Veteran's journey: Out of time (A Pokemon story)
Community Rating
Description
300 years after the events of Pokemon Black/White 2, Team Anarchy rose to challenge the order of the Pokemon world. Forty year old veteran trainer Daniel Joy and his team managed to survive and prevail against their forces and thwart their plans.
However, just after the climax of their confrontation, an explosion turned the world white and brought him to the past.
Now stranded in an familiar but alien world, he'll use his knowledge and experience to protect what's left of his family in the Age of heroes. A time period famous for their megalomaniacs, world ending threats, and the fate of the world depending in 15 year olds.

This is a rewrite! I was not happy with my initial draft, so I'm editing, cutting, re imagining everything. The story will loosely follow the one i published on Scribblehub and fanfiction.net, but will have better writing and characterization (I hope).

- AyanetkaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's quite different from other fanfics and I'm excited to see the direction the author takes.
No major complaints for grammar, maybe some weird expressions here and there but no deal breaker.
The characters and conversations don't feel plastic, there's flow and they feel distinct enough.
It does take a path that didn't expect
Since the Mc becomes a teacher and pretty much accepts his circumstances without trying to find a way back
But I'm curious to see where it goes. - SaadTheConjurerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Curious little fanfiction that we have here. I’m not generally one for reviews, but I suppose I’m in an odd mood for once.
Veteran’s Journey: Out of Time delves into the well-trod genre of people from the future being sent back in time and causing a mess because of their advanced technology, among other things. In this case, we have a veteran trainer with a lineage tracing back to the Joy family, coming from a time devastated by innumerous incidents that have rocked the world at large, yet has survived past its darkest moments and continues to flourish. Tools like Z-Moves, Dynamax, and the like have become a common staple, and aura control is a prerequisite just to become a serious trainer in the leagues. Fakemon variants have emerged all over the various regions, and the overall strength of typical high-level trainers is notably higher than it was centuries ago.
When Daniel Joy, in the middle of a devastating operation against a madman, ends up hurtled back 300 years into the past as a side effect of the madman’s actions, he brings a lot of that stuff with him. Which comes with humorous consequences and headaches for all involved.
I tend to be rather critical with stories, but this isn’t half-bad of a tale. Slice of life stuff isn’t my thing, personally, but I do like how it’s been approached here. Daniel Joy is a well-done character whose Joy heritage enriches his background and dealings with the present day world of Unova, and his baggage and struggles with adapting to the time he’s stuck in is explored nicely. His Pokemon all have distinct personalities and levels of nuances to them too, which I have to appreciate. Well-rounded cast as well.
Grammar is mostly clean, albeit with a few punctuation typos here and there, and the style has a solid flow to it. Scenes feel well-written, engaging, and crisp, which does a lot for my personal enjoyment of the story. The plot itself has pretty decent execution and plenty of fun elements going for it, and the worldbuilding - [DanteRedgrave]Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I followed this story on fanfiction.net and am glad it's getting a rewrite here. The premise is very interesting and knew I haven't seen before. I can't wait to get deeper into the story and am already loving all the changes made here (like displaying inventory). I hope the author keeps at the story.
- Cynthia DawnRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This starts out strong in the middle of action as our MC Daniel battles Pokemon and then is cast backwards in time. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat as it quickly shifts through multiple character points of view, but it’s easy to follow along. I love the crisp description of the world and the characters. I feel like I’m right in the story. There are quite a bit of characters though, Pokemon and other wise, so sometimes it makes me feel a little lost. But the interest of wanting to know what happens next keeps me going. If you love the world of Pokemon, then this is a good story you will enjoy!
