Long ago, a dungeon appeared in the world.

It was on a scouting mission and successfully located a viable world full of people and resources.

Soon afterward, dungeon after dungeon invaded the world. They took over the planet and unleashed their monstrous creatures, wreaking havoc upon the lands.

The infestations of the dungeons ended the peaceful world and brought upon the Age of Apocalypse. The world as it was, was destroyed and laid in ruins.

However, all was not lost.

A tower appeared, giving hope to the last of humanity. The beacon of light gave the remaining people of the planet a way to fight back against their oppressors. One by one the towers appeared across the planet.

They gave select individuals the power of summoning for a price. The survivors of the apocalypse contracted and summoned forth powerful beings to take back their planet. The native inhabitants fought back against the invaders, pushing them back and taking back pieces of their lost world.

The battles turned to war. A war of attrition that to this day had no end. Through the ages, areas around the towers became kingdoms, strongholds for the last of humanity. And the dungeons became forbidden grounds, not to be ventured.

Generations passed since the times of the first summoners. However, the war never ended. A seemingly normal boy would soon find out the troubles of his line. With no choice, he had to take the only summon willing to contract with him.

A system.

I was unexpectedly surprised by this. The banter and dialogue as the story develops are quite good which is a radical departure from how the book begins. I gave up on it quickly the first time I came to it.
The first chapter is terrible, we have a full nine paragraphs before we have a character. The first character is some random sixteen year old who isn't even the main character. Then we get told about one of the main character's virtues by other characters rather than shown it. That was honestly pretty painful to read but I'm glad I stuck it out the second time.
The banter and dialogue are fun overall and the mechanics introduced so far are quite interesting as well. It's worth reading if you can get through that very painful beginning.
