Description

In the early 28th Century, three decades after the Terran First Contact War between the deathworlders of the United Terran Coalition and the gardenworlders of the Galactic Union, a deathworld Terran, named Victor 'Cuddles' Taylor, works as a Chief Security Specialist aboard the gardenworld vessel, the Bright Plume.

After one mission, Victor brings back an unexpected addition to the ship.

It would seem that, contrary to the fears of the Galactic Union, Terran deathworlders have no greater aspiration than to find all of the galaxy's most adorable creatures... and boop their snoots.

This is a fun and engaging story occurring after humanity and the Galactic Union fought a horrific war with each other and now are trying to find a way to peacefully coexist.
The characters are awesome and mostly 3-dimensional (with a stray 1-dimensional villain thrown in from time to time - Space Orc guy and Darth Arsehole. Not all villains are 1-dimensional though and some are even redeemable). Victor "Cuddles" Taylor and his alien avian boss are the stars of the show at first, but other characters start to have their moment in the spotlight as well. This is a character driven story, and it's excellently crafted.
The Story follows the space ship "The Bright Plume" as it travels - usually to and from death worlds, some Wild and others settled by humans. With all of the various worlds there is a richness to the scenery that's hard to beat. Also, there's a LOT of different factors and story lines that really engage the reader and make one think! This isn't a "pew-pew, shoot 'em up!" kinda story. Historical context permeates the entirety of the story and shows that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it, and repeating our history in the space age would be... unwise.
Grammar, while not being 100% perfect, is like 99.8% so. It's rare to find a mistake and sometimes the mistake is mine when I've believed that I detected one.
For style, I struggle not giving it 5 stars, but there are a couple of small issues that might not be for everyone. For me, I want more scritches! I want more Fluffy and Sam and Twigg doggies and more interactions with pets! I'm greedy that way. Some people might also not like the Interlewd/Pancakes/Not Safe for Work chapters which are CLEARLY marked. I don't always read those or I'll read just the first part sometimes because even in those chapters there's some really good storytelling going on, but it can get a little too kinky (for MY tastes anyways) sometimes. It's all about personal preference with those chapters.
    In short, I have stay

I've been following this story on the HFY subreddit for a while as both a reader and a narrator, so I've read a lot more than what it might say here.
This story follows the diverse multi-species crew of a spaceship (The Bright Plume) in the peaceful aftermath of a Galactic War as they travel the Galaxy on what will come to be an important mission, with an emphasis on a bright future, though sometimes gives us glimpses into what happened before from the perspective of certain characters reliving important events.
A unique aspect of this story is the diversity of cultures represented. A Neo-Polish planet? Sure! Space Vikings? Yep! Polynesians? You bet they sailed the stars! Expect a wide range of exotic species, including several types of humans from our primitive past! Neanderthals are back in business!
This has many chapters, and the story has a slow-burn as a result but breaks it up well with glimpses into the diverse cast as they go about their lives. A fun read!
Please note - The cast is vast and can sometimes be hard to keep track of who's who, but there is a seperate section for you to keep track of all of them!

I LOVE IT! It's so FLUFFY, with Fluffy and the other fluffy pets... And everybody (not the bad guys, of course) is so adorable and sweet and funny.
And the Interlewds are so... *ahem* varied, and *err* diverse (fans blushing face), so there are pretty much something for every taste there is.
My only complaint so far is; what the heck is up with all the pancakes? Every time they mention pancakes, I can feel a joke flying over my head... Can someone explain it to me, please? Pretty please, with a cherry on top? (puppy dog eyes)
And for some reason there is someone cutting onions all the time... When I read the lion king chapter, they must have been cutting a whole bag full of the bloody stuff. It got so bad, my nose got stuffy...
    Bestest book this year!
PS. Now I know where the pancake reference comes from. lol

I found this on Reddit ages ago, lost it, then re-found and read the whole thing (including all the chapters you'd written since I first saw it), but was dismayed to find that the story has been left untouched for half a year!
I implore you, dear author, to return to this story, and continue the wonders held within! What will the next adventure of the Bright Plume be? Who will choose to join/stay/leave the crew now that this particular mission is complete? Will Xon finally get the dingledangle of her dreams? All these questions (and MANY more!), all of which can be answered by only YOU.
The whole setting and ideals of humanity (such as having failed to attain the socialist utopia of Star Trek but trying their best in spite of it), the worldbuilding, the languages and cultures, different kinds of clashes/conflicts, and comedy, all do an incredible job of drawing me in and making me want to read more, to the point that I made an account on the website just to write this review and follow the story for whenever you should deign to update it again.
I do not personally care for your other ice-age neanderthal story purely due to its setting, but understand if you're having fun writing that at the moment and letting ideas for TWBS bubble away in the meantime.
-0.5 stars due to some poor grammar (wrong forms of your/you're and there/their/they're), and some odd wording (using trunk instead of body/torso being the main one), as well as some characters seemingly being forgotten due to the addition of new ones/plot irrelevancy/only having been contrived for one of the lewd chapters and promptly discarded.
    More please. Thank.

Loved the world building and setup. A really good take on the HYH genre - better than "nature of predators" in my opinion. I skipped over most of the sexy parts (more of a m4m guy myself) but they were done well and pretty hot.
Loved the relationship of the captain with his crew and the evolution of their perspective on death worlders. Can't wait for chapter 200 to come out.
