- SirSiringtonRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I like this fic, it's really unique on the site. It seems like it is trying to be very restrained and true to the period, this person has clearly done some homework for this. I'm not a historian, but I feel like there were a couple details that might not be accurate but as I don't really know, I won't comment on those.
The good: Again, it feels a bit like a history lover's attempt to recreate something which is really hard to do (I feel) and it is also gutsy because the workload is higher when there is an objective way stuff was and people can tell you you are wrong. Writing is pretty good! It could feel a little more medevial but I get that it's a rabbit hole that can be bad in the other direction if you lay it on too thick, so that's a choice.
The "not that bad"
To me, this reads like an American wrote it, or at least not someone from the U.K. That's fine honestly, but a little more slang or expressions might help it come alive in the dialoug.
It also just started. I hope this person finishes this because I love the concept, but you never know with web-novels so I just hope this gives Flametide the motivation to keep writing.
