What makes you “you?”
Is it your body? Your voice? Your home? Your name? If you lost all of them, who would you be?
Scholar Ink-Talon knew there was more to its world. The crow devoted its life to prodding the corners of the Known World, delving into the secrets of the Gift of Understanding that granted it higher thought. If it had the power to Understand anything it perceived, then surely it could unravel the cause behind the greatest disaster in recorded history. Together with its partner Keen-Ear, it was on the verge of a breakthrough...
And then both of them ceased to exist.
Two humans now inhabit their bodies. Humans who have been stripped of their names by the same power of Understanding that allows them to communicate. To them, their lives have been upended and their minds have been forced into the incompatible bodies of ordinary animals. To the natives of that world, however, they are people who had existing lives and responsibilities. People stricken by an affliction of the mind. Possibly even people who have killed their bodies' original inhabitants and taken their place.
Together, they will need to master both their new bodies and their new power to Understand the world around them, all while grappling with an alien society and questions no one is prepared to answer. What good is a human mind in a world where humans never existed? What responsibility do you have to those you've harmed by no fault of your own? Do you even have a right to exist if your existence comes at the cost of others? What will you do about those who claim that you don't?

- Arteris EntriRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Or maybe the Warriors series? Watership down? Do you have fond memories of reading books about very much animal characters with very much human existences and problems? Then read this, don't miss out on another great story that fills that animal MC shaped hole in your heart.
Transliterated takes that idle thought you may have had, you know the one-- "What if I woke up in the world of Warriors, or Redwall, or Watership down?" And brings it to life in a way that I guarantee you aren't expecting. Curious? Go read the first chapter, you'll see what I mean. You can thank me later.
Grammar:
I am a terrible judge for proper grammar, without spell-check I would be lost-- forever unreadable. This story has no such problems, in fact it approaches language in a delightful and insightful way. That may be more involved with a story aspect than any mention of grammar, though. The whole thing is so good I'm gonna mention it here anyway, It's not like I have anything more to say in this section other than "Grammar good!" and moving on.
Style
I like this author's style, it's unique with a good voice. The concepts they approach here are incredibly hard to put into writing, so the clarity and skill put into getting a reader into the character's headspace speaks to an invisible skill in this department. You may not notice or be impressed by some stylistic flair, but remember every time you feel for the characters in their situation it speaks to the author's skill.
Story:
A Review and a story are at odds I've found, I'd like to shill for how cool this plot is but saying too much ruins the impact for those of you who I inspire to read this story. So we keep this section spoiler free. What I can tell you is that this is an intense drama with a fish out of water plot for all main characters involved. The world may not be at stake, but that doesn't mean that the world isn't crumbling around the ears of our MC's. The events and elements that go into this story are enthralling and pull me dee - kevin mcdanyeldRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has problems and that's what's good about it. A lot of stories on this site only focus on the short term problems for their characters. But this story is one of the few that can set up and create understandable and entertaining long term problems. Throughout the entire story everything you read connects to the larger problem at hand(or paw in this case). It creates a wonderfully entertaining read I cannot recommend this story enough.
