Sam Thorn's life ended the day he was bound to a wheelchair. At least that's what people told him. They were wrong.

When the prison ship N.E. Sacrifice is taken over by a foreign force, Sam is thrust into a reality where broken bodies mend and old wounds fester into something far stranger. Hunted by things that should not exist and haunted by the loss of those he couldn't save, Sam awakens in The Estuary - a world stitched from fragments of the forgotten and the damned. Here, survival isn't given. It's earned. And as an ancient System whispers of trials meant to shatter the soul, Sam must decide: will he rise, or will he vanish like all the others before him?

Note:

I am a highschooler with no idea what I am doing. I have never written before and am going to do the best that I can. Feedback would be an astronomic help. I have picked the tags and warnings to give myself wiggle room in the future in case I start taking this semi-seriously. That being said the release schedule will be as follows:

Chapters: Whenever I have time to work between school, sports, and working

Chapter Length: Between 1000 - 2000 words (hopefully closer to 2000) for now

The story has captivated me so far. The beginning was just a little confusing, but the clarification almost always came in the next chapter. I’m excited to see where this goes. The author says it’s their first time writing, but I have a hard time believing that since I have read plenty of books from self-proclaimed “best selling” authors that have lacked as much storytelling and details as this story has had so far.
I gave it the scores I did because I believe it has the potential to turn into something great.
The style is great, and I believe that it will continue to improve as the story goes on.
The story is a unique take on a systems mc, and I’ll leave it at that for those who want to read it for themselves.
The grammar and word choice has been excellent, and the mistakes I have noticed have been ironed out by the author already. The descriptive details really resonate with me and I picture the story in my mind as I read it.
The characters are captivating and mysterious, from the cruel and unknown Rush to the old and weathered Arlen, and I’m excited to be introduced to more as Sam’s journey progresses.
