Description

By virtue of war's nature, war itself is not moral or immoral. Killing is killing. But if you want to make yourself feel better about it, remember these two things. If you can kill the enemy to rescue a friend, kill the enemy. If youhavea reason to fight, go to any lengths to achieve it. That is all I can say, Iris. That is fundamentally all I have to teach you. In a world where Spirits and Humans are fundamentally divided, Iris finds herself balancing along that thin line. She holds the intelligence and understanding of a human, while toying with the magic of Spirits. And she isn't the only one. She joins a scattered and secretive league of mercenaries under the wings of Evalyn Hardridge, the strongest being on the planet. Terrorists, war and espionage threaten to kick down the cage of society they are tasked with guarding, while a collective will of the people yearn for a world less cruel. Within her is an absolute power that few can have, and only one can rival. As she struggles to understand the power that defines her, and attempts to bring her own meaning to the name 'Iris', the world around her tugs at her strings, manipulating her for their own means. While she travels across the continent, from autocracy to dictatorship to anarchist state,  the nations sneer at each other, ready to clash Aether against Diesel, and Iris stands in the center, on the cusp of a new era. What to Expect: Something new and refreshing. Character, story, theme and philosophy come before magic systems and world building. This is a story that questions characters, their world, our world, and you. Minor gore, nothing more than gunshot wounds, strong lovable characters and intricate politics. _____________________________________________________ Art by (Instagram) @lakelyn._ ©S.nuffles 2022

Alright, folks, get ready, this one is a wild ride. This isn't just another story, it's a whole universe waiting to be explored.
The writing style? Top-notch. It's got this immersive quality that just pulls you in. The descriptions are on point. It's like you're right there, living the story alongside the characters. And speaking of characters, they're as real as they come. Iris, the mysterious hybrid and Evalyn, the seasoned veteran with a heart of gold, are just the tip of the iceberg. Each character has their own quirks, which makes the interactions between them feel genuine.
Now, the world-building is something else. It's a blend of sci-fi and fantasy that's just... wow. Spirits and humans intertwine, and the aftermath of a war still lingers in the air. It's a rich, complex world that's just begging to be explored. And the lore? It's deep, intricate, and woven seamlessly into the story.
The pacing of the story is just right, not too slow, not too fast. It keeps you always wanting to know what happens next. And the plot? It's filled with intrigue and mystery, with Iris's abilities and Evalyn's past driving the story forward.
The grammar is pretty solid, with only a few minor hiccups here and there. It's clear that S.nuffles has put a lot of effort into making sure the story is as polished as possible. And while there are a few formatting issues, they don't detract from the overall reading experience.
Finishing this review, 'To Your New Era: Of Absolute Power' is a gem of a story. It's got compelling characters, an engaging plot, and a world that's as fascinating as it is complex. If you're a fan of stories that blend genres and aren't afraid to dive deep into world-building and character development, then this is a must-read. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Love the world  that is being built, the characters are all realistic, granted...I'm a sucker for this type of characters and them spirit magic
    Style:
The writing style is good, consistent and most important of all clear. The descriptions good, and the pacing isn't rushed. So that's all good.
The only problem for me is the length since some are short and some are longer, we go from some extremely long chapters to one with very little content. But since the narrative is good I guess that it isn't that much of a problem?
It mostly annoys me so it's a me thing.
    Story:
With Spirits and Humans living together in a nation and clashing over the use of the local resource (Aether). We have a good plot set and onwards we go towards the development of the world at large!
It defines quite well the problem and so a merry band of mercenaries are ready to battle for supremacy! (Perhaps I might be overly dramatic on this one)
    Grammar:
No flaws to complain about! I had no problem whatsoever reading it. So kudos
    Characters:
Believable characters overall with normal responses. They felt like how someone in that particular spot would react at the moment of time.
I would respond like that? Under the same circunstances, probably. So yeah, good work on that!
It's a good world and a good story. So yeah, good job and keep the good work up!

First off, I have to say the author is does an excellent job of utilizing showing vs telling. There's a quick fast paced nature to their descriptions that pushes the story along but you never feel like your in a white featureless room. It shows a level of master over the true pacing technique of showing vs. telling that many authors struggle with.
Adding to the descriptions, there's a fresh interesting merging of ideas. A city that's more like a scar. Constantly being built up. That idea struck me. The author didn't have to tell me much more than a few precise sentences to make me understand exactly what kind of environment I was dealing with.
So the opening chapter is interesting, its different from subsequent chapters and hooks you with a desire to figure out what is happening and, more importantly, why it is happening. There's a deep sense of anxiety and dread of something, not from without, something that could be outrun given enough motivation and effort, but from something within. Something that can never be outran as it travels at the speed of you.
The characters are great. Interesting. I love the dynamic between the street wise and hardened Evelyn and the childish, yet insanely powerful, Iris. There's chemistry here and I can't wait to see where this road leads me down.
All in all, it's a great story with an interesting premise that is slow to unfold but there's a beauty in that unfolding. Like a spring blossom after a long winter's night.
Check it out, you won't regret it!

I don't know where to start with To Your New Era (from here on TYNE). The world has detailed history, cultures and technology, which shows itself constantly. They constantly have real and lasting impacts on the plot. Then there are the characters, who not only have full personalities and motiviations, but have real and deep relationships between them, to a far greater extent than almost any other story I've read on RR. This also has significant impacts on the plot. Then there is the plot - intricate and detailed, spanning dozens of people and multiple groups and interests. None of them are shallow or basic, every single one is realistic and multifaceted. Each of those aspects have deep impacts on the overall story and progression, and each chapter is like peeling away another layer of an onion, or opening the next matryoshka doll, if each consecutive doll added more and more detail. My biggest and only real issue with TYNE is... how the hell is this not far higher rated? I can't be such an outlier! Has TYNE been hiding in a hole? I recently received dozens of suggestions on a forum post, where I asked for new stories to try. This is absolutely one of the top 5, likely top 3. It's been great! The style is gripping. There are twists and turns from the overall plot down to the private relationships or smaller struggles of individual characters. The world is deep and solidly built, and you are always learning new things.Grammer flows well, and the author has a solid grasp on imagery, structure and weaving an enthralling story. The story is very good. I feel like I'd type my own story trying to put the positives here - Just read it!Characters are easily likeable, unique and deep. Much of their characters are clear right from the chapters where they are first introduced. The all of their own quirks, interests, talents, weaknesses and vulnerabilities, none of which I ever felt were contrived as their deep and detailed backstories perfectly match! This story should be on Rising St

To Your New Era, by author S.nuffles, is a high technology fantasy, magic-intrigue novel following primarily Evalyn, a state-employed private investigator, who runs across a young girl who is a dangerously powerful mix of spirit and human, a ‘witch’ named Iris. Iris falls into Evalyn’s care, and the story shows the two of them moving through the world that is becoming unbalanced because of the discovery of this girl, trying to navigate the new political, social, and real dangers that arise because of her appearance and care within the region of Geverde.
The setting is a unique fantasy setting in which humans share the physical world with spirits, among other entities, and make use of a magical force known as aether, which contrasts with much of the technology shown in the regions of the world. There is a large focus on slice of life, intrigue, and politics rather than action and violent dynamics (Not there isn’t any).
The writing and prose are strong. I found no noticeable grammar mistakes that others haven’t already had fixed before me. The characters are fun and interesting to follow, and the author places very deep emphasis on the building of the setting as a whole, taking ample time to show the many societal reactions to the situation in both the characters immediately around Evalyn, as well as those in seats of power away from her and Iris.
All in all, if you’re looking for a story about shifting power dynamics, politics, and slice-of-life with a dash of ‘this is going to violently explode any second now’, do give this one a fair shot! =)

    Overall Score
It starts of vague but quickly builds a beautiful but tarnished world. From a ravaged city to unique characters everything I have read so far has shown the intricate care the author has for the story they are building.
    Style Score
The style mixes details descriptions of the world with fantasy action and it plays out spectacularly. Every chapter leaves you wanting more.
    Story Score
The story opens up with very vivid imagery that brings you into the scene. Then continues to paint images in a way that keeps you expectant of what's to come.
There is a definitive flow to the exposition, action, and dialogue that doesn't break immersion.
    Grammar Score
I didn't personally notice anything grammatically wrong. The sentence structure was well done. And if there had been issues it seems like the author has fixed them.
    Character Score
The characters are immediately interesting and likable. And the way they interact with each other and the world feels authentic. It's also a female lead that I think is done right. She is awesome by the sole fact of being awesome.
This is a story I can gladly say has earned my follow. I can't wait to continue reading for more.

To Your New Era: Of Absolute Power is the story of Iris, a young woman who blurs the line between spirits and humans, who stand at the center of global power struggles trying to find her place in the world.
Style:  The perspective is consistent and smooth.  The pace is solid and exciting.  However, there are occasionally problems with sentences that are hard to understand.  (Hopefully this review is out of date and a round of editing has elevate the story to its full potential.)
Story:  Conversation and events flow naturally at a satisfying pace.  The worldbuilding and lore is obviously deeply thought out.  The mystery surrounding Iris drives the plot along.  There is the occasional use of contrivances which stretch the imagination (Evalyn catching up to Iris without using magic and Iris sudden decision to not fight when cornered).  Still excellent overall.
Grammar:  Decent, but there is sometimes incorrect word usage that effect readability.
Character:  Great cast.  Iris makes sympathetic, innocent protagonist.  Evalyn appears competent, compassionate woman with complex motivations.  Interactions feels genuine, and one can't help but wonder what they'll do next.
Conclusion:   I recommend To Your New Era: Of Absolute Power because of the intriguing setting, compelling characters, and well-paced narrative.  You'll find yourself clicking "next chapter" to discover the fate of Iris in this fascinating fantasy world.  It's a fun read.

Style: While our true MC might be Iris, the first few chapters focuses more on Evalyn, with more of a focus on how she handles the MC. The style is able to suitably reflect these interactions using a third person POV and fits the story very well
Story: The story so far has been more slice of life-esque, with more of an emphasis on world building rather than mindless plot. I like how deeply the author focuses on world building through the interactions and observations of our MC, even though she may not understand much of what is happening so far. The story feels poised to take a leap soon
Grammar: I didn't catch anything so far as from the other comments, it seems the author has been diligent in fixing things
Characters: I really like the depth and undertone given to the other characters. It seems like genuine world building rather than mindless plot, as I stated above and I can understand see how much thought has been put into fleshing each character out
Overall, this gets a 5/5 as it's a very intriguing read with lots of interesting future paths. I can see a lot of ways this story can go after reading just a bit and I like how open ended it is so far

To Your New Era is a very interesting fantasy that gives me a sort of post-modern steampunk vibe. Author S.nuffles has done a wonderful job crafting a world in just a few short chapters, but there's much more content to expand this world that is already so full!
The STORY stands out right away as intricate and well-crafted. Each detail of the world, whether it's descriptive of a location, or expansive of a political situation is expertly handled and crafted. There's a rich world that only grows with each passing chapter. It seems like the author adds little snippets from time to time as bonus stories as well!
The Main CHARACTERS are awesome. Up to the point I've read, there are only three who stand out to me as long term characters, and the rest seems to be supporting cast that could show up once or more, depending on need. I do hope to see more characters in the future, though. Two of the three main characters have monopolized all the exposition, one more so than the other. I do look forward to seeing new faces added with more detail later!
The author's GRAMMAR is phenomenal, with fairly tight prose. A well-structured story that lets you read at your rate instead of stumbling along clumsy sentences.
Lastly, as I mentioned before, this novel seems to take on a semi-realistic fantasy STYLE. We are introduced to characters and spirits, guns and magic, air fortresses and boat-spirit hybrids. In my mind's eye, it screams a steampunk world, you may visualize it differently, though. S.nuffles provides PLENTY of vivid imagery to bring you into the world with Iris and Evalyn, and experience the rollercoaster ride they journey down with Iris's gift. The pacing used to bring this world to life also feels so perfect. You're introduced to a world step by step, not info-dumped into a new system or universe portal, but instead, you walk right alongside Iris in this new experience. The climb is gradual to get to action, but it is NOT boring!
If you're in the market for a new fanta

The writing style is descriptive and immersive, capturing the reader's attention and painting a vivid picture of the scene and characters.
