Description
Add far too much money, a fangirl's obsession, and a copious amount of swear words, and you get one Rica Banc. Rica has been obsessed with the novel,The Destined Ending, since she was preteen and it unwittingly shaped her life as she sought to be like the very same characters she read about. But one evening, Rica is chatting with the author of her favorite work, Acacia. Acacia asks her a cryptic question, if Rica knew her fate would be a tragic one, would she dare to try and change it? And Rica's answer is, "I’d make my own fate." When she wakes up the next morning, she finds herself transmigrated into Priscilla Thornewood, the older sister of The Destined Ending's protagonist and a villainess who would do anything to obtain power. Stripped of her name and identity with a strongly worded warning to simply accept her destiny, the newly dubbed Priscilladecides she won't idly stand by as the plot progresses. She vows that she'll change the tragic fate that awaits this world, and it doesn't matter how many dragons she has to slay, how many cultists she has to kill, or how how many times she gets knocked down– she'll always drag herself to her feet, wearing a cocky smile because Priscilla will do anything so that the world she devoted half her life to has a happy ending. What to expect: - a loooong epic length story based on current outlines - a flawed, non-OP female protagonist who has to use her brains more than brawn (though she does love to sucker punch people) - copious amounts of swear words and banter - a character focused story that could be slice-of-life if only our protagonist would stop worrying about the end of the world - chapter lengths ranging from 1.5K to 4k depending on the plot beats - and, most importantly, a happy ending (eventually)

This story is a gem, I would particularly call out characterisation and character growth with growth moments over time as a strength. I'm enjoying seeing the world blossom as our characters explore and find out more themselves, there is plenty of mystery and things to look forward to in the worldbuilding, helped by the main characters curiosity and love for creatures of course. It is a slow burn on the romantic side, not for lack of it, but it's an enjoyable blend of characters appreciating each other and growing love (sometimes in denial) but being held back in different ways so far, yet sharing sweet moments you can see impress upon their hearts and small spoiler ahead be warned
I'm loving the fresh introduction of what looks like a sapphic romance developing!
Keep it up author! You're awesome and your story is great - YulifeyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0To Fight Against Fate is a story that quietly hooks you and then refuses to let go.
It starts with a familiar premise: a fan ends up in the world of her favorite story, but it takes that idea in a direction that feels personal and refreshingly grounded. Rica finds herself in the role of Priscilla, a character originally written to be little more than a stepping stone in someone else’s journey. But instead of following along, she tears up the script and rewrites her own path. She’s angry, resourceful, protective, and above all, determined not to let the people she cares about meet the same fate they did in the original story.
The perspective is primarily Priscilla’s, which helps keep things focused and emotionally consistent, but the occasional switch to other characters is used really effectively. Those moments add a lot of weight to relationships and decisions, and they let the reader see how far both the world and the people in it are changing as a result of Priscilla’s actions. It’s a nice balance, most of the time you’re right there in the thick of things with her, but every now and then you get to step back and see a wider view.
One thing I really appreciate is how the story handles its romantic and emotional arcs. While it might seem like a harem setup at first glance, it’s actually a polyamorous dynamic and the difference matters. The relationships aren’t about collecting affection from multiple people, they’re built on communication, mutual support, and long-term growth. You can tell these characters are building something together, not just orbiting the protagonist.
The tone walks a tricky line between serious stakes and sharp humor, and it works. There’s plenty of action, mystery, and dark moments but it never tips into being bleak. Priscilla’s commentary (often biting, sometimes hilarious) helps keep things human and grounded even when the world around her is on fire.
The writing is consistently strong, with just the occasional small typo or moment where - blobofblobsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Some minor errors (breath vs. breathe, your vs. you're, etc)
But I binged all of the currently written content in a single day
Considering I often leave a book followed for months to build up content to read all at once (and then get ganked by stubbing),
I am happy to say that there is a lot of writing and that the story is well-executed.
Ah, how I wish to be an editor so I could read for a living, or something adjacent like making a library of reviews.
Also, don't worry about the harem tag yet, so far, it's only been small blushing and flirting stuff (and attraction). - twisterspinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is so fun!! The characters are just chef’s kiss, they’re definitely the strength of this story. They’re fun and funny and that little bit larger than life, but have their quirks and plentiful backstory that gives them depth and realness. Also, I absolutely love the premise of a diehard fan getting isekai’ed into her favorite story, with so much determination to give everyone she cares about a happy ending. AND the author does a good job with the slice-of-life journeys, which of course get interrupted by plentiful monsters, cults, and general mayhem. The author does a really great job with pacing, each chapter moves the story (or character development and relationships!) along so nicely, I ended up reading everything available in the past two days (sleep? Not necessary). The author seems to be uploading really frequently, which is so impressive! It does mean the story comes with the occasional grammar errors, and sometimes I want to see a few more details of characters’ mannerisms and body language, but those are just small nit-picks, and to me the plot, pacing, and characters more than make up for it. Overall, this story is a super compelling story of found family (maybe eventually more than friends) journeying together to save the world or at least the people they care most about. It’s harrowing at times, with some great mysteries built in, but with a stubbornly optimistic tone and characters who just melt your heart so you can’t help but cheer them on, especially when they’re giving an appropriately scathing cussing out to some asshole who deserves it! Thanks so much for writing this, author, it’s really inspired me!
- CatgurlRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I thought it was ok, although slow. I skipped ahead, skimming, and gradually realized this is a reverse harem. I guess I missed that in the tags - d'oh! Not a fan, so dropped it. The MC is interesting, but also a bit unlikeable. She is one of those people who sucks all the air and life out of a room, has to be bigger than life and leaves nothing for anyone else. At the point I stopped reading, the MC was using her future knowledge to basically co-opt her sister the heroine's life and had already swiped two of her sister's party members, putting her self into center stage as the heroine. It is all done consciously to help her sister and save the world, subconsciously not so much.
MC's actions are brave and noble and she does a lot of good - but crowds her sister out of the story - maybe that changes later on. I like that the MC works to fix her relationship with her sister, wants to defy fate and save everyone, stands up to her heartless parents and to various other prejudiced and despicable persons. Not a fan of MC's potty mouth. Potty mouth is lazy and a crutch for those who cannot be bothered to think and learn. Also, when every other word is a swear word, the impact goes and it just becomes repulsive. Potty mouth is also indicative of people who cannot control their emotions and behavior, or are unwilling to do so. Which I guess is a large part of the MC's character, so that's fair to an extent
We get some insights on other main characters, but is slow going except for sexual thoughts and innuendos.
Story is good, character's interesting, much action. If you don't mind the focus on sex, it is good. FYI, the sexual dynamic here include male/male, female/female and multiple people having sexual relationships together. I dislike soap opera and am not a fan of stories focused on sex and/or romance so dropped for me, but YMMV.
