge you to read Voidwalker of 3B. You won't want to get off the ride. - GugumSajahRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Strengths:
VoidWalker presents a vast and ambitious world, filled with unique elements such as “Champion Energy,” the “power storage hoodie,” and an Elementalist system. Concepts like Limbo, soul entities, and weapons tied to the soul reflect a high level of imagination.
The combat scenes feel vivid and full of energy. Stefan’s battles against his clone, soldiers, and fellow elementalists like Andrew and Rares are diverse in style. Techniques such as pellets, energy slashes, and spear-arms bring a dynamic that resembles video games or shounen anime.
Each chapter introduces new conflicts and surprises, from brutal fights to betrayals and unfolding mysteries. For example: Cat, initially seen as humorous, reveals a darker side; Rares, who seemed ordinary at first, ends up connected to a much bigger plot.
Areas for Improvement
Some of the dialogue leans heavily on exposition, especially long explanations about the energy system, secret files, or Cat’s backstory. This can disrupt immersion.
Suggestion:
Try to embed information gradually through conflict, gestures, or more natural two-way dialogue.
I'm not an expert in grammar myself, I also rely on tools to check the translation of my own novel, but I noticed quite a few awkward sentences or inconsistent tenses throughout the manuscript.
Also, Stefan’s voice as a character sometimes feels inconsistent. At times he sounds mature and sarcastic, but at others, overly childish or too quick to accept major events without resistance.
Suggestion:
Decide whether he’s a naive but stubborn child, or a clever rebel-type protagonist. Keep his reactions, decisions, and dialogue consistent with that identity.
This manuscript has huge potential, brilliant ideas, and many exciting moments. What it needs is technical polishing, structural tightening, and deeper character refinement to feel more grounded and cohesive.
I hope this review helps you take VoidWalker to the next level.
Your novel truly deserves to reach its full potential.
