Description
Everything changed when he met the strange disciple, Tez, muttering about a Si Su Ten. Or was it System?
Shuren is the young master of the Liu Clan, the most powerful sword clan in the world. Grandson of the deceased patriarch, he is determined to become the strongest swordsman and the next leader of the clan.
There’s just a slight problem. He’s been cursed, unable to use a sword.
Joining the Seven Clouds Sect as a disciple, Shuren dominates the sect. Until a mysterious disciple wielding a 'System' challenges his authority.
But ever since then, things have been… changing.
A thousand year old inheritance just appeared? The demonic sects have started attacking? There’s a sudden beast tide? The Unhallowed Monolith has awakened, threatening to destroy the entire city? But most importantly, his reputation has fallen to the ground?!
You're all courting death, calling me a demon! So be it, I’ll do things my way!

- sypherRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really like the concept and want to support writers with an actual idea of how the story goes...Good read and has done a good job to encapsulate the luck that a system mc has w o r d c o u n t f i l l e r s
- Mechanical HoboRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style & Story- this story is a refreshing take on the Young Master and System MC genre with the MC being a native Young Master and not the System Mc. Personally, I really enjoy it as the System mc trope has gotten stale and its nice to see the POV from a native of the world. Hopefully, there isn't too much focus on Tez (System MC) and Shuren (Young Master) remains the centre of the plot.
Characters- The MC (Shuren) is a nice breath of fresh air, as he acts within the caricature of an arrogant Young Master, yet also has his own unique personality. He is not needlessly overbearing or annoying and the author portrays his actions with sufficient reasoning as an overall righteous but somewhat rigid guy.
Tez on the other hand is a pretty standard System mc. He has the personality, System and lines you'd see just about anywhere (making him extremely annoying), yet he also feels like a believable character and I think the author has achieved a good balance between the trope and Tez as a character.
Grammar- I'd consider it pretty good from a webnovel standpoint. Easy to read and understand but with sufficient prose that makes you enjoy it.
The Young Master agenda shall prevail! - TheFartRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story only has 5 chapters so not enough to really say if it's good, but I started right 🙏 I would have recommended this novel to my fellow daoist from r/martialmemes but the elders couldn't handle my unorthodox ways and kicked me out of the sect, the Grand racism Dao shall prevail
- TheScientificGodsterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There are stories with a system mc, there are stories with a Villain mc. But this is one of the first good stories with a Villain mc AND a system mc together. Here, the tropes of both of those genres have been intertwined and blended together in a perfect base of world building. Truly a rising Xianxia indeed!
- Try showingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is a rare gem, the kind that hooks you from the first page and lingers long after you’ve turned the last. The author’s command of language is striking: every word feels deliberate, painting scenes that hit you in the gut or lift you with quiet beauty.
What sets it apart is how it balances everything. The pacing keeps you hooked—slow when it needs to breathe, fast when your heart demands it. The themes are deep but never heavy-handed, It’s not flawless—some might quibble over a loose thread or a moment that stretches belief like the annoying system holders but those imperfections only add to its charm. - LaughYeAmerRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5If you enjoy cultivation stories and xianxia-style writing — with all its over-the-top awesome dialogue, arrogant cultivators, and declarations of 'Courting Death!' — then this is a fantastic read and you are in for a good time.
In most translated xianxia, there is a degree of disconnect that comes from reading a translated work written in another language, with certain subtext and wordplay lost in translation.
There is none of that here. The author has taken all the best parts of xianxia-style writing — all its unique proverbs, timeless insults, and iconic dialogue — and wrapped them all up beautifully in an easy-to-read, fast-paced, and action-packed story.
This is all complete with an MC who holds just the right amount of arrogance and virtue, balanced nicely for facing the usual brutalness of any xianxia world without going either full-tilt into pointless cruelty or ignorant altruism.
The twist of a system user being someone aside from the Young Master MC is the icing on the cake, and there is a lot offered here that appeals to any enjoyer of Xianxia literature. A fantastic style blending the cliché with genuinely unique lines. A story that starts hard and fast with action at every turn. A set of characters with differing motives and ambitions, each undergoing their unique personal developments.
In short, it is a great treat, and I am eager to see more. - The Spicy Possum42Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5A story from a cliche young master type without seeming overdone. He says all the typical lines and does almost all the typical "young master" things from a typical xianxia but the author manages to make them feel like a real person with real and relatable motivations and actions rather than just a setup for a joke. I'm not too fond of his foil, the isekaied man with a system, he feels a little more steroetypical in comparison to our MC but is still a beleivable character with beleivable motivations. Besides, i think its expected to not like him as the purpose of his inclusion feels like a character or genre study.
Besides, I really love it when main characters feel like they were supposed to be a side character in someone elses story. They get less random cheats r convenient plot debices that some characters in other stories might just have fall into their hands so it makes things more entertaining as he will jave to struggle harder, to be smarter and stronger all through his own power. It walks a fine line of examining and utilising the tropes and pulling them apart while still having a fun and interesting story to follow. Andwatching that is highly entertaining. We havent gotten very far yet but the world, while still xianxia still has enough personal flair and details that make it more interesting, with a stage being set up for what feels like a large and expansive place, always a good thing for a different world since it makes me feel excited to discover it along with our MC.
The story flow, like the 3rd person and such, was somewhat jarring initially, with it being a little unclear on wh was thinking what but that has been improving with each chapter. The grammar iß a lttle lacking but honestly, considering the 2 chapters a day pace, its an unserstandable tradeoff. I beleive the author will likely go back to edit all of the chapters later on.
Overall, a new story that, while still working out some minor kinks as the author learns and gets in the flow of things - PangaeaRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This story is clearly inspired by the classic Reverend Insanity, and continues a lot of its heritage. The cultivation world has made progress with each passing era, making current cultivators stronger than ancient ones, which is still a concept that is sorely missing in xianxia. The legends of Dan Zu are alive and well. There’s also some philosophical interplay between the righteous and demonic paths.
The story is also centered on a young master, standing in opposition to a Japanese-style system user protagonist. The idea is somewhat subversive. The MC has a lot of unique inheritances from his dead gramps that make him OP. The various aspects of the unique cultivation system are well done with a Western influence.
As good as Reverend Insanity is, although a lot of it has carried over well, it’s also brought some negatives. The story tries too hard to make the MC seem badass and mature, especially when comparing him to the bumbling Tez. The MC is a 17 year old kid, not a 500 year old monster who has transcended good and evil. Yet the most emotion we see out of him is simple rage and “gigachad staring off into space.” Yes, the MC is still idealistic. But this imposed maturity means that there’s not a lot of room to let ideas clash and realizations flow naturally in future arcs. - Tim the EnchanterRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I'm not going to bother with an advanced review because I haven't read far enough to have a relevant opinion on things like story and characters.
I have read far enough though to notice a pattern. About once every 1-2 chapters the author uses a word in a way that makes it very apparent that they do not understand what that word means.
These are easily fixable errors so long as someone makes you aware of them. I'm sure that RR has tools to help authors find proof readers and editors. And if they don't there's always the professional option.
Seriously, if you really have already written over 150+ chapters then you owe it to yourself to make sure that your hard work isn't spoiled by easily correctable mistakes. Just get some people to give it a quick look over and it'll immediately bump the quality up. - MadHat3rRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Spoilers ahead I guess: I just really don't like Tez, he's supper one dimensional and on top of that actively makes horrible decisions while relying on his system to take care of it. The fact this character is supposed to act as a foil to Liu Shuren completely baffles at this point in the story and while I enjoy Liu Shuren, it seems Tez is going to be a continuing pov character which does not make me want to continue with this story.
