Description

Facing the first negotiation between his people and the Pyathen elves since they discovered liquid fire and began their decades-long massacre of his people, Banon, unlike many of his elders, sought to use his station as son of the emperor to negotiate peace, as well as to put on a show of superiority over the emperor's other dozen sons.

Because without Banon’s successful ascension to emperor, beating out all of the other sons and showing their weakness for tradition for what it was, he knew his entire people would likely collapse.

What you can expect:

- Strong to stronger mc from a hunter-gatherer era race of 9 - 12 foot tall ash-skinned humanoids

- Elven and human antagonists

- Loosely influenced by ancient Meso-America and the tribes of the Amazon rainforest

- No standard progression elements or traditional magic yet… but definitely coming in the future (I am still drafting not far ahead of where I'm posting)

- Roughly a chapter a week

This story is going to be one of the all time greats and my only complaint is that I don’t live in the future so now I have to wait for more chapters.  :((
starting off strong with intriguing characters masterful world building and so so much promise for the future this is a must add to your reading list. With enough of a grounding in classic fantasy to appeal to most readers but with its own spin and intricacies to keep the attention of someone who has long since grown bored of the same old royal road stories.
11/10 world building so far. The author does such a good job of explaining the world they are creating without info dumping or using narration. From the first chapter you feel drawn in but not overwhelmed by the information being presented to you about the world.
10/10 characters there seems to be a lot of thought put into the names, and personalities introduced so far and I can’t wait to see how it all develops.
12/10 for anticipation. Every chapter is better than the one before and you just know the future payoffs are a going to be amazing
10/10 for the weapons. It seems the author understands what’s going on with knives and other blades everything is reasonable and the proportions are believable (sorry no 12 ft long swords here)
if I could bribe the author to write faster I would….

A fast paced Fantasy story of a young man, Banon, desperate to save his people from the incursions of two more powerful races. Banon struggles to establish himself as an adult citizen with his own people, while at the exact same time carrying out a bold scheme to invade the rival people's kingdom. Set in a dangerous and richly populated jungle world. A promising first novel.
The world of 'Your People' is rich and varied, and peopled by races of Giants, Elves, Humans and Hominids. The interactions between these races drive the story in deeply satisfying directions. Long standing differences between the Elves and Giants (Ooura) have spawned intense wars, which some of the characters want ended, while others consider irresolvable. The characters are strong and interesting. Most appealing for me is the layered plot that reveals itself to be more and more interesting with every new chapter.
The best part of the book for me so far (read to chapter 10), are the descriptive passages. Complex and detailed imagery brings the scenes alive for my mind's eye.
The whole effect drives me to check each day for a new chapter update, in order to find out what happens next.

The descriptive nature of your writing is apparent in your first chapter, it gives the feeling of "no stone left unturned" as you describe the nature and culture of the Ooura, and introduce the strong and confident Banon. I look forward your development as a writer and to future updates of Your People!

If you are interested in some amazonian inspired jungle cultures. It pictures quite well the point of view and reality of living in fantasy tropical forest. The writing is pretty good, aside from occasional strange phrasing, but virtually no spelling mistakes or any such.
The first 10 chapters are mainly focused on MCs displays of power, competence and ambition, and i can see that trend to continue for some time still, so by all means stay if you like powerful and intelligent main character, who overcomes his trials with both brawn and wit

I think the world this author created is unique and mysterious. So many things I would love to hear more about because they are so intriguing. Are there writing issues to nitpick? Of course! Do I wish there were 472 more chapters or 6 more books based in the same world? Heck yes! This author receives a round-of-applause from me.

This storys not bad but I don't care to continue. If I had to summerize my thoughts that's how. I've just finished chapter 15 and realized that despite the top teir writing I don't care about the stakes of the story.
    First the good
Almost everything. The details in the story are well done and paint a vivid image of this alien world and culture. That is the biggest appeal to me, the rich and detailed exploration of this world and it's culture. The people are complex and their dialog fun to read. Another great thing is the action, it's detailed and harrowing.
    The bad
This story moves at a glacial pace. Chapters are long and detailed but I'm pretty sure a total of less than 48 hours have passed between chapter 1 and 15 and we follow what the MC is doing for Almost that entire time. It's also been multiple chapter of the character talking about doing things instead of doing them. I swear to God if I hear them talk one more time about hunting a dragon eagle instead of just doing it I'm going to go mad.
This leads me to my biggest issue, the stakes. I did not doubt for a second that the MC would succeed in his hunt, he has too. So when the story wanted to make it seem like he might I was just waiting for "the power of friendship" boost or a deus ex machina .
    I got both
I'm just bored of waiting for something to happen when I know it's outcome.
Finally I came her for the romance tag. I was looking for a romance to read and 15 chapters in it's not that. We've met the FL like twice and then went back to focus on the hunt and examining their society.
Don't get me wrong it's interesting to hear about this deeply detailed and rich culture though the eyes of someone who both loves it and sees the problems involved. It's not what I signed up for.
    TLDR
If you want a action story with a fascinating culture exploration read this book. If you want a romance well let me know when it starts.
