- KyzemRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The plot looks really interesting...can’t wait to see how things turn out in the next volumes!! The protagonist seems very approachable and human-like. Unlike other isekai where the MC promptly accepts his new situation, in “Unwillingly Reborn” the MC has his issues with this new life of his. It feels like the author still has many things about the protagonist’s mental state that keeps hidden which makes the protagonist mysterious and interesting. I’m looking forward to see how “Raphael” develops and approaches new characters. His descriptive style is absorbing, even though it’s clear that the author is still developing his own writing style. One thing that I really enjoyed is the way the settings are described. I’ve been mostly reading at night time and, even though amateurish, I was able to really dive into this new world. I’m expecting very good things in regards to the background and the views. The author’s grammar is still slightly lacking but it’s nothing unbearable, the reading is fluent and easy. There are some mistakes occasionally in the use of words, rarely feels repetitive and the novel could use some more researched words but overall I believe that a lot of things could be expected from this work. The pace starts slow but it looks like it’s catching on. I can't wait to see how the story proceeds!
- killwishRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5this novel have hidden gen potential
my review have spolier read with caution
Spoiler
story start with same common style MC die and then reincarnated to another world but there are twists like MC want to sucide he didn't want to live etc because of that it's become intresting and story gain weight because of twists more than anything you think that as a normal story MC find happiness but story progresses differently i think that it's better to sucide than suffer for MC, but doing that it also lost what he have now and MC want to protect what is left 😭😭😉 i know story have great potential to became a masterpiece for that author have to execute this novel better than what he is doing now it would have been nice if we see their brotherhood and achivement and would have get more arc to attached emotionally with that particular character and academic arc is most weakly execute arc well most of the time i didn't connect with this. But there are intresting thing we did see in this arc for that i read patiently. most of the time i wnated skip this part but thank God i didn't skip otherwise I didn't understand of impact of theirs
If you read this novel then you already guess it's gave similar vibe of
The beginning after the end in their twists plots like regret
And muskou tensie for their twists
But it also is different and in future maybe we will be refer this to compare others
You have to gave a shot to this novel because real story begins with volume 3 - EmmaLeiaRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I am looking forward to where this story will go.
There is a lot of talk with suicide and suicidal thoughts in the beginning that can be upsetting to some people. It may be a good idea to put a traumatic tag on this.
There are a few spelling/wording issues but are worth overlooking so far. - RandomUsernameRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I like the characters and the story, but the formatting of the second volume is not enjoyable to read. The lack of space between paragraphs makes it feel like a wall of text and I just don't want to read anymore.
The plot is engaging and I did enjoy volume 1 but that's as far as I will read. - SoulFireMageRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I really don't like taking time to give reviews lower than 5 stars but this one, well, needs it.
There is a promise in the setup (depressing as it is to start with) that isn't quite delivered on.
It's the age of the MC and how he is able to act and become combat capable. It's jarring and unexplainable too early on. I'm REALLY tolerant of this as I love reincarnation, OP MCs and wish fulfilment - Solo Levelling was a lot of fun as was Road Warrior's work - so I really like brain candy. But the internal logic still has to tick, even when rules are broken.
I don't know if I can take the advice of the other reviewer that talks about it starting at book three.
I felt tempted to write my own reincarnation and try to solve the puzzle of wanting to get OP abilities, serious head start cos of adult mind in a child's body, and all that. Maybe I couldn't do better either, I don't know but if I could suggest anything to the author - re examine the first major combat stuff and look again at how much work it should take before he can take apart such enemies. Right now it feels like he's able to do way way too much with far too little setup to make it clear as to why.
And the ability of a 5-6 year old to be taking a girl out to a bar or acting as an adult really broke this for me.
The three stars is because there are things I like - the premise, the possibilities I guess - and want to see him revisit, maybe for kindle or just for us and build his character and world more solidly. - L.R. KnightRoyal Road★★ 2.0Please note, 3 stars denotes an average fiction, not sub-average. Also, please note that my criticisms here are limited to the first chapter.
I was drawn into this fiction by the title, which is clever. When we think of rebirth, we typically think of it as a good thing, or as a desired thing. No one wants to stay dead, right?
The MC in this fiction certainly does want to stay dead, and for good reason. A failed Olympic athlete, abandoned by those who love him, fallen into alcoholism, he finds release in taking his own life. Unfortunately, the release is but temporary.
While the premise is certainly interesting, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The paragraph structure is virtually nonexistent, which confounds the eye and makes the entire thing feel like a stream of consciousness. While at times appropriate within the narrative, I found the staccato line breaks a bit tiring, visually. The narrative voice is also not particularly strong, partly due to the stream of consciousness aspect. The main character's narration seems unfocused, and at least in this first chapter, tries to explain too much, too fast. As with the paragraph structure, focus is key, especially with a first chapter.
Beyond the structural weakness, the writing itself is fairly raw, with a great deal of tensing errors and typos, mixed constructions and just clunky phrasing. I cannot know to what degree the author is familiar with English orthographic rules and grammar conventions, but there are enough that I cannot go into depth. Instead, I would recommend linking up with an editor or writing buddy who can explain errors and coach one towards more fluent writing. Personally, I found writing buddies extremely useful in developing my voice.
While I found the premise interesting, the writing did not engage me enough to merit a return. Nothing here is "unsalvageable" or "garbage" or anything like that. It's just raw, and as the author says in their bio, they're new to this. So with sincerity, I wis
