Description

Frustrated with his limits, the young writer Seven accepts an offer from a supernatural entity, traveling to its world whilst given the chance to live past his regrets. Humans, though, are creatures that don't easily change, and his warped views of reality turn him into an unpredictable ally or foe in the game of death that is to follow. For the sake of translating his new experiences into a written masterpiece, he will spare nothing, not even his own life - so long as the work is complete.

Romance tag was previously there, but it starts quite late in the story and I've yet to reach that part. I know how it will happen (more precisely, how I want it to happen), but currently, there are just subtle nuances that can only be left to the reader's very expansive imagination, and I wouldn't call that romance but a <1% possibility. Just so you know that there will be romance somewhere down the road, but I have yet to determine if it will become a substantial part of the narrative or not.

First, the bad: the formatting is terrible. For reasons the story doesn't seem interested in sharing, the author uses dash marks instead of quotation for dialogue. Couple that with numerous other linguistic errors, poor general use of punctuation, constant conversations where nothing indicates who's speaking about what, run-on sentences, and sudden scene transitions without any warning or explanation... often it feels more like a fever dream sequence (or a madman's ramblings) than a story proper. It's quite the headache.
It also hurts when the story goes into "explain the reveal" mode... there are a few surprise twists that, like many surprises, are supposed to make sense when explained after. Yet neither the scenario nor explanation was clear enough to make sense after the fact, either.
If you can put up with that, however, it's an otherwise excellent story.
It starts with what might be aliens, or gods, or whatever kidnapping a bunch of people and forcing them to fight monsters. They didn't bother explaining why, as one would expect.
From there, it's a blend of mystery as they try to unravel the mysteries of their captors, and survival as they're being munched on by monster attacks scheduled every day or two.
I'll try not to delve much deeper in that regard, since like most mysteries, it's best without spoilers.
The other half of the story, the 'survival' aspect, goes the tried and true method of killing lots of people off while the rest fracture into tribal behavior. You got the would-be hero former military guy organizing a legitimate fighting force while trying to protect those who, frankly, can't contribute. You got the badass action babe who's able to fight the monsters bare-handed. You got the sneaky clever love interest. And you've got the MC, who's probably autistic but his way of viewing the world is a major advantage in dealing with the AI control system of this alien/godly/whatever slaughter pit. Oh, and you've got the requisite backstabbing and/or psych
