Tower of Pandora (A Tower Climbing LitRPG)
Community Rating
Description
Narcissistic Princess and Shut-in magician explore a world-spanning tower.
The Tower of Pandora, a mysterious tower suspended over time and space. Its origin, unknown. The premise is simple, get to the top, and the tower will grant you a single wish.
Or, at least that's what the label says. Tower of Pandora. A world-famous MMO with over 700 million users worldwide. [Heartstealingthief] and [Boredservant] are two of those users. About to challenge the final floor of the tower after hours of playing, a bright light suddenly flashes in front of them.
"YOU!"
This is the story of these two users. These two players, and of the tower they are trapped in. Rank one and rank two. Join them as they navigate this familiar, yet brand new world, and let the deities decide whether they deserve to climb, the Tower of Pandora.
The start of this story is quite slow, I promise that (maybe?) if you bear with it for a little while and keep reading, it will start picking up.
There's a profanity tag because I just wanted to be safe. Expect some cursing, but not a lot of it. Who knows? Maybe I'll write a character who's Australian.
On Hiatus until further notice. Real life sucks.

- MSMRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Imagine suddenly finding yourself in your favorite game. Not as your own avatar, but as an NPC, complete with all the memories and skills of the NPC you are replacing. Oh, and this isn't just any NPC, but a powerful mage who, with a little bit of intelligence, can become a real monster.
That's the situation our protagonist finds himself in, with just one extra twist: His rival, the one gamer he could never beat back when this was just an online game, has also reincarnated into this world. And just like back then, his rival is all set to beat him to everything, to find all the secrets and defeat all the bosses just a few steps ahead.
It's not a complex story, and I mean that as a compliment. It's an advantage of any tower climbing story; there is always going to be a clear goal, and then the author adds more as they advance. Right now, the protagonist is just trying to gather as many powers and artifacts as possible, only to find that they've been grabbed up by his rival first. So it's sort of a time-travel isekai too, using a bunch of meta knowledge to advance faster, but in this case they're not the only one.
It's an interesting twist to the premise, because instead of instantly catapulting to the top of the heap, the hero is going to have to work hard just to be number two.
This is one to keep an eye on. - ZenobiaTayRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0An entertaining read. A slow build-up at times.
I have a good grasp of the character's personalities. It was portrayed well enough. The MC makes mistakes which is nice. Usually, MCs figure out what to do and do it early on. So seeing one that's not all round perfect is nice. 4.5/5
The story is good, and the plot idea is interesting. There's a mix of fantasy and tower climbing. it fits pretty well with what I've seen of the genre. It's not complicated and easy enough to understand 5/5
The style of writing, it's consistent, but a bit complicated. There were moments when I had to stop and re-read to understand what the author is trying to say. It had nothing to do with the story content but simply the way it was portrayed. It happened a few times throughout the chapters. The author clearly loves being descriptive, but they don't have much variety when it comes to describing things. So you ended up with some repetitive, descriptive words. They also add descriptions of things that have no aid in the story and either stand out too much for no reason or is just forgotten. 3/5
Grammar is not bad, I've seen worse and it can be better but it's readable. A few mistakes and poor word choices, but the author responds pretty fast to suggestions. I wouldn't be surprised if they dwindled over time. 4.5/5
Overall a good read. By chapter seven, I was curious enough to want to keep going just to see what happens with the characters. - Alto WatsonRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I would like to say that I made this review reluctantly as I had to be quite harsh in the end. The story is quite derivative and based on anime tropes and concepts which are quite mainstream. It is also written in a very offhanded simplistic way which I feel moves too fast. It improves in the later chapters but as a continuous work lacks character and depth. The characters are not particularly interesting either. So this has some serious editing required. The fact that it is so long really detracted from my desire to read this, like the author had begun writing it without really considering these aspects which I have mentioned. Having said that this might be a good easy read for people who are looking for something light hearted and has a general lack of specific details included in the narrative. It most certainly seems targeted at a younger audience so that might be taken into consideration. It is also written in quite a femenine voice which people may enjoy. Colloquial language is used throughout the 3rd person subjective narration which may be a significant boon for people who are into that. Younger audiences may enjoy the homely style of narration which strongly contrasts the sophisticated language written in “underground” literature.
