(I am attempting to keep this spoiler free for anyone who might be interested, so I apologize for the somewhat vague nature of the review in places.)
The idea of the story itself is an interesting one.

    STORY:
If you pick up Trailblazer, you'll get what you'd expect, a fantasy world of swords and magic...
Except it has been brought back to stone age, and our protagonist now has to pioneer the reconstruction of his world once again. Though unlike most kingdom building stories, he does so by fighting. Not with wikipedia knowledge. 5/5
The escapism fantasies of the protagonist unfolding into reality drags you in, and clearing the Trails and reclaiming the lost knowledge keeps you engaged.
    STYLE:
It's great. Not too many things to comment about this one. I personally don't mind the observations of the protagonist, as they're delivered rather fluently, though someone else might find them to be a little distracting. 5/5
    GRAMMAR:
The author claims not to be a native speaker, I say he should have more confidence. 5/5
    CHARACTER:
The characters follow the setting. Generic, but executed well. But Admittedly, they aren't too original. My only complaint would be that apart from the protagonist, most of the other characters lack depth. But that's as of now, and by the looks of things, that's going to change soon. 4.5/5
The protagonist is a bit awkward at first, but as he gains confidence on his journeys he gets a lot better, which alone makes the story rewarding. And the foxgirl. Also the foxgirl.
The author has uploaded a 'Self-review' criticizing his own work. Don't listen to that, it's bogus. Best of luck for the author!

This one needs to be WAY up higher in trending. The story is interesting and hooked me right in. None of the "questionable qualities" the author possesses transfer to his work. Anyway, why the hell are you still skimming through reviews instead of reading it?

I've read 6 novels on royal road so far. All highly rated and greatly praised. But this is the only story that made me actually want to tell people about it, the only one that made me try to get others to read it too. It's special, and I love it. Give it a try and I'm sure you will too.

Binged the whole thing, what a ride. No wasted time on exposition of a whole system, just the directness of a soldier posting with the internal struggles of finding a mysterious power that now everyone relies on. No break in the emersion, no suspension of disbelief needed. The shipboard soldiers swear like sailors, so when I say this is a clean story I am speaking in regards to verbose clutter or distractions.  I'll be playing reruns in my head all week, because I got sucked into this one.

As an avid consumer of this type of fiction I always love when I find an author who can skirt around tropes and cliches with mastery, not that tropes are bad I love them.
Of course many of the things sound familiar, but do not let that detract by how original the end execution is.
    Read it!
    I hope to see more.
